Terry and Amely simply killed it in this video!! One of the best dances I've ever seen. Yes, you can all nitpick this to death, but how many of you can do even do one of his routines with the speed, finesse, and musicality that these two can? Hat's off to Terry for being one of the most creative salseros in modern history.. And to Amely for being a great dancer/ follower and keeping up with him.

is see a lot of comments hating on his solo, not paying attention to her, not letting her shine, etc. I don't agree. When he breaks out on his own thang, which was DOPE, she too can do her own thing. She has all the freedom in the world to express herself just like he did. Homeboy was feeling the music and expressing himself, which is what salsa is about and what makes it beautiful. In my humble opinion, she made it awkward by not taking part in that freedom of expression.

it's more than just "the break, now you go do your own thing". the entire dance is supposed to be together. when Terry danced, she felt like he left her (emotionally) too much. always read your partner. just look at her reaction in the end.

Nah. I agree hes a great dancer, but he used the best breakdown of the song...to show us how hes on beat with the instrument? As if we didnt know he can dance really well. As every partner is dancing during that breakdown... hes showing off his moves, which it is very impressive, but way to kill the fun time to dance that part of the song. To me it showed that he's self centered whem the camera shines on him. Depending on the "type" of girl he dances with, he doesnt show chemistry. He dances and looks everywhere but at his partner eye and to me that says a lot.

(following a lead is different than doing what the song/musicality & timing demand).Just because the girl chooses not to dance a long shine on her own doesn't make her a bad dancer neither goes when the guy chooses to dance a long shine on his own makes him bad, (he might just want to tease the girl)Its one of the good social dance videos.

All the comments saying "he's not paying attention to her" or "he's making it all about him" are blind to what's actually happening. Terry is a ridiculous leader. He actually leads his partner into all parts of the music. You know how hard that shit is, especially in Salsa? As far as shines go, I'm still baffled how shines are so apparent in the social dance community, yet it's taboo to actually do it during a social dance. "Well it's a social dance, so it should be about connecting with your partner." And I 100% agree, but you don't need to be physically "connected" to social dance. I've had great dances where my follow has done their homework and can shine along with me. And it's a thing of beauty when that happens. There's an art to shining, just how there's an art to leading and following. I've been harshly criticized by people on my leading technique, so what do I do? Pick up the pace, watch videos, learn from people, practice, etc. It's the same with shines. You know very well it can happen, so pick up your game. Too many followers complain about being out-"shined" by their leaders. You know what you can do? Learn to shine. #KeepUp
