Looking at the bike infront of you I can't picture a more perfect balance of geometry. Then you say you only offer it on larger sizes and it all makes sense - I'm a tall one and always struggle with geometry on off the shelf frames. Sadly it's the wrong time of the wrong year otherwise there would be an order placed immediately. Envious of everyone who gets one of these beautiful machines

What’s your thoughts on the OChain Joe? Noticeable upgrade or just a nice to have?
@joemcewan2950 Жыл бұрын
Only done a few rides on it , but it does seem to dampen out the chain a little. But be sure to understand this; Pedal Kickback is NOT REAL!!!! When the suspension compresses, the upper part of the chain goes loose and flaps about, watch a Pinkbike Huck to Flat and you can see this. It is the flapping chain that you feel in your feet. What the OChain does is to dampen out the flapping chain. But it does seem to do that well, essentially giving a more solid feel to the pedals.

@@joemcewan2950awesome explanation, cheers. I wonder if it also works to dampen out the feeling of engaging the freehub as you feet are moved slightly when you descend. Interested to see if you continue using it :)

Joe, What's the rationale behind the air shock on this build? I recall reading that your bias was firmly towards coil shocks for suspended Starlings - just curious about this derogation from the typical setup. Cheers.

We don't discourage air, we just think coil gets the best out of the frames... though each have their own pros and cons. In the case of the one in the video - EXT / Mojo sent it over for us to have a play with an we're excited to see how it rides.

@waltgilbert Starling suspension design is VERY linear - i.e it has no built in progressivity, so you get maximum compliance with a linear coil shock (at the expense of blowing through the travel more than other bikes). Air shocks are naturally progressive, even in larger air can volumes. A starling with an air shock should feel similar to other enduros with built in progressivty running a coil shock.

Will you be offering SQLabs parts on builds?
@starlingcycles835 Жыл бұрын
We're working on that - right now we're just using the parts as a bit of a showcase... but it's possible. They're great bits of kit!

Still love my v2 XL Murmur but definitely would have gone for an XL Mega Murmur if that had been an option 😍
