Stargate SG1 is a continuation of the story. I got to watch it as it aired. I miss tv shows with real seasons (20ish episodes). They are way too short now.

Same. And then I found out they filmed it in my hometown (Vancouver/lower mainland), they filmed an episode at my high school when I was in grade 11 :O

Loved your reaction to movie. Stargate sg1 follows most of the mythology you saw on the movie. They adjusted some things to make it work for a long running series. For example, on the movie they said the planet (Abydos) was outside of our known universe but on the series it's within the milkyway galaxy. The other thing is Ra and his species looks like the typical "green/grey alien" with in his host but on the series they are snake like parasites. I am a hug fan of the series. It's way better than the movie. It has not just Egyptian mythology but world mythology. RDA, who plays Jack O'Neill, brings the best humor to the show. It has a lot of world building ( specially in the first season) but I swear it is worth watching! Looking forward to your SG1 reaction!

I hope you continue the series is one of my favourites ( up there with Babylon 5 and the expanse ) . The series fills in so much in terms of lore and is far superior ! Gets regular rewatches !

The most important realization about the Sphinx, is the sides show serious water damage. As if covered in a great flood. The only known flood around there, is from the Lesser Driasic(sure I misspelled that). Which would make the base of the Sphinx, over 12,000 years old.

The damage to the Sphinx is rain damage. Which mean it is far older than the official age.

When this came out, the retracting masks was the WOW! special effect of the movie. Stargate SG-1 changed a lot of the continuity of this movie. If you go on to watch the series, expect changes.

The “worst effect in the film so far” part stumped me. Lol that effect is the praxis effect and though not a new effect is a nice one. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I was late coming into the TV show and I thought it was crap! But, I tuned into the worst eps of season 1 (there were some bad episodes), and Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks) was going to leave the show at the end of Season 5. They tried to replace him (didn't work), but when he came back for Season 7, then I started watching and caught up on all the back episodes, too. Season 7 was pretty good, but then it went downhill. Season 8, Jack was promoted to General (which was because RDA lived in LA....

...RDA lived in LA, while the show was shot in Vancouver. Then RDA left the show and in Season 9, they "just" suddenly had all the "Goa'uld's" disappear, and they started in with some new bad guys based on the King Arthur legends. The Jaffa were now free and the people of Earth had developed multiple spaceships. As a result, they didn't even use the "Stargate" anymore. They had what in video game terms was a "power creep", where Earth became the dominant race in our galaxy with no good explanation.

Stargate the movie is good as an introduction to the universe. It's not the most amazing film but I like the way it begins the Stargate journey. I'm not a fan of Kurt Russell as Jack O'Neill in the movie. I prefer Stargate SG1 tv show Jack. They do change the actors but it's not detrimental at all. I love Stargate SG1. I've watched the whole series through many times. Stargate Atlantis (spin off) is entertaining but not as good as the first series. Stargate Universe was just ok. I don't rewatch that one. If you guys do Stargate SG1, I'll be watching your reactions.

Yeah right, it's like a $55 million pilot episode! Aha Lots of love for SG1, better than the 1994 movie. SG Atlantis is okay... guess it's like the equivalent of Buffy to Angel (sort of).. SG Universe is bad.

SG Universe is such a dark twist on the franchise, it’s jarringly out of sync with the rest. It only had a short run and didn’t really have a chance to get into its stride.

Please watch the Stargate series, and the Stargate Atlantis series is awesome too. They are linked. A few actor changes for the SG1 series but they are great. You will get my sub & views if you do. 😊
