Worf isn't firing a phaser our the window. He put on his spacesuit and is closing the distance on foot to disembowel your ship with his M'Kleth!

That was wicked.. and the Ancient warship did good. gosh.. nicely done Admiral.. !😊🖖

Somebody better make an Aurora from hell next. Triple the drone damage, more pulse cannons and probably some mini beam cannons (satellite beam cannon from S1)

The Odyssey should’ve done way better. Those beam weapons are shield slicers (on more powerful shields) and their shields can take on immense battering. And that drone barrage should’ve been critical if not catastrophic…

Actually no. Trek makes use of subspace technology to radically enhance the yields of their weapons and power generation (subspace compression for one). We have evidence that Trek weapons ranges in both Gigaton and Teraton (the latter being in the highest recorded end). Also, there's no way that nuclear weapons (even naquadah enhanced) would be effective against DS9 shields (for one thing, Ds9 is able to withstand a continuous barrage of over 50 ships for a good period of time). And, naquadah enhanced nukes are still missiles, whereas Trek antimatter warheads travel at significant fraction of the speed of light and cannot be countered easily (furthermore, only about 0.1% of fissile material is converted into actual energy, whereas antimatter warheads would release ALL of their energy at the same time in a highly concentrated burst). And while Asgard beam weapons are plasma based, Trek weapons frequently make use of plasma based weaponry, and shielding to protect against them. At best, the Asgard plasma beams would be comparable to high energy phasers of the late 24th century... but not necessarily surpass them, and Trek ships can easily withstand them. Bear in mind that beam type weapons are a bit of a novelty in Stargate universe... the Asgard are the only ones who came up with them, but no one else. Oh and if naquadah enhanced warheads are 'effective' against enemy ships in SG series, just imagine what kind of damage antimatter warheads will incur. Yields aren't everything. Naquadah enhanced nukes top out at 1.2 Gigatons. Baseline Photon torpedoes are 64MT... but we've seen them producing hundreds of MT too from a single torpedo (and that's usually in situations where Starfleet didn't have intentions on killing their opponents), hundreds of GT and even Teraton levels, I think people are over-estimating SG weapons capabilities. Remember that rail guns on Taui'ri ships are supposedly effective against most ships in SG franchise. Just imagine what directed energy beam weapons like phasers would do to them in turn.

Yes. The battleship upgraded with Asgard weapons and shields didn't even make a (Harvey) dent in DS9's shields, much less its hull, so let's use a small shuttle with crappy shields instead that can't take any phaser fire whatsoever. That should totally work. [cough] 😜

That was painful to see you get taken out so fast in a puddle jumper. I couldn't help but laugh with that one. That's cool you were able to take down your DS9 with an Ancient Aurora class ship.

That definitely abit off, the 304's can rip the ancient battle ships. The asgard shields and weapons tear others to bits.

you mentioned drones can get through federation shields, but shouldn't the phasers be able to independently target all incoming drones and destroy them before impact? there were multiple episodes in TNG where the D phaser banks had multitargetting and destroying small vessels -- hence ancient drone weapon shouldn't even reach shields much less the haul.

