I still remember that video to this day! I think the real take away, is the mystery body with tattoos outside the room. The game doesn't do a great job explaining it, but that was Viktor from the airport massacre.

​​@@StarMarshalThat dead Russian guy lying outside the panic room was definitely Viktor from Makarov's Inner Circle.I have a feeling that this HVI might've had some critical info on the airport "incident" in Russia and Makarov's involvement in it.Furthermore,Shepherd was especially concerned about retrieving this guy so bad that he diverted the Army rangers to 4677 Brookmere Road....something fishy's going on in here.

You should see the scrapped plotline connected with cut Shepherd dialogue in the last mission of this game. Apparently, a lot of Western generals in-game were counting for this war to happen so to increase their war credit while diminishing their rival Russia's, whether you like it or not. If that's the case, they're the real winners up to MW3 2011. It's just that the plotline never came to obvious fruition because it might have been a bit too sensitive and subversive, a la Spec Ops: The Line and Shadow of the Colossus.

@@michaelandreipalon359 Honestly....this definitely could've been a solid plotline instead of the usual stereotypical "US vs Russia" storyline we got.As the legendary Captain Price said it best....."Truth is the first casualty of a war".

Oh man....the pre-mission briefings in the OG MW trilogy were so damn good.The music always hyped me up for the missions especially in MW2.All thanks to Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe ofcourse!

For me, it's Whiskey Hote and Of Their Own Accord. Great build up and tension packed with lots of great set pieces.

Alas, even the best music in CoD will can be easily forgettable a day or so after playing a session. There's just something about it that is not as magical as F.E.A.R., Halo, Doom, Blood, and many more. Edit: Shocking too, considering Hans does better on certain movies, while Lorne did quite well for Assassin's Creed III, a game I'm not fond of anymore, apart from its surprisingly good music.

It is nice to have a mission once in a while where you have proper armored support to work with. Keeps things interesting, especially with extra detail like voice callouts.

I do miss fighting in an actual army vs. being a small squad taking on an entire army. Having invincible squad mates really kills the tension when you know they will tank everything for you.

@@StarMarshal Don't forget about conserving ammo. Running out of it adds a certain level of extra tension, especially if you have to carry what you have into the next mission with no restocking.

amazing shooting. this one hits close to home..litterally, my spouse is from that part of VA, after all. been their many times in visits to her family. skeery to comprehend this was the reality for so many countries :(

The two most annoying things about this mission is Sgt. Foley constantly yapping on about stuff you don't care(as always), and the rockets exploding in proximity of the allied armored car, dealing lethal damage to the players if they're near.

0:24: Better them smoking than being a nuclear crater. So, Shepherd, you need help from J-SOC? From the wiki: "A civilian car can be seen driving through the fight at the beginning of the level. The car speeds down the street, losing the luggage it had stacked on top of it, and collides with the barricade at the intersection and explodes." The laser designators may seem or are placed differently here compared to the remaster. There are copies of The Jungle Book, Frankenstein, and Grimm's Fairy Tales in some of the embattled houses. 7:45: That's just a C-130, Dunn. Not an AC-130. For clarification, this is what they're saying: Cpl. Dunn: "Hey, look, I bet that's an AC-130, man." Ranger: "That's why they don't fly during the day, soldier." Cpl. D: "Damn, sucks to be them." R: "Hooah." So many Pave Lows and Blackhawks either flying in with new troops and/or evacuating civilians. 12:52: You might also wanna take out the gunners. 14:02: Harriers fly free! 14:36: HVI has been avenged. 15:00: Thisdead Ultranationalist is actually Viktor, the other survivor of Zakhaev Airport apart from the mastermind Makarov. That leaves one less loose end, right? 15:06: Beg to differ. This was one heck of a struggle, complete with spent flashbang. 15:31: Right... he was actually counting on this to happen.

I've always found it weird that some of the russians here are armed with NATO weaponry. But given the fact that they are most likely ultranationalist paramilitaries under Makarov logistics and given Makarov was a notorious arms dealer, there is some leeway to explain this inconsistency.

I do find it odd too, but probably for gameplay reasons also to give the player variety beyond AK or slightly different AK if they want to use enemy weapons for ammo efficiency.

There's also the scrapped plot angle that certain American and NATO generals actually let all this happen, so to have a grim excuse to make Russia and the Ultranationalists "know their place" while strengthening their own forces by fire and blood; see some cut quotes of Gen. Shepherd's in the last mission of this game, for evidence. Either way, a shame they never kept said plotline up to MW3 2011. At least Black Ops I and II kept their own grey vs. grey interpretations in their campaigns.

Nah, there's the Reaper horn. And she doesn't get sacrificed here, unlike the last game's War Pig and a lotta helicopters over the course of the series. Same with Nazis, demons, ATC, Shivans, the aforementioned Reapers, and more... still hope they'll get reformed, even if it means clobbering them beforehand. Can't. War makes them mad. Poor Hips. Wish Dunn didn't mistake it for an AC-130. Sleepy Hollow bridges, I see. Unless they're biting the dust too. Gotta love that young 'un.
