I think the line should have been said "how can the database identify and match Ancient world names with names used 8000 years after the database was closed up?" Especially since he had just made the point regarding names and his hope of finding a similarity between the Ancient names and the much much later names assigned to the worlds in question.

Huge clue that it's not the program, but an ancient giving them the answer. Both addresses use Earth as the point of origin. That in and of itself might not be unusual, as Earth was the Ancient capital of the milky way, but both addresses use the 𝙨𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙙 gate's point of origin, the gate put on Earth by the Go'auld thousands of years after the Ancients died out. Morgan Le Fay could have at least tried to hide it by using the beta gate's point of origin.

Interestingly enough they forgot about that for SGU, there was that whole having to dial as if from Earth thing but they seemed to forget that the Tau'ri symbol isn't actually the point of origin for Earth. Though I guess it's not impossible that the goa'uld changed it somehow though I don't know why they would do that. Never mind that the whole point of origin thing never made any sense to start with.

why wouldn't you give earth as the point of origin since no Pegasus gate would be able to dial them? To get there you would go from Atlantis to Earth, and then Earth to your destination

@@corberus3119 The Altantis gate could definitly do it if the city actually had zpms. Any other pegasus gate could to with a full DHD and enough power, they even dialed Earth in one episode for a short time by taking a part from the Atlantis DHD and putting in another that was near a power source.

@@TheAkashicTraveller It kind of makes sense to me, you're dialing your position in space, plus the point of origin the dialing is coming from. It's like most phones having something like a 724 at the start of their numbers when you try to call someone. They've always explained the gates as more of a galactic telephone instead of anything else.

Expect that outside of the names, Daniel didn't give it any more information about old English, so a computer being able to understand it to such a level is still odd.

like 4wheal mentioned, i think the way they set up the dialoge was a bit weird, but translating a language is one thing, being able to map a name that originated 8000 years AFTER your database was made is quite odd. Mapping names together is often way harder than actual languages and thats with context clues already. A name that you shouldn't know, about a planet of at the very least multiple tousand that the ancients had with no further context? Yeahhh its a bit suspect.

What I enjoy about this whole plotline is that Ganos Lal, and the Others who let her do this much, just assumed that Daniel being a simple human would take the answer and leave. They never imagined a lower being like Daniel would have the smarts and understanding of they operate to question why he found it so easily and see through the ruse. Which to be fair, probably would've happened to 99% of people lol

Most people even very smart ones would not have been so focused on the fact that the answer was provided quicker than normal. Considering all that was going on, you know life and death of the entire galaxy this plot point made no sense at all. As if Daniel would have been like I just have to figure out why this happened when there were just more important things to worry about or be concern about.

@@frankwright1571 If you stop and think for even a millisecond it makes perfect sense actually. Maybe if they had the ability to leave as soon as the answer was provided they'd have rushed off, but due to the other mission in Pegasus with the super gate jump plan, they've got some time.... as soon as Daniel thinks it out it doesn't make ANY sense. #1 Weir already tried searching the exact same names and failed, so something must've been changed and more importantly for #2, once Daniel has the answers he realizes that from a linguistic perspective they share ZERO in common with the old names they had.... meaning there was no way for the computer to make the connection, unless the answers were added afterwards. He couldn't know that though until he actually had the answers to compare to the original names.

Öld English wasn't a dialect Daniel, it was a language and the sister language of old Norse. Northern England has different dialects of English that are a mix of old English and old Norse, like Yorkshire dialect for one
