For Onslaught, use Auto-assign in the ''weapon groups'', have Mjolnir group with Maulers on autofire. Put 2 x 2 Salamander pods on seperate group, linked not autofire/autofire. That way, the AI will only shoot 4 Salamanders at the time, and use the other ones on another cooldown. For Eradicator, use Auto-assign and group the Railguns together on autofire .

I used both Eradicators and Onslaught XIVs though in a different duty: Officerless Crew taking advantage of Support Doctrine. They are my center line ships securing the battlespace and keeping the pressure on the enemy fleets while the flanking ships full of officer frigates break them up and defeat them in detail. More difficult to pull off with only Low Tech, however, and requires Leadership focus build to make the most out of that.

Of course, if you focus on having Best of the Best and Support Doctrine, then you have to invest 8 points in Leadership (or 5-6 points for Support Doctrine), which is quite expensive. I'm curious to know if your Onslaughts XIV are Shield Shunt with Hellbore or not, as I don't see how they can perform well without the other skills.

@@MisterG_Gaming The fly in the ointment being that they have regular Helmsmanship, Damage Control, and Combat Endurance, I would use Shield Shunt if I built them with more point defense weapons in mind including Large, but a Hellbore is when I would start keeping a shield due to the maneuverability of faster ships disengaging as they wish and required escorts to lure or corral them into the Onslaught kill zone. Hellbores I would start putting for anti-capital/station combat but I need to give them direct orders to Engage those targets in mind as the Hellbore shot may get wasted on a ship that can move out of the way. The survivability of the frigate packs will depend on the escorts. Eradicators with long range weapons can maintain the pressure against ships the Onslaught could not keep up. In my current fleet for bounty hunts and most Remnant combat up to some Ordos, I have Monitors mixed in to hold ground against enemies, Eradicators to bombard, and Onslaughts to control the space. I don't have Combat skills to partake active combat, but I use a carrier with fleet bonus hullmods to command and conquer.

my current meta for low tech is: - 2x Onslaught XIV - im not using them commonly during battles, but they are important to kill enemy bases. - 4x Brawler LP - 2x Chains, 2x Dual LMG - small, but furious ship. - Eradicators - As many as you can take :D 3x frontal Railguns, 1x Hyper, 2x Mauls, 4x Vulcans. Max range on them. Many of them will kill everything before enemies even reach their optimal range. As you see im using ships with RoF booster. Combined with huge range they are like ancient spartan phalanx xD

With patch 0.96a RC9, this setup is great if you dont plan to heavily fight Remnant (like 3 Ordos in a row) without losses. The problem is Nova eats cruisers when they are alone; you need to manage more the threats atm. I didn't update the Onslaught but it still a good fleet setup overall. Great job 👍

@@MisterG_Gaming i rather prefer to keep my cruisers together with defence position orders. since all of them have Rof bonus and huge cruiser range bonus they create wall of shells, that scares enemy to get closer, when they still can shoot them.

I'd like to suggest you showcase some battles with your fleet to show how effective they are vs various enemies. I was waiting for it the entire video and thoroughly disappointed :(

Great video! I wanna ask, what skills do you mainly put on your officers for the onslaught if the build in the video is still viable? Because the officer I'm currently using for my Onslaught XIV is Helmsmanship, Combat Endurance, (Elite)Impact Mitigation, Field Modulation, Target Analysis, and Polarized Armor. I also made some changes and s modded augmented drive field and tossed away unstable injector for convenience.

Thank you so much! So far, I haven't retested this ship. To see how it currently acts with this build, it is no longer viable. The shunt version still seems fine but being able to get the automated version with an alpha core in the ship is the best you can get. One day I'll have to do it again.

I tried this loadout but its more harder for me compared to the midline fleet guide you made. I found it to struggle against ordo fleets due to the eradicators focusing on the glimmer or lumen frigates despite me ordering an eliminate on brilliants, radiants or Nova's. are there an alternative ships for eradicators?

This video is during the patch 0.95.1a. Patch 0.96a has many changes on how AI works now. I feel your pain :D Nova, Apex and Radiant are really something; I tested it with an old save and what a mess when I see my cruisers being eaten by Novas. If you are considering to use only Low Tech, you don't have many options to replace the cruisers. Maybe try to escort your Onslaught XIV with your Eradicators, but with 22 DP on regular ones, you have to consider to use the P version at 18 DP to get a flat 240 deployments. Personally, I advise you to watch my new video so that your fleet is really powerful to do crazy things in the endgame.

@@MisterG_Gaming actually saw it and what a timing I saw a legion XIV that was recoverable but salvaged it instead. when I saw the reality disruptors eating those remnant ships like it was nothing I wanted to try it but I get the feeling I won't have the chance to obtain reality disruptors. also got any ideas for a paragon?

You just have to be lucky for one of the two battles against the Doritos or even have the bounty. I haven't tested the Paragon again but yes I have a build of patch 0.95.1a in reserve. I would still go with the good old 4 Tachyon Lances, 3 Gravitons, 1 Ion Beam and 6 Tac Lasers for this patch.

@@ImJustJass Glimmers seem to be more fragile. Probably Paragon or Radiant with Cyclones, Sabots could be better. Fury and Astral are buffed now, I will do an update version.

I have to ask could this work a onslaught with a Converted Fighter Bays and Xyphos Support Wing or another fighter?

The question is still difficult to answer because I don't know your fleet loadouts. Low Tech really has a problem providing enough EMP to be able to have an impact, quite the opposite of Midline for example. If you take Converted Hangar, the hullmod has significant penalties for bombers and fighters. Sarissa is an option but the fighters are in front of the ship (so they can get destroyed easily), which makes the Xyphos probably the 'best option' for support. You must understand that you are using a capital ship and that the % range bonus can play a huge role with the Ion Beam range of the Xyphos (can't apply EMP pressure over 1k range). Probably the best solution would be to revisit this ship. But you can share your ideas and discoveries; maybe I am wrong. I hope this helped.

2:32 range would be 1255 I believe..percent bonus is added before fixed values. and you probably know this, but `perfect` accuracy doesn`t equate to hitting every shot. it just mean the recoil won`t make the gun progressively more inaccurate over longer firing intervals

Starsector is an easy game, you encounter a problem: you givr it an onslaught. If the problem still exist, you bring more onslaughts

With the introduction of bonuses from Smods, the change of AI behaviors as well as the new ships introduced into the game, all these factors are part of the issues now to be considered. The Shunt version has its qualities and its flaws, but one of the big point is the Smod Expanded Magazines which allows the Onslaught to do a lot more damage. If we fire more shots in a shorter time, you need more flux dissipation accordingly. You need to swap missiles for PCL or Annihilators for the shunt version, that means you need your EMP damage on something else. In addition to the new patch which will come one day, armour stacking will be more favored.
