The show in 10 years changed a lot from the simpler goa'uld to these god like Ori who are basically rogue Ancients faction. But overall in the scheme of things - The Goa'uld went from dominating the galaxy for several thousand years (at least I'd say 10,000 given the Egyptian pyramids) to basically disappearing in just 10-15 years of Stargate program appearing. In that same period, the following also died - the Replicators, the Ori, the rogue stargate faction and countless others including the Asgard (though no fault of the Tau'ri) and freed the millions of Jaffa as well. Still, the humans managed to go from knowing nothing to taking the first steps to becoming the 5th race to becoming the most dominant force in the Milky Way Galaxy AND the Pegasus Galaxy and taking over as the new Ancients. All with < 100-200 people. Now, that is something (magic writing and plot aside)

Honestly, I hated the Ori as a major villain. They were too strong and successful too easily, much like Anubis, while tied heavily to the Ascension thing, just like Anubis The series could've honestly afforded to kinda build up the Ori in the background here & there instead of introducing them so hard out the gate. In the meantime, the characters could've been dealing with remnant threats and the implausible emergence of the Lucian Alliance as a power that needs to be taken down a peg, while the Ori gradually build up their own power base while the heroes are distracted. What we got was basically the Majin Buu of Stargate villains, that is "basically the same thing as before, but somehow bigger and badder"

Stargate like Star Trek is escapism. Embellishment, cliche and Melodrama are par for the course as well as a bit of suspended disbelief. SGU was supposed to be realistic and gritty but still pulled stunts like this without being whimsical, funny, charming...fanciful. That's why it did not appeal and the others did.

I hated seeing Atlantis end , I loved the wraith their space vampire thing going on with green skin and black rogue leather clothes and the hive and cruiser ships were awesome, and how they can just grow more ships out of a spore and with a energy they can become super hive and super cruiser ships both being a capital ship in there own right , if they found planets with large natural energy sources of lightning to harness it to make super ships and it take 8 months to make hive ship a few months to go super, and found out wraith can feed on animals but they prefer humans because of the thrill of the hunt and chase etc, so if they find planets with large animal populations they can sustain their race and we can go to war with everyone for the thrill of war and might lol 😎 😈

A rather short movie was all they could manage to deal out the story. The crap story "Atlantis was cancelled for SGU" was total BS. I saw online what was considered a conspiracy theory BEFORE SGU aired. MGM wanted out of the SyFy contract, the channel controlled the reruns too, and not enough income was going MGM's drowning (Financially) way. They had to produce THREE SHOWS and then they were done. SGU was doomed because both was tired of the other. SyFy are cheap bastards too. At 100 episodes everyone with their name on every episode is owed a check for life from reruns and sales/rentals. How many episodes does SGA have? Only 99. Remember the "alternative universe" episode where Shepard is a guy outside Vegas, that ran over an hour? That could of been two episodes easily, but that made 100 episodes. Couldn't cut those actors (Like Flanagan, Momoa, and Hewlitt.) a check for life from reruns. MGM is bad, but SyFy is worse. Other than SG-1, which of their series ever ran long enough for anyone to get a check? I think the number is 0.00. Screw everyone over but SyFy channel itself.

Both were basically humans I think the point is when she ascended some hoped that she would see that her head was filled with propaganda which the Ori genetically encoded but she became drunk on power also as the one last Ori she had all freedom to do whatever she liked. In the end she properly wasn't killed but taken out of the picture most likely banished to another dimension from where she can't return without help. To become good she would need to be forced to do so I think one of the main reason she didn't was through story reasons on the good side she would be absolute OP without rules which constrain her.

Everything that happened in Ark of Truth was meant to be spread over a whole season's worth of episodes but SG-1 was cancelled before they could start filming that last season, hence having everything compressed into one feature-length episode.

Daniel (along with the audience watching Daniel) witnessed a few such events. But ascended beings likely have countless conflicts spanning eternity and the cosmos. Perhaps an entire ecosystem or food chain of sorts which just churns competing ascended species/civilizations into each other forever. Skirmishes, battles, great wars which Daniel (along with the audience watching Daniel) never saw.

