The 2018 Milwaukee Brewers were one win away from their first World Series appearance in 36 years. Their team was fantastic and fun...but they seem to have already fallen out of memory...

As a Cubs fan, 2018 Lorenzo Cain still gives me nightmares. If there was runners on you simply were not getting him out. Felt like every time we played the Brewers he would hit a go ahead single than make a highlight reel catch the next inning. Him and Yelich back to back was cancerous.

Same bro. Chatwood and Darvish were terrible or injured, our bullpen was injuries and we had to be desperate at the deadline. If we played better then we could have won. What if we didn’t sign Chatwood and Darvish together? That’s enough for Arrieta. Right?

As a brewer fan, thank you for this video. September of 2018 was the most fun i have ever had watching baseball, along with 2011. From clinching a playoff berth against the cardinals to winning game 163 against the cubs, it was magical. I miss when we had guys that could hit consistently. People don't make youtube documentaries like this about the brewers often so thank you. That 2017 team could also have a video in the future. A team with a bunch of no names with 2/3 of them out of the league a half decade that nearly made the playoffs.

As a life long Brewers fan that is constantly put off with how much "experts" either totally ignore the Brewers or sell them short and continuously put the Cubs and Cards ahead of them, I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this video. Thank you so much for making this! We have a good ball club here in Wisconsin and while yes, they do disappoint at times, and the owner has a bad wrap for being cheap, you'd be hard pressed to find a more supportive fan base. Again thank you and I'll sign off with a good ole fashioned, "F the Cubs" :)

Growing up a diehard brewer fan in the Chicago area, nothing was better than game 163. I was in high school and one of my teachers (who ended up being my favorite one by the time i graduated) put the game on the smartboard and let me watch the whole class time. After Keon made the catch, I got to walk around school and celebrate in the faces of all the cubs fans who did the same to me in 2016. That 2018 was so special, and seeing them in person in the NLCS was a dream come true. so many memories from that year. Thank you for this video, it was a bittersweet trip down memory lane. I’m a big Cardinals fan but I’ve always had a soft spot for the Brewers. My uncle lives probably 10 minutes from the park in Milwaukee so I’d often go to games there (I’m from Springfield IL) when the cardinals were in town. I’ve attended games the Cardinals did not play in there as well. I love Christian Yellich and I sincerely hope he can come back to form. I also do own a couple brewers jerseys and some hats too. I forget exactly which years these were, but this and 2019 were such insane series for the Brewers, even in the regular season. I almost feel bad for Reds fans because Eric Thames, KBO Legend, annihilated them and Yeli cycled twice off them in a month span. The Brewers I believe ran a catcher platoon with Steven Vogt and I forget who else, Maldonado, maybe? Add in the Marlins gaining basically nothing for Yelich…good years as a Brewers fan
@Tyrunner0097
@Tyrunner0097 6 ай бұрын
Yelich had a stretch of 154 games from the latter half of 2018 going through early 2019 where he'd put up offensive numbers that were almost completely equal to Babe Ruth's 1921 season, arguably the GREATEST hitting season of all time. He was just incredible, and what he did in the final 2-3 weeks of 2018 were just like how Yaz was in 1967, where he kept making clutch hits to carry the team into the post season.

I always get sad when I think about this team and I'm not even a Baseball fan (I just stumbled upon this video which jogged my memory of this team, and what I'm about to write). What makes me sad is that my Dad has been a Brewers fan for as long as I can remember and he really thought this was their chance. When Puig hit the HR in Game 7 I just remember seeing him slump back in his chair with a depressed look on his face. I remember the exact words he said after the game:"I don't think I'll ever see the Brewers win a World Series." Thankfully he's also a Bucks fan who won the NBA championship a few years later, but that still hurt.

I remember watching that division tie-breaker game against the Cubs and starting to mourn the demise of that once-in-a-lifetime championship group after it was over. I knew the Cubs would no longer be a viable threat to win a title after that moment and would likely return to the lean years of the past. It was tough to take. Ironically, if MLB had made the change to eliminate tie-breaker games then instead of doing it a few years later, the Cubs would have won the division instead of the Brewers.

