It's even worse because he actually didn't ruin his second chance... he ruined his FIRST chance. He caused the original timeline events to occur because he was time travelling. Young Ted didn't pass out and miss confessing because he was too drunk; he passed out because Bastard Ted knocks him out to take his place. Jenny never ran off to Clivesdale with her boyfriend like he thought she did; Bastard Ted accidentally evaporates her after she leaves the note and that's why they never saw each other again. He only gets the disintegrator after killing Kilgore, who is Andrew, the guy Bastard Ted assaulted, so he couldn't take Jenny from him. If Bastard Ted never attacked Andrew, then he wouldn't have become a cyborg bent on revenge, and therefore wouldn't have gotten the disintegrator that vaporized Jenny. The timeline where he gets married IS the original timeline, before Bastard Ted messes it all up. Young Ted wouldn't have been passed out and he would've been able to find an alive Jenny and confess to her and realize their mutual feelings, thus resulting in their marriage. Maybe if Ted had gone back to 2019 instead of 2004 then maybe things would've been different. It's really sad

Tinky controls Time and Space and therefore probably knows all of Ted's timelines and enjoys fucking with him, especially since Ted has a special connection to Tinky as he's the only one who can use the time travel office. Perhaps that connection makes it easier to show Ted timelines and communicate with him as opposed to anyone else in Hatchetfield, hence why he's focused on the Spankoffskis

@@jazzy4830 True; I just meant X-Files, Gravity Falls, So Weird and Hatchetfield are all shows where just about any paranormal thing can happen and thus there's a "monster of the week" format where a different paranormal thing happens in each episode. Using the same characters in different timelines is a pretty unique twist on the format, though, and that plus the characters being really interesting are the most intriguing things about Hatchetfield in my opinion. I also suspect these writers will actually have a satisfactory to their myth arc, something X-Files and So Weird sadly lack.

Personal theory on homeless Ted: the reason we see him even in timelines/ universes where Ted likely didn't travel in time is because part of Tinki's "playing" with Ted is to force him to live out life as a homeless man over and over again across all the different realities.

It makes sense that Tinky, as a Lord in Black, would keep throwing Ted/ Homeless Man into his brothers' chaos. I mean, they are basically the embodiment of chaos so what's stopping them? In my mind none of the Lords in Black are causing chaos in the same timeline, either they are happening in multiple very similar timelines at basically the same time or they just "reset" each time. Since the black and white is a dimension outside of time and space it would make since for these events to exist in there no matter which way if you think about it. Okay, I'm rambling and my brain is starting to melt so I'll stop. I hope that made some sense. 😂 (I could also just be way off)

There's been a little more info released since this video came out. The Hatchetfield universe started out as one timeline. Sometime between 2004 and 2019, it was split into many timelines. We don't know when that was, but they have confirmed that it wasn't related to Jane's car accident, which was a popular fan theory. Ted from the Time Bastard timeline got sent back in time to before the time split. He became the homeless man, then that version of him was present for the time split and became part of every timeline. There's a timeline of events on the Starkid wiki to help keep track of all this.

Especially the moment of both Emmas shouting at Paul to give one of them the knife, without any input from Nick and only slight movements back and forth from Lauren, I could easily tell which Emma was talking, not only from their lines, but the delivery. She gave each Emma a veeeeery slight shift in pitch to distinguish between them (the android Emma had a slightly deeper speaking voice than the real one), and her ability to swap seamlessly to each one in that moment just shows how crazy talented she is.

I don't know, I feel like the ending implies the whole play takes place within the same timeline (Young Ted is either too drunk to remember his future self coming and tazing him, or he assumed it wasn't a drunken hallucination and not worth mentioning, but either way, he says he got drunk and passed out. He then gets a note from Jenny and never sees her again, so he assumes she moved to Clivesdale. Her boyfriend ends up being the villain in the future) and it's only after he dies as the homeless man that he starts entering other timelines, so I assumed that the stuff from Paul and Emma's wedding in the beginning of the second episode was actually from later in Fake Paul and Fake Emma's wedding? I've only just watched it for the first time and haven't gotten the chance to rewatch knowing the twist, so I could be wrong…

Yo, I'm one of the privileged fucks who payed to see Nightmare Time back in October, so this is my second time watching. I totally didn't pick up on this last time, but I just realized Executive Kilgore is totally the guy who was gonna take Jenny to Clivesday! He's referred to as "Andy", which is a common nickname for Andrew; he introduces himself as Executive Andrew Kilgore. He had the locket when he was introduced. Obviously, both of them are played by Jeff Blim. Ted beat him with a crowbar, which probably caused him serious injuries that made him a cyborg. Which is why he has a vendetta against him in 2104 (100 years from 2004)! God, Nick and Matt Lang are good writers.

Honestly, the idea that Ted is the Homeless Guy in every Hatchetfield Timeline makes sense, at least for me. If we’re looking at the Hatchetfield Multiverse like the traditional one, then that means every possible world is like a branch on a tree, each splitting off from the main timeline because of some inciting incident. Even the timeline Homeless Ted came from had such an incident when he encountered Tinki. However, by Ted sending himself so far back in time, before ANY inciting incident, he’s allowed himself to exist in every possible version of Hatchetfield, with his existence not going poof because the timeline that created him is still out there. He’s just not involved with it anymore. And yes, I know this theory is just my personal viewpoint on it, and it’s probably rife with holes (as laws of linear time would dictate he would vanish if he truly existed in a universe where he didn’t time travel), but I prefer the Multiverse Theory of time travel here; that because he traveled back before any points of divergence, he’s allowed himself to exist in every possible timeline, even if those timelines’ events don’t directly spawn him.

Mainly because Ted doesn't appear in black Friday and the homeless guy doesn't appear in nightmare time 2 (the same universe where TED dies. The theory that I believe in the most is that Ted traveled to a point in time before the different timelines split, which made the homeless guy a constant in all of the timelines we've seen so far. Though I think Nick also said we don't have all the pieces of the puzzle to completely figure out the timelines yet
