They could have done a prequel series on the ancients and their rise and fall. it's an intriguing story, I think that's where Atlantis got it's sense of myth-ism. You always want to see the cast finding that zero point module.

Well, considering that the Ancients accidentally gave birth to the Wraith it could be interesting to see it all as attached to an Stargate Big Screen Film. It could fill up the blank spaces in the story of the series on TV and the films they released.

But their tech was far from the same, how does simple blaster fire that pretty much cant penetrate 1v1 an earth ship powered by asgard shields and no shields compare to millions of years of technological marvel from the ancients including atlantis shield that is practicly god mode given enough ZPM's which they relativly easyly produced, the weapons that spin around the target doing dammage multiple times and can also be seen killing wraith ships with small bursts. Personal shields that are strong as fuck, and millions of other tech that was either lost not shown etc, not to mention their medical power was at least equal to the asgard nox and furlings etc etc, not to mention they are immortal thro ascension. They could have easyly won they were just dumb as fuck which is hard to imagine after millions of years of evolution so i call the wraith winning crap bigger bullshit than saying no politician ever took bribe. It would make heaps of more sense that the replicators were their enemy and they underestimated them before they could advance enough to counter their tech, simmilar to asgard, still requires stupidity and more stupidity of not using ascension powers(yeah whats the point of the show if you can flick your arms and problem solved so i guess its fine but a little more logical explanation would be great) but at least you cant deny that replicators are pretty much 2nd most powerfull shit made in this series given enough time to adjust which is not that long annyways.

Sad that the most advanced race to ever exist lost to a less sophisticated, but more aggressive enemy. And it took an even lesser advanced, but intelligent and imaginative race to defeat the Wraith. The descendents of the Ancients rose and destroyed the Goa'uld, the Replicators, the Wraith, and finally the Ori Prior. A fitting race (Tau'ri) to hand the torch to. I wonder given the scope of the Stargate Universe, and the humans earliest discoveries of alien technology, how long did it take for the Tau'ri to scale the heights the Ancients climbed? Now we need a series where the Tau'ri meet the Kobolians of Battlestar Galactica. The Kobolians (Colonials) find a suitable planet, but with a strange device on its surface. They study it, and Galen Tyrol discovers it's highly advanced capabilities. He finds that it can teleport a being through the gate to another planet, perhaps many. Kara Thrace volunteers to try it out, but a Sharon Valerii informes her she is the better choice as there is only one Kara Thrace. So a Cylon enters the gate............

Oh CGm4n, I also wanted to thank you for making this available in 1080 HD. Even though the original material in some spots may be more compressed in the video, it dose help expand the sound ALOT, and it helps sharpen the image as much as decompressing to higher format from lower quality original can, most noticable in full screen where this video deserves to be watched. Actually, there is (should be) an easier way to have stopped the Wraith. The Wraith needed humans for food. So, give it to them. Since the Ancients were extremely advanced in their technology, they should be able to clone/engineer/create humans with the intelligence of pigs or cows. It's possible they would continue to fight the Ancients for control of the galaxy, but it is more likely, in my opinion, they would calm down with an abundance of food.

Season 1 of Atlantis was by far the best of all, with the desperate defense of the city in the three-part final episode.Pity that the Wraith ceased to present any serious threat from season 3 onwards.As for Michael, they should have killed him at the first opportunity! Instead they irresponsibly let him escape and perform his experiments to the detriment of the entire galaxy .

Micheal ended defeating the "Old" Wraith with their need to constantly "Feed" on humans. You're right, he wasn't a great improvement but his "cull" poisoning the food supply happens once, the future was uncertain from there.

SUPERB video montage! And this is the best music selection of music any fan has ever applied to SG clips. All the editing is top notch and music overlays seamless! A truly great video, you got snippets from quite a few episodes. I was expecting a bit more dialog, there's certainly more audio clips you could've used- that's not meant to say or even imply that they were needed or missed; merely a report of my preconceived ideas :) This is so perfect I'd hesitate to even think about changing it in any way!

Brilliant work, i am a massive fan of the whole SG franchise and am really saddened by its seeming demise of late. I could see a 5 years story of the ancients from the time they started laying stargate, through to their leaving earth, battling the wraith and the eventual ascension. I don't think the franchise is dead, there is more to be told with them and the Azguard

@negochristian1 Thing about the Franchise was that they had to divert away from the action adventure genre that was SG-1 and SGA purely because network statistics showed that drama was in more demand. SGU is a really good show, and i'm really glad they didnt keep it the same as SG-1 or SGA simply because it would get so boring to see the same thing being produced over and over again. SG-1 and SGA were in essence the same show. SGU was the change they needed! :)

I completely agree! The Wraith were far more menacing in Season 1. They were kind of neutered later, especially with 'Todd' and the stupid Michael plot. I also never liked that the USAF, completely in secret, were able to construct a fleet of super-powerful shielded battleships and fighters that were able to traverse the distance between galaxies in days (with a ZPM) or weeks and take on hive ships.

