Starlink's trillion dollar opportunity surrounds their ability to provide cheap internet bandwidth to people on all corners of this planet, providing the same service to corporations, and connecting all the world's IoT devices. Starlink stock may not be publicly traded, but when it does have an IPO, it may very well be the best space stock to own. SpaceX owns Starlink, and SpaceX stock is private as well, so investors don't have any options today. However, investors who are holding other space stocks like AST Spacemobile, Rocket Lab, or Virgin Orbit ought to be very concerned with how Starlink and SpaceX may absolutely dominate the competition. If you're invested in space stocks, or thinking about investing in space stocks, then this is a video you'll want to watch now.

Very much of the same mind that of the space sector, PL and RKLB are the only two that really appear to have reasonable potential. Not that the others won’t become anything, but just fall too much into the speculative category. Having a solid software platform and data analysis is key for PL. The vertical integration for RKLB is their winning attribute. Their Space Systems segment is what will make RKLB. Launch is needed in terms of providing that full vertical, but I don’t see it as a big revenue driver.

Joe, great comparative video! it was a little painful to watch since I own several thousand shares of ASTRA Space with an average price of $4.68. This stock is not in your favorite list of potential good space stocks., and this simply means that I might be in trouble with this investment. Starlink is interesting, and I will probably invest in it at some point when the stock is publicly traded. One thing is sure, I have no intention to buy starlink or any stocks on their IPO day. I was tempted to buy BKSY in the past, but I never did.

Thank you for the feedback! Last we heard Astra had several failed launches and was retiring the rocket. Not a good look for a company that's supposed to launch rockets for a living. You're right. The IPO would be chaotic to say the least. We like to let IPOs settle a few months before taking a look. - like Mobileye's recent IPO which we're still kicking the tires on. All space SPACs have lost investors money losing an average of 75%.

Starlink1 has had to apply a data cap so there are customers who are disappointed with the bandwidth after paying for an expensive dish.

I have Starlink, Signed up the hour it was opened for pre-order and was one of the first to get a dish. My wife and I both work from home full time, regularly on video conference while multi-tasking many other things. I’ve not seen any data-cap issues. While at first there were short drops, anymore this is rare. The service got better every month since we got it to the point I don’t even notice anything. We also live in a wooded area with obstructions in view of the dish.

Highly doubt spinoff anytime soon. Starlink could be the only thing that keeps Starship alive until it scales

One wonders what capabilities 3,550 satellites gives. They should be able to achieve total planet coverage with that number. We read they had 500,000 subscribers as of June 2022. They can boost that number exponentially with current infrastructure. Maybe it's a matter of marketing now?

If you get that many satellites in orbit, with 5 year life spans you will get very, very good at building them efficiently and upgrading the tech will be be rather quick. They might find themselves becoming the largest cellphone service/data provider in the world by default

This week the nuclear fusion news was rather exciting. Are there any laser manufacturers or other industrial companies that have exposure to the new fusion technology that you know of? Timeline for a working commercial reactor by 2035. This seems exuberant but the technology has been proven in the lab recently and the practical use will eventually follow.
@Nanalyze
@Nanalyze Жыл бұрын
Good question. We've written extensively about fusion, like this piece from last year (www.nanalyze.com/2021/06/when-nuclear-fusion-energy/). The domain is mainly occupied by private companies, startups. All of them say they're ten years away. It's a running joke. On our Discord server, we just had this conversation. This breakthrough is said to be 20 years away from commercialization, but let's just say 10 to blend in. ;)
@IDNeon357

You've been duped. The ignition "success" is not usable in any fusion reactor design. All they proved was what was already known. That burning plasma is Qpositive. Doing it in a 200 Laser crucible was a disingenuous trick for Grant funding and crowing. Such a device cannot be used to ignite plasma in a tokomak or stellarator
@IDNeon357
@IDNeon357 Жыл бұрын
Tokamaks won't be using lasers to heat the plasma but will use magnetrons or cyclotrons. Technology found at your dentist or in your microwave. Hardly ground breaking tech.

@@Nanalyze the problem with everyone of the companies you listed is they aren't fusion engineering companies. They are scientific research companies that are focused on one aspect of a huge engineering system. Only ITER attempt to take all the researched design principles and combine them into a finished engineered product. Many of the companies that you list are just theft from retail investors, that can never produce a watt of electricity from their glorified science experiments any more than a science experiment proving the concept of internal combustion can become a car without all the other parts that become a car. Their contributions are often in the wrong direction because ITER has already decided the best direction to take and is building it in its entirety to actually produce electricity.
@Nanalyze
@Nanalyze Жыл бұрын
@IDNeon357 Thank you for the feedback. Regardless of how you want to define them, these are fusion technology companies attracting institutional money. None of the companies we mentioned are publicly traded so not sure why you think they're fleecing retail investors. If you think the media is duping people, fair enough. Fusion has been "10 years away" for decades now. We're not holding our breath, but it generates TONS of interest from investors which is why we cover it. Rather than digging into technical specifics, we look for the only true indicator of success - revenues.

We read 500,000 subscribers in summer of this year. There are many people - the presenter's family included - who can't access Internet in remote areas. This is a common problem in Alaska where we visited and wrote about the problem here (www.nanalyze.com/2019/05/affordable-broadband-internet-alaska/). There's plenty of demand for cheap ubiquitous bandwidth.
