This launched at 11 pm here in california, I think im the only person to see it! Lol im looking forward to this game! The whole concept combines some of my favorite game elements: metroidvanias, map building, space exploration and pixel art! 🔥👍🏻

I think this is pretty cool, and has potential (as many player-powered games do) but also I was pretty turned off to clicking on this by the AI made thumbnail. The assets and game itself are pixel art and presumably hand made, but the use of AI is always an insult to artists even if it's not in the game. I hope that the image can be replaced down the line and is placeholder, as you clearly have dedication for the in game assets and UI details? If you're insistent on having a detailed image for this, it would be both better received and look better to make something for real when you have time/can afford to pay an artist to do that.

Hi - thanks for the feedback, and I will be 100% real and honest in my response. The thumbnail isn't used in the game, and some of the elements are composited from art that I personally created for the game. I didn't go to an AI art creator and tell if to give me that image and that's what it spit out. A few elements are AI generated, and this is because when the game started development, I had an artist that, unfortunately, took another job and never started work on the game, so I had to do most of the art myself, and I am definitely NOT an artist. I would have loved to have been able to hire an artist, it certainly would have meant a LOT less stress and work for me, but it just wasn't an option. I do have concerns about AI and its future. When a company like Coca Cola creates an entire ad using AI, saving themselves potentially a million dollars - that's a big problem. They could have absolutely afforded to create that ad. They simply chose not to. And many AAA game developers have even admitted they'll be using AI moving forward on their games. These are wealthy companies that will absolutely use AI to take away jobs. And the irony is that - there's a really good chance that one day AI is going to take away their jobs too. For Starlair, there were no jobs lost, because I wouldn't have been able to hire someone to do art for me. If I could have, I would have absolutely done it. If the game turns out to be a success the first thing I would do is find someone to help out with the graphics - but there are no guarantees. I think a lot of devs believe they can just release a game on a console and it will sell, but I guarantee there's at least 1,000 games on the Switch that haven't even sold 100 copies. You just never know.