I don't think people understand the difference between Naquadah enhanced nukes and Antimatter Warheads. Naquadah enhanced nukes may be enhanced to 1.2 GT yield (as used by so called 'gatebusters' and tactical nukes onboard the Deadelus and Odyssey), HOWEVER, the type of energy they release is not very effective against energy based shields or armour... particularly those of Trek design. On top of this, only 0.01% of fissile material is converted into energy, and its released as different forms of radiation which takes time to proliferate. Meanwhile, M/AM warheads would release ALL of the energy (100%) simultaneously, and the TYPE of energy being released here for antimatter warheads is far more effective against armour and energy based shields (highly concentrated gamma radiation for example). So, even IF Photon torpedoes were limited to mere 64 MT (which we know they are NOT), they would still be FAR more effective than naquadah enhanced nukes of 1.2GT yields. So, its not a simple matter of comparing yields here which are commonly thrown about in Scifi... the TYPE of weapon and the energy being produced, and its effectiveness are what matter more. Sorry, but I just don't think SG weapons technology is particularly on par with Trek's. Also, Trek's photon torpedoes have been seen incurring damage in the hundreds/thousands of Teraton range (most notably the highest recorded yields were seen in DS9 'The Die is Cast' episode). Essentially, much like Naquadah enhances power output and weapons yields in SG series, Trek makes heavy use of subspace technology to do the same (only in this case, the increases are higher - on the level of 1000 to 10,000 times, if not more). As such, I don't think there's any possible way for the Odyssey to be a threat to Trek ships... least of all their tactical nukes (which at the end of the day are still missiles that can be shot down - photon and quantum torpedoes can travel at substantial fraction of the speed of light, even at warp, and they can't be as easily shot down). As for Asgard beam weapons... while powerful within the SG universe, and EFFECTIVE against energy based shields and armour, one has to remember that plasma based weapons are normally used in Trek, and shields are already effective at countering them - so, whether or not they would be effective against Trek shields is a matter up for debate (but its far from conclusive).

Whoooah whoah whoah. Uh uh. Why wasn't DS9 firing quantums at the Ancient ship? Totally pointless exercise if you deprive the station of quantums!

I tried staying out of range of the Torpedoes. The Station only fires torps at a certain range. It's a work in progress. I do remember Sisko allowed the Klingons to get close before firing on that giant fleet. 🖖

@@RetroBadgerGaming Torpedoes (be it photons or quantums) have greater range than phasers. A Nebula class ship's phasers have a range of 150 000 km, photon torps at least 300,000 km. Allowing the Klingons to get closer was just for the viewers and possibly to minimize missing targets.

Realistically, an entire Federation fleet couldn't take out one upgraded BC304. The shields SG ships use, and their weapons are too powerful. A BC304 is vastly more powerful than a Ha'tak and a Ha'tak can easily resist a 1 gigaton missile. Even if Quantum Torpedos are 4x as strong as photons (I think they are 2x), they wouldn't make a difference. As for drones, one should be able to take out DS9. Again, one to two could take out a Ha'tak.

@@keyboardt8276 I love Stargate and Star Trek and can look at a comparison objectively. Weapons, shields and FTL, Gate has a significant advantage. When you include races like the Asgard and Ancients, it's like comparing a kid on a tricycle to a race car driver in a Ferrari. High end Gate makes the Borg look weak. Where Trek shines is transporters and replicators but again, Gate beats them if you are talking Asgard who can do both on a higher level. You can love both, but Gate is superior in terms of tech.

Star Trek makes use of subspace technology to radically enhance destructive effects of their weapons and energy sources. We have evidence of Trek weapons producing Teraton levels of destruction at the highest end (but otherwise, Starfleet which we usually follow isn't in the business of vaporizing or causing cataclysmic events , hence they tend to lower the weapons yields to a level where they can usually subdue foes). Stargate is also inconsistent with its power levels. First off, while the 1.2 GT nukes were not effective against Goa'uld shields, the Prometheus, Deadelus and other ships of the Tau'ri DID end up using them as standard ordinance with great success along with rail guns against advanced Ha'taak's shields and other enemy ships like the Ancient warships, Wraith hive ships, etc. You're underestimating Trek weapons capabilities. Also if rail weapons and naquadah enhanced nukes are effective against enemy ships, what do you think high powered directed energy beam weapons like Phasers and antimatter warheads (enhanced with subspace tech) will do to SG Asgard based shields? ZPM powered ships may tip the balance somewhat, but I have doubts. Even the Replicator ancient warships were powered by ZPM's and they were susceptible to conventional weaponry... they weren't invincible. Asgard plasma beam weapons are the first consistent use of directed energy beam weapons in Stargate. Trek has been using plasma based weapons for a VERY long time and has shielding that protect against them. I don't think the SG weaponry (even drones) would be quite as effective as you may think. Different weapons have different effects on enemy ships shields and armour. Phasers and antimatter are specifically DESIGNED to be effective against energy shields and armoured targets. Don't underestimate them.
