In my opinion, it seems like in the world of adventure/action films and probably just films in general, this movie is very underated and sadly looked over. This film is a real escape flick where you can really feel like you've gone to another place when watching it. I also really love the score for this film. David Arnold is most known I think for his work on Independence Day (another Roland Emmerich film) but for me, his score for Stargate is his best work that I've heard.

Absolutely love this. But I never understood what was up with Ra's eyes and brow glowing. At first it seemed like he just did it to intimidate others. But then at the end when they sent the bomb up to him he seems like he's trying to stop it or something by making his face glow? Or he's just really pissed off? But then when Ra's whole alien face is glowing through his human face his face goes wide like he just realized it's a bomb that's about to go off and kill him? Idk, it was honestly probably just for show and doesn't have a canon "reason" for it to happen. It was likely just done because it looked really badass, and I'll give it to them, it definitely did.
@butternecrofly71934 жыл бұрын
Someone said that Supposedly he's using all his 'psychic' powers (or whatever you want to call it) in trying to stop the bomb from blowing up, if you pause the scene you see him using the 'eye of ra', by trying to defy the inevitable fate, hence why you get to see his "true form" glow out.
@randomshite82723 жыл бұрын
@@butternecrofly7193 The way I interpreted this scene was that Ra tried to use his alien powers (telekinesis, mind over matter) to stop the bomb from exploding. He had modified it in the first place. He knew what made it tick (literally) but couldn't stop it in time. I was quite young when I first saw this movie (back in 1994/1995) so my interpretation may be off. I have absolutely no clue what the writer/director had in mind.
@RealChiliConQueso3 жыл бұрын
From what I understand, it was a decision made in post production to make him seem more alien and menacing. Same story with his voice. Jaye Davidson's performance on its own wasn't quite working.

Just read a review on Amazon for Rogue One soundtrack and the reviewer said the track "Hope", which is the music that plays during the famous Vader scene up until the end, sounds like this track from Stargate. They do sound similar, but I wouldn't call it a ripoff.
@dontfadeaway39338 жыл бұрын
As somebody who has listened to the Rogue One soundtrack a lot, that is complete rubbish. I actually love "Hope" because it's the closest the film sounds to pure John Williams (the composer of all seven other Star Wars films). It's odd that someone would take a very Williams-sounding track and compare it to a David Arnold track from over 20 years ago that barely sounds similar.

Awesome part of classical film music history.. It is s huge shame that David Arnold doesn't score these epic soundtracks anymore since he got burned by his earlier collaborators for this movie and independence day on 'Patriot'. In my opinion, David was the ONLY composer who could someday replace John Williams with such emotions, richness, and powers.. Alas, instead, he was replaced BY John Williams for scoring 'Patriot'. Since the story broke, I've never really supported/watched the movies made by those bastards who burned David. Anyone knows the story understands why I have such a negative feeling towards Roland Emerich and Dean Devlin. I don't really believe in karma... but funny thing is.. their subsequent movies all started bombing... INdependence Day 2, Geostorm... Good.. you deserved it..
