Helps eliminate coating from getting on the stainless. If not wiped off completely the stainless will rainbow.

How long do I have to wait to apply a second coat?
@eriewoodworking45792 жыл бұрын
Nicely done video! I noticed that on the first coat you didn't do the non-skid, at least on the video. When you did the second coat, you were showing the non-skid. Did you apply two coats to the smooth, then come back and do one coat on the non-skid in a separate step? If so, why not apply two coats to the non-skid?
@topdockpro2 жыл бұрын
I don’t recall, but I believe we did 2 coats on the nonskid. Perhaps just didn’t show it in the video. You can coat it however you prefer, I think we started with the nonskid and worked off the boat each time.

Hello I hope this gets to you in time, I will be doing the following steps: Starke Yacht Care 1 Restructure Heavy Cut Compound 1 Triple P 1 coat of Repel Pro 1 coat of Liquid Kraken Marine Grade Graphene 1 coat of Replenish Also, do I leave the coating on the nonskid without wiping the coating off?
@topdockpro9 ай бұрын
No that’s not a good process. It will NOT be effective. 1. Starke Level R (wool pad and rotary buffer) 2. Starke Elevate or Finish R (foam pad) 3. Wash boat with Dawn Dish Soap 4. Alcohol Prep 5. Triple P 6. 1 Coat of Repel Pro 7. 1 Coat Liquid Thor or Repel Pro 8. 1 Coat of Replenish (24 hrs after ceramic)

@topdockpro Жыл бұрын
Yes you can ceramic coat cars with these products
@andyray19833 жыл бұрын
Great videos! If the benefit of Kraken w/graphene is for less water spotting, when topping with sio2 sprays like Replenish do you lose those benefits, since “regular” sio2 is the sacrificial barrier? Would a graphene based detail spray be better?
@topdockpro3 жыл бұрын
I know it may seem confusing! Sio2 will actually increase the water beading effects. It helps to reactivate the ceramic coating as time goes by. Starke has a graphene based detail spray. That is recommended for the graphene ceramic coating! Hope this helps!

What some good ceramic graphene coatings or just regular coatings I could look into for coating boats? Haven’t a lot of them them but some ones I’ve found are Beadlock Pro Marine, Ethos Boats & Coats Graphene, Glide Coat Marine, Yachte Solar Graphene, ADE Marine Graphene, Strake Kraken Marine Graphene, R1 Marine Nano, Gyeon GelCoat, EVO Marine. I’ve been detailing vehicles for for a few years on the side but finally got an actual business started & am looking to get spread into boats & eventually RV’s too. Let me know what which of these coatings are popular in the boat detailing world, which ones would be fairly to use for a beginner & which ones are just pretty good overall. Would appreciate your feed & help!

I would stick to Starke Repel Pro, Undrdog, or Yachte Solar Graphene. Those are among the easiest plus have the durability you want

do you need to use that polish prep before ceramic coating ? I wet sanded my boat then used level r after that i used elevate can i finish off with the cermaic now as the 3rd and final step ?
@topdockpro Жыл бұрын
I would typically follow the system for each ceramic coating you use. Starke recommends it. Other coating systems don’t have a prep polish so it’s debatable whether it’s worth the time or not.

Yes you can cost the railing! The client not interested. Off of Lake Erie, a metal polish usually does just fine

Yes, I would say so because you have 3 minutes until you have to wipe off the coating. It’s a 40-50% solids coating

I don't know sh!t about ceramic coating but I do know that the results look INSANE! QUESTION what's the difference between the product your using and Glidecoat? My boat looks like a chalk board. I need that ceramic look to help revive my love and appreciation for it once again 😂 What you just did look CRAZY! What a finish! Glidecoat is expensive! Not sure if there is a more cost effective product that can yield me the same results?
@topdockpro Жыл бұрын
I’ve never used Glidecoat so I can’t say much about it. What I know about Starke, is their ceramics are very user friendly, super shiny, and have amazing water bead effects. I always lean towards Starke for any boat owner wanting to try ceramic for themselves. Starke has a great support system and for being a professional product it’s one of the easiest ceramics to use.

Simon, why are the three Ceramic Coatings from Starke appear to be more expensive on average than many of the other Ceramic brands out there? One other question--of the three Starke Ceramic coatings, is there one you would recommend for a Jet Ski? Thankyou. Grant
@topdockpro2 жыл бұрын
Hi Grant! They may appear be more expensive because they are marine grade, 9H solvent based coatings. They provide up to 24 months of protection. Super easy to work with when compared to competitive brands. The design and full system is amazing. Well worth the price and the results. Repel Pro is my favorite

I’ve done many coating jobs and fortunately never had an issue. What you described does sound maddening. Perhaps in the future try a different towel. Adam’s Polishes gray ultra plush microfiber doesn’t loose fibers as much.
@lydiaajohnson3 жыл бұрын
I applied Repel Pro using the same super plush towel you’re using in the video-if it came with the Stark kit. It left tiny micro fibers in the ceramic. It was maddening. What to do? Should I contact the company I bought the ceramic from, or Stark? For an expensive product, I was beside myself.
@topdockpro3 жыл бұрын
I would imagine you would have to contact the manufacturer of the towel. As upsetting and maddening as it is, I’m not sure it makes sense to do that. Once the ceramic bonds and you wipe off the excess fibers, nothing should stick in the coating. Not fully understanding the situation.

Sooo many people try to tell you that you Neeeed to wipe off ceramic with these super plush towels 🤥🙄 you really don’t have to! Those towels are expensive and not necessary. They are nice for a final wipe but to take off the ceramic just use the Costco Kirkland yellow microfiber towels people they work great, come in a pack of 36 and are wayyy cheaper to keep buying when you need to buy new ones

Per foot overall, keep it simple. How much to charge? Depends on your market and experience. DM on Insta for further discussion.

$105-$250 a foot depending on area in country. Someone in Palm Beach can charge more than someone in Tampa Florida for instance. Good idea to shop your competitors

I know this is an old video, you say that ceramic lasts a couple years. What happens or what do you need to do after the ceramic has met it’s life expectancy?
@topdockpro2 жыл бұрын
This may not be what you want to hear, but I would compound, polish, and recoat. The ceramic won’t come off the boat entirely all at the same time. Some spots may still have ceramic and other spots may be oxidized. I think this strategy is best for maintaining your gelcoat properly.