Watch Stargate movie (1994), then start watching Stargate SG-1 normally until S8, and then the show will continue with SG-1 and will start a "spin-off" series that is Stargate Atlantis that is this video. Then you can research better how you want to watch, but from what I remember it doesn't matter much, but I can be totally wrong. But in a quick research said that a easy way is starting S8 you watch one episode of SG-1 and then one episode of Atlantis.

In Babylon 5, there were two mythical powers, the Vorlons and the Shadows, who tried to manipulate the development of all the other races in the universe. The Vorlons tried to manipulate them with background peaceful manipulation, The Shadows sort of get the races to fight each other, with the victors emerging as the surviors. These two powers decide they finally decide the galaxy only has room for one for them. So, they decide to have a final war against each other. However, these war also involve the destruction of other civilizations that happen to be in the way. Yes, there was an every more powerful faction, the Ancients, who convince the Vorlons and the Ancients that it is time to let the races in the galaxy to decide their own destiny. They too decide to the travel with the Ancients to the other rims of galaxy. However, the Shadows left a group of followers called the Drakh. They were upset that humans were responsible for them leaving the galaxy. They decide to release a genetically engineered virus on Earth that would render Earth uninhabitable in 5 years. While the Earth was under planet wide quarantineed that was reinforced to the point that ships trying to leave or enter Earth will be destroyed, the crew of the Babylon 5 tried to search throughout the galaxy for a cure.

The Ori could've been a very good enemy if they weren't basically an overpowered version of the Goa'uld. They're basically a blunt copy with no actual background mythology of the snakes, having only some minor differences in aesthetics and the fact they have actual powers because of ascension. They're by far the worst enemy/race of Stargate 'verse. If the Ori were more like rogue Ancients who didn't agreed to Ascend, it would've been so much more entertaining and fresh.

No, not like them. Pegasus' replicators were basically childish killer robots throwing a tantrum because they're jealous of the Tau'ri. I would say more like Ancients with a complete different mindset from the ones we know. But not as cliche as "the fanatic religious people" like the Ori. They also could've be used already stabilished races. After the end of the System Lords, Tau'ri had a lot of alliances with other species, but also a lot of them distrusted humans in many ways. May be some type of "Space Cold War", since during that time, before humans get the Asgard knowledge repository, every fairly advanced species in the Milk Way were somewhat similar militarily speaking.

Did not inted for this comment to be so long, but I'm kinda bad at making a point in few words without being misunderstood xD I think the Ori, although not so different than the Goa'uld, present us with new and interesting questions. With the Goa'uld it was clear that they were no gods, only parasites with better technology. The Ori however have all the power to be legitimate gods. The only think I did not like was the fact that they actually fed on the worship and that was their entire motivation, I would've liked them to be a different version of the ancients. I can see how if they decided to intefere with the evolution of lesser beings, as to help them, they can slowly turn it into a religion. I mean you stop the bad guys, so the others can concentrate on exploring, and ascending and so on. So you decide to help them with a book that helps them understand and ascend. To protect them you continue to interfere and kill anyone that keeps them from ascending. In time you start to make rules, people start to worship you and everything becomes that twisted Ori reality. I think this really shows why the ancients wouldn't interfere even when Anubis was about to destroy the galaxy. They can't save us, because if they do, we will start relling on them and that's when they become gods.

+DilophoMS in stargate the ori is basically fallen ascended beings, in one episode daniel speculate the idea of fire and evil stems from the ori. Who in return uses fire as a mean to praise the ori. So you are not far off, the ori represents corruption while the ancient represents freedom of choice. The ori sees it natural to intervene while at ancient intervention is the biggest tabu. So demon vs angel may be a simple way to look at it, but it is correct.

It's an absolute shame that there hasn't been a new Stargate show in twelve years. They left everyone hanging at the end of Stargate Universe, and then just shelved everything. With the success of the new Star Trek shows you'd think it would be the perfect time to resurrect the Stargate series, but nothing yet has happened. I wouldn't try to start over, I'd pick up 10+ years later and start a new series that can tie in SG-1, Atlantis, and conclude the SG Universe show. Hopefully someday they'll pull their heads out of their backsides and do something. Here's to the possibility that with the MGM purchase by Amazon something will happen!
