At age 57 and a life long rider I have lived through lots of changes in dirt bikes. I remember air cooled to water cooled,2T to 4T and last the carb to fuel injection bikes. All those have made our bikes better. My first real trail bike was a 1978 PE175 in its day was a great bike but doesn’t compare to a modern dirt bike. Don’t hate on Kyle or Stark they are trying to make our sport better.

I’ve had mine for two months and I absolutely love it for the flowy single track I do here in MA. Range has not been an issue at all for me. I typically ride 1-3 hrs. I typically run it in 55hp. I have about 25hrs on it. For what’s it worth, I own a KTM 300XC that, till now, was my favorite all time dirt bike. I rode my KTM for the first time a few days ago. I had not ridden the KTM since the Stark arrived… And no joke, I just put the KTM up for sale. The KTM is a great bike but the Stark just makes me smile and giggle while I ride it. The instant throttle response, power and torque are intoxicating. I’ve been riding for 40+ years and for me, at this point in my life, it’s about having fun and this is the most fun I’ve had on a DB.

Hi. how do you feel about not having gears? I tried Stark for a couple of hours and the problem for me was not lack of clutch but lack of gears - to ride fast in standing position I had to keep wrist twisted much more than if I would have it let's say while driving on gas bike on 5th gear, that was very uncomfortable for me. I don't think I could get used to it

I got mine 2 weeks ago . Prepare to have your mind blown . I’m not going back to a gas bike in the foreseeable future . The varg is so superior it makes my 2021 450 feel like obsolete technology. Every person whose ridden mine has got off it blown away. I get the feeling Kyle will try downplay his reaction to the bike knowing that 95% of his followers are probably 40+ year old strictly trail riders who are more narrow minded

I received mine in mid-February (also in Utah). It’s the best (most fun) bike I’ve ridden in my 60 years (actually only 52 years of riding) and thousands of hours on various bikes, including racing MX and hare & hound desert racing. When I ride, I take out three bikes: the YZ450f, YZ250x (2-stroke), and the Stark. Riding the dunes with the Stark at 35 HP is much easier than with the 250x. If I crank up the Stark to 45 HP, it climbs like the 450f. I even tried it at 70 HP at Knolls on the flats, but it was tough to keep the front end down at speeds of till about 45 mph. Surprisingly, I beat my friend’s 2024 YZ450f in a drag race when I only had it set to 45 HP. I'm getting at least an hour of good riding in the desert between charges, easily recharge in an hour with my 6000w generator. that's when i just go out on one of the other bikes. I was hoping to hit ;the MX track this weekend, but winter returned, but with the jumps and whoops i've found in the desert i have little doubt that it won't be a blast on the track. BTW it definitely feels the most planted and tracks the best of any other bike i've ridden in the deep sand whoops. Nothing like instant torque no matter the speed or really the HP setting - you are always in the correct gear - great bike for teaching new riders as you can set it up like a XR100 to start. By the way, did you all see that Stark just released the racing mode feature? Keep an eye out for more of these bikes racing against ‘legacy’ models. And Kyle, why don’t you venture out to Cherry Creek and Little Sahara more?"

Range is the crux for these. They are fun to ride for sure speaking from experience. If you can make these last for 1.5 hrs you either are really small, riding slow smooth terrain, or are a slow rider. If you're an aggressive rider, in sand, or heavy they give you 45 minutes of fun.

Inflation is a world problem right now (because trump and other world leaders were printing money during Covid, nothing Biden did caused it) and the U.S. has had the lowest of any country. Being a Canadian I’m jealous of your low inflation and economic position…Biden has done an amazing job (crime is down, Jon’s are up) and you need to fact check the trump talking points. Using the Hand back brake is so much better than the foot brake. So much easier to keep your feet in the proper position. Takes a few minutes to get used to it. If you turn off regen then letting off throttle feels like a Two stroke since there is no engine braking. Electric bikes are just easier to ride. They are really nice for a Vet rider on the track.

I get not being able to get a cylinder for a 20 year old bike but one that's 2 years old is pretty unacceptable to me. All these companies seem to be having issues as of late and its a shame with how high the cost is on everything.

Can you setup electric brakes or just regen? With my electric RC cars all the braking is done by the electric motor effectively applying power in reverse and they are way more effective than the nitro versions of the same car. I suppose its not worth it vs. just using regen given the bike already has range concerns, but would allow you to apply whatever level of "engine braking" you want. in RC cars we call it "drag brakes" where it applies some standard amount of brakes whenever you let off the throttle. Should note that in the RC cars the motor powers all 4 wheels, so you would still need to apply the front brake separately on the bike.

Are you expecting an actual physical clutch? So adding new wear parts, now needing oil and oil changes, etc.? (I suppose you could have a dry clutch) that doesn't make any sense. Some sort of "digital" clutch could make sense but not really because you don't need to "spin up" the motor separate from how you want the power delivered. The throttle on ICE bikes is to control the RPM's, then the clutch engage power. I can agree that having a better mechanism to have finer control over power delivery would be nice vs. only having the twist throttle. I think having a more programmable throttle position, or maybe even switching over to a thumb throttle or a lever throttle may make more sense to give finer control. Or setting up the power levels like "gears" and quickly "shifting" between them.
@MrPerattzi
@MrPerattzi 4 ай бұрын
Having a clutch gives you two ways to control power instead of one in a way. Like you say for diner power inputs. Also In my mind I just imagine that when you give it too much throttle on a gas bike and things get away from you, you pull in the clutch and control it.

I’ve read so many comments saying this , if you think clicking a gear and pulling in a clutch is an important part of riding i think you’re mistaken , that stuff gets in the WAY of the riding experience! I got a varg a month ago and find so much more fun that my 450 . Removing unnecessary shit enhances the experience by allowing rider to fully focus on the actually riding ! You feel every movement of the bike , you feel your body position and technique and are far more in tune with that when you aren’t trying to constantly move feet out of positing to break and change gears . You can focus on lines better , can focus on power delivery to rear wheel better . Everything is better . So many people can’t deal with the fact that electric bikes aren’t loud . I’d you think they don’t have soul ride one on high power settings you might just be surprised . Power like you can’t even imagine

I don't think this is the best bike for this type of riding. The areas are wide open and the spaces are huge. The range is going to be detrimental in this type of riding. But most people don't ride in stuff like this. Get it in some woods on tougher/technical terrain or on a closed track. Be that as it may I feel Kyle is confused. He so badly wants to hate it. But he likes it. I can tell. 😜 But he's eventually going to complain about the range. But again, not the best bike for what was exhibited in this video. So now on top of all your gear your lugging a generator (with fuel) to your riding spot or pack up and go home? Electric bikes are purely track unless you get batteries you can swap out, even then, you exhaust those and your back to needing to charge. At a track you atleast have a chance of having a power source to plug into depending on your track. Ride what ever you own in what ever situation you want, that's whats awesome about riding.