My father and I watched Baseball forever together. He's from Illionois and was a true Cubbie fan despite being from the South side. In 2007, when Braun and Fielder shined, we watched the Brewers, and every year after that. And nothing was more important to us than that 2018 season. I watched the Brewers-Cubs game at school and was ecstatic to see them advance and tell my father as he was on the road truck driving. We watched them crush the Rockies full well, knowing they would. Then the day came for Game 7. My father and I banded together in our one bedroom apartment watching it on his phone, looking at Yelich dominate that early home run lead. Then, when Hader didn't come back for the 7th inning, we knew it was over. We both felt it before it started. I don't really know what it was, but it hurt us. Because to this day, my father and I haven't watched a single Baseball game since that Game 7. We knew that's as close as Milwaukee would get, and it hurt to see it end the way it did.

Even as a Reds fan, Darth Hader was one of my favorite pitchers to watch. What's disappointing to see in this video though is how Christian Yelich swelled after he went to the Brewers and teamed up with Braun. Yelich really didn't really need to do steroids, but it is incredible how he could do just a _little_ and could be widely considered the best hitter in the league. That alone says a lot about his natural talent.

That was pretty good but this CREW was Birthed by that CREW and it is our time NOW! This roster has turned into one of the most balanced in baseball and it has found its bat at a rate higher than any team right at the best possible time for it! We do not need Yelich to win it all this year. Though we sure would like to see his bat come to life and top this sunday with a big red cherry! Our pitching is miles BETTER than 2018 . Our defense is the best in team history and we have sluggers that clutch bat all the time! It is rarely the same bat that wins us a game and we win a lot! Mark C and C Santana have turned this team around on offense. Couple that with rookies like A Monastero,Taylor, SAL FRELICK , Brice Turang and you have a team who can win this whole damn thing in 2023 ! Long gone is the need to rely on one guys bat to turn out wins! Willy hits about as often as you need him to and Contreras is a Superstar in all terms . For a team who struggled through the first part of 2023 with not a lot of hitting .Suddenly like a flash this team has gone from a bottom club to the most productive offense in baseball right before the playoffs. This team will outpitch EVERYONE and there is no team as good as the brewers with starting pitching through the pen! Airbender is the best closing pitcher in Brewers history and his supporting cast of Abner Uribe, Payamps,Millner,Elvis, and all the others make the best bullpen in the world today. This team had a deficiency at 1st base all season long until trade deadlines loomed. Suddenly a team who could not defend 1st base found a player with skill and poise to play that base and who brought along a bat that can devastate opponents . Throw in one Mark Canha ! The guy who is now batting over 400 with runners in scoring position and who is showing this team what CLUTCH means and the Crew is now a team no one fears but who will run through opposition like water come this postseason! The Brewers of 2023 are about to SHOCK THE WORLD . No one believes this team can win it all in 23'. NO ONE . However that is what is about to happen! WE have waited 5 decades plus for this team to martialize and it finally has happened. Yelich is not even playing because he is terrible by comparison to the rest of the Crews current roster. HOWEVER. If Yelich finds his bat right before the playoffs this would prove the roster has more than enough to dominate any team in baseball through a series. Tonight we win the Central ... Tonight the earth starts to shift and show the road to a World Series and it is developing a script that only baseball royalty can read. The 2023 Brewers are going to win it all this year . If the Braves plane crashes ..

Regardless of who won that 2018 NLCS, nobody stood a chance against Boston. One of the greatest baseball teams ever assembled

I miss that team. Even if we would’ve beaten the dodgers and made the WS and lose, I’d be slightly happy. Lot of us have doubted that we’d ever see them in a WS in our lifetime. Game 7 still stings

I never forgot this team, just a shame since Yelich regressed the offense never got back to what it use to. Still good but that’s cuz the NL Central been the second worst division, as the only team that can challenge them is a rebuilding Reds that are playing with fire rn.

As a Dodgers fan I view this team as the one Matt Kemp and the Dodgers beat to obtain redemption for the MVP Ryan Braun stole. To this day its been my favorite playoff series of all time. Wish Roberts made better pitching decision in the WS (Madson warming up gives me nightmares) this Dodgers team while forgettable was scrappy and I could have easily seen them take it to a full 7 games had the skipper just made better choices.