You Cant see the difference? Did you actually compare this with the older version? Because you'll find that there is greater colour depth, additional clips and is slightly less fuzzy. oh and not to mention its no longer letterboxed on all sides.

@makmegs I don't think so. Holograms already exist. We have hovercrafts. The only thing we do not have is propulsion through air without any engines, nor Hyperdrive and shieldtechnology. We have laserweapons.

Power is always an issue, but if we continue to develop Nucleair technology, and we continue the Geneve-project which creates non-natural particles, we could produce something with the same properties as a ZPM: by putting 2 different kinds of particles together.

This may seem like a stupid question... But... Why did the ancients have to drop their vessels shields to fire when the humans can simply shoot through their own shields? Especially since Destiny do it without issue and I'm pretty sure we've seen Atlantis do it after it fell into human hands... Were humans simply more advanced than the ancients when it came to mastering their shields?

I dont think I would necessarely consider it as Humans having mastered it more (especially since I'm pretty sure things like the Puddlejumper ships can for one fully pass through a raised shield), but iirc even SG-1 like alot of Sci-Fi, leans into mankind being more "imaginative" than other more technologically advanced races such as the Asgard. Essentially that we'll think of tactics that more advanced races might not even consider to begin with. Plus iirc The Ancients were initially winning the war with the Wraith, but once the Wraith managed to salvage a ZPM their numbers absolutely exploded, meaning no matter how many the Lanteans killed, the Wraith would just keep on comming

What I don't understand throughout the whole Wraith war is, if the Ancients were fighting a DEFENSIVE war, HOW could they POSSIBLY lose? I mean, consider, they've got those killer drones, right? Why not build multiple silos for them around (on a planet or whatever), then use them ALL AT ONCE to strike down the ENTIRE fleet of Wraith ships at once? When they have such POWERFUL shielding, they can last YEARS of bombardment with those Z.P.M.'s, Why couldn't they just make say, a PRIMARY shield, with a SECONDARY backup, and a third Z.P.M. powering a complete drone-weapons system? I mean, in ANY war, it's about ATTRITION. How long does it take to BUILD a Wraith ship? Sure, they can CLONE their troops, but the SHIPS? You can't clone those. Even if they're GROWN, how long does it take? Certainly not little enough time to carry on against an equal or better-armed force than the Ancients; massive losses would require them to fall back at some point, and eventually find themselves in the same position as the Ancients; too many foes to contend with, and not enough resources. Even their FOOD supply would've soon become a problem, with a whole GALAXY already being EATEN by them... ...troops need to eat, thus, if they've taken EVERYTHING already, what's left? No, I don't see how it's even possible for the Wraith to have won. Even the REPLICATORS would have a hard time of it I think.

SG1 gave the impression the Ancients were this mega advanced, all powerful “almost” flawless race. So advanced and wise they evolved beyond the flaws we lesser-evolved humans now struggle with. Yet it turns out they weren’t as evolved as we were led to believe, their flawed un evolved like human judgment was instrumental in getting their asses kicked by a race of space vampires. The reasons given for the defeat were poor, relied on unlikely plot devices and very un-Ancient like behaviour.

@GCm4n the ancients should have used Janus weapon that destroys wraith ships when they enter hyperspace... in the end, the wraith were feeding on other planets so you could say they were already dead. or you could shutdown the stargate network, which has been proven possible with a virus has seen on stargate sg1.

After everything that humans were able to achieve and discover in all the seasons of every Stargate show, somehow the writers never managed to let anyone discover how to recharge or to create their own ZPMs. To me that's the biggest disappointment in SG-1 and Atlantis. I mean Atlantis itself has a room where ZPMs are stored and can be charged, yet after years of being in the city they never found that one room. Then the Ancients retake the city and almost immediately have ZPMs in place powering the city. The writers seriously dropped the ball on that in my opinion. What's even more annoying is when Amanda went back in time she was told where to find ZPMs instead the damn room within Atlantis itself where they could be recharged, or more could be found. That's gotta be the biggest damn flick flub in Stargate history.

I mean if Dr Felger's modified virus could knock out the milky way gate network then we know it could've been done.

The ancients have done many big failures in the war woth the wraith. They have split their fleet in the middle of the war. That was the chance for the wraith to get a Zero point modul from a lantian warship so they have activate their huge clon Station.

If you want to blame anyone look to the network that used to air the show. They did no favors for the franchise at all. Not saying MGM is completely innocent but they had to play the card that they were dealt. I will miss ALL the shows greatly.
