As a follow I can tell Terry likes his solos and if I were to dance with him I would know that he will show off his awesome popping skills and not be mad at him. I think anyone who dances with him wants to see him show off because to me it's elevates the energy of the dance. I think it's those that are not aware of his dance style who think the follow is not being appreciated although she accepted the dance with him.

I wouldn't call it "redemption". It's kinda sad to think that Terry actually listened to those people. Don't get me wrong, I loved this variation almost as much as the solo dance with Amely. But people don't get that the way he dances is by trying to follow the music. When the same song was played years ago he felt the afro vibes screaming "rumba mambo guaguanco" so he danced accordingly. It should be danced as a "solo", or at the very least most people should do so, but they don't so he was heavily criticized for it. Now he shares the floor with Bersy (who won't follow a "solo", she WILL lead it lmao) and when the song once again screams cuban roots gimme that afro vibe: he keeps leading. He keeps dancing the same way even though Bersy looks like her pants are on fire and she wants to let go and dance that sweet "solo". It's a great performance, I love Terry 'style, but I know he's way better than that. Hopefully the comments didn't affect him and he was just messing around with Bersy, lol. I would love to see another one of those amazing "solo" moments.

If I had to guess, he’s able to tailor what he leads to what his follow can handle. The best leads follow their followers, and he’s clearly one of the best! Someone else commented that Nelly is a long time student of his - I’d love to see a video of him dancing with someone he doesn’t know, and see how that dance progresses.
