man, I love SGA so much, it's definitely one of my favourite series ! Elizabeth Weir is such a great character, and I really like her relationship with Sheppard, they're like very good old friends and compared to SG1, I like the fact that the team is very large, there aren't just 4 members we see all the time but many more recurring characters. And the fact that Weir is just a civilian but is respected by everyone is also a little plus compared to Hammond

In one of the earliest episodes when trying to enter a space gate guarded by wraith darts they mention they have to drop the cloak prior to entering the stargate, though they don’t discuss why. Maybe the energy field of the cloak destabilizes the wormhole.

It is for cinematic reasons, so we can see a jumper exiting the stargate. They just never decided upon an in world techno reason for it.

The first edit has Sam mentioning that they macgyvered a DHD. (The version with nudity, the organs on the inside instead of the outside, Taking the earth female to the Queen AFTER the attack on Abydos, etc) In the newer edits (The ones with no nudity, better effects, the Queen rejecting the Earth female THEN they attack Abydos, etc) they switched it to jerry rigged. I believe he saw the newer version.

I love how Ronan and McKay are sorta the two options Sheppard has for any problems - is it a tech fix or a force fix? Teyla is for diplomacy and is kinda his guide to the various peoples of the galaxy. It's a good team.

10:04 to answer your question dear sir 😒: it depends on the gate version of the Isis according to Samantha Carter. Cause all matter doesn't matter if it's organic or inorganic goes through a "buffer stream" the dialing program for setting destination and coordinates are using in a feedback loop coming in or out of the stream. If a code is centered incorrectly into the matter stream during a dialing sequence or while in the sequence of incoming/outgoing stream you might end up in difference pieces and arranged in a grotesque order. If you ever watched the movie "Galaxy Quest" with the actors tim allen and the late Alan rickman they used a transporter device kinda similar to a stargate Isis and what happened is a creature ended up inside out. So imagine if you went in cloaked through a incoming matter stream and came out looking like a skeleton dead on reentry cause the dialing program couldn't tell the different in cloaking organic material vs inorganic material phasing through the buffer system 🤔...

@@vincentvoillot6365 well to be fair the star she blew up went supernova and fried at least one planet in the solar system (and I'm not an expert but I think supernovas tend to be solar system sized or even bigger), so I'd say that's a fairly similar achievement. It's more like a stargate tradition for top scientists to blow up star systems.

I thought too.. but even inn the original stargate sg 1 there's many many many times when either a goulad like baal,niriti or even anubis got through the Isis with a cloaking device or while cloaked.. remember when that creature "moma" came through cloaked or daniel went through a phase shift or Mitchell/Sam were shifted out of existence but somehow the gate still recognized them as organic but couldn't see them anyways? 🤔

It’s never mentioned why the jumper can’t go through the gate while cloaked but Sheppard has a line in S01E17 just before he and Teyla are about to dial the gate to where he says "I'm going to take us out of stealth mode for the pass through. Dial the gate." So there’s obviously some reason that they have to do that. It’s just never explained why.

Not really all that strange the ship can't be cloaked while the cloaking device is demolecularized. No reason trhey shouldn't be able to be cloaked as they enter though.

Out of universe; the ships don't cloak to add tension so that enemies can at least see it come through for a few seconds. In universe; there's actually writing on the ships' console that says not to cloak when going through a Stargate, and one of the writers said the ships decloak on their own when approaching a gate. So it can be assumed it interferes with the wormhole somehow.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Stargate: Atlantis..... There is one thing that has always bugged me though. When life evolves, it's body develops a certain way for evolutionary purposes. Sometimes mutations occur, but generally the individuals of that species that survive and become the dominant version of that species, are the ones with the mutations and characteristics that allow them the best chance at survival in their environment. With that said... I always wondered why the Wraith have such developed jaw and teeth, since their main form of food consumption has been shown to be the feeding orifices on their hands.... they don't seem to need the jaw and teeth for anything, so it's weird that it's still such a prominent physical trait of theirs.

the Iratus bug absorbed human DNA and evolved into the Wraith and as doctor Beckett explained, the Wraith can live long lives as long as they feed, so not much evolving can occur after that. the developed jaw and teeth are remnants of their human DNA

@@KeithDCanada The Wraith don't exchange DNA or even have sex. They create new Wraith in birthing chambers that are in ships or on planets. Queens run Hives, but never mate with drones, nor lay eggs. SPOILER ALERT!!! When the Wraith finally got a hold of a ZPM and hooked it into one of their birthing machines it had so much power they were able to make Trillions of new Wraith. Swamping the Atlantians with shear numbers.

Good episode. Wish they'd given the team a better plot for the first episode with Ronin as a team member, doesn't give him much chance to show his worth. The jokes are solid though and this is definitely a plot I'd expect to see in the series, just not as Ronin's first mission.
