I used to pick up Pathe News from the railway station. Rush it to the Cinema for showing. Someone needs to catalogue how many people the Queen has met. What an autograph book.

Thanks. In fact we shared Pathe News between a number of Cinemas. We showed it at different times. I'm not sure if Pathe News we aware of this. Although not a Royalist I think the Queen has done an incredible job. It must be unnerving to meet real Stars like Gary Cooper who was taller than Prince Philip. Of course we all know the biggest Stars are the most modest. The third rate modern celebrities are often arrogant and self absorbed. No names sorry. They know who they are.

Filmed on the evening of Monday, October 26th, 1953. Standing next to Mandy Miller and about to be presented to the Queen is eight years old Jon Whiteley (wearing a kilt), who had just finished filming "The Kidnappers" for J. Arthur Rank, his performance in which would win him an Academy Award. Note that because Pathe News was an ABC circuit newsreel and the Odeon, Leicester Square was a Rank circuit cinema, the commentator doesn't mention the name of the cinema, nor the film, "Rob Roy", which would be a Rank circuit release. Doing so would be free publicity for the rival Rank circuit.
