Starlo, LOVE IT! Great to see more relative content in terms of fly fishing in Aus. I feel like these smaller slower creeks/streams are more relatable to most of us that aren't close to or who can't easily venture to the larger high-country rivers (no big mountain rivers here in SA.)

Not long since i found your channel, mate. Just simply awsome content. Clear and concise, fun, and very informative buddy. You wouldn't remember me from a bar of soap, but i fished with you a few times at Black Head in the 90s, and I worked at Ritchie Ryans tackle store in Orange. If memory serves me right, which it doesn't do very often now days, you where at the pool once when we filled it with truot for a fish out. Keep up the good work mate, n if you are ever up lake Macquarie way, I'll shout you abeer or two. Cheers for the great channel and all the work you've done over the last 30 years. You're a legend. P

So nice to see the comments from young fishos that you're still inspiring mate. When i was 10 I'd have to save my pocket money each month in anticipation of an AAFW or MF magazine with an article from you (or Harro - loved his too). Now they get them for free once a week it seems! Anyway, you're still inspiring me 40-odd years later...

@@nathan-g7t I'm glad you're enjoying them. I try to get a new video up every week, but sometimes it's longer between them... All depends on how much fishing I get to do!

G,day Steve. I noticed you have a older Ross reel the same as me, the only thing I don't like is the horrible click. Very interesting water your fish can't recognise it, maybe Oberon plateau somewhere. Go the mighty adams dry. Great vid mate.
@StarloGetsReel Жыл бұрын
Yes, that old Ross Gunnison has served me well. I'm not a huge fan of the click, either. I wouldn't mind if it did it going the other way (when line is pulled off against the drag), but it's annoying on the retrieve. Apart from that, a great reel,

Hey starlo big fan of your stuff, loved the Exmouth series, I’m trying to get into fly fishing myself,any beginner combos you might recommend, I’m mainly gonna target flatties, and bream? Any thoughts?
@StarloGetsReel Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I'm not up to speed on the latest combos, but you can certainly get good value in mid-priced ($300 - $450) fly rods these days from various companies. Spend that sort of dough on the rod and go a bit cheaper on the reel, as it doesn't need to do much more than store the line in the styles of fishing you mentioned. You should be able to set yourself up with a decent 6 or 7 weight rod, reel, backing and fly line for well under $700.

Just a question what would the differance between an Anarchy 7'0 2-4kg compared to a Zodias 7'0 Light and what would be best for bream fishing down at East Gippsland Vic
@StarloGetsReel Жыл бұрын
Not a lot. Higher quality components and blank material in the Zodias, but performance-wise, fairly similar.
