My favorite is to make a troll system, red warning farm/military planet where the redacted do the defending for you. Just show up to watch the pirates/hedge/league get wasted. Game's over if the AI saturation bombs your world though, so get good at controlling but not eliminating the natives.

Don't know what mod it's from, but it's not a bad idea to run scrapyards in high warning systems. It's a precarious position to begin with, but once you get the ball rolling with strong fleets and supporting industry, it gets pretty broken

laziest colony guide: do not develop them. build farming, build patrol station, a low tech battlestation and just dont develop it with heavy industry. this keeps the luddites off your back and to an extent the pirates aswell (although you still can bribe Kanta to get pirates off your back, right?)

For the love of god starsector community stop telling people to rack up millions for a colony Just get enough money for one industry and snowball your faction from there, or if your fleet sucks at least enough for an orbital station Why is everyone telling everyone to stockpile millions for a colony that tip actively fucked me over the first times playing starsector Don't do that new players you only lose a part of your sanity for nothing Use the colonies to upkeep your fleet, not the other way around

I disagree from my experience, when staring a colony you have to pay your colony upkeep + fleet upkeep while defending your colony on your stating phase. depending on your colony and choice of hazard rate or resource focus starting planet would not being net positive (unless AI core used) having couple mils in your pocket would work as a sponge to tank some of your expensive upkeep for early phases. yes i agree on one industry at start. and colony should not be rushed to, once you got so many thing that starting a colony is cheaper, you would have plenty of money and a decent fleet. it also doesn't hurt to always have a wad of credits just in case.

@@MeLlamoBauti do you build your colonies in 275 hazard worlds or something? Or do you for some ungodly reason throw hazard pay everywhere even if it's not worth the trouble a lot of the time? I have no idea how else you would be losing money for so long
