By the way JDCollie, if you have your transponder off in hyperspace and try to enter a system, the game will stop and remind you that your transponder is off and give you an option to turn it back on before you go in. So I think your habit there of keeping it on even in hyperspace isn't necessary. Personally I've learned quickly to always turn off my transponder in hyperspace, because I kept having large pirate fleets come smash into my face.

You are most likely more experienced in this than I am, but a couple of suboptimal choices bothered me as this is supposed to be for new players. First off, putting your character points in aptitude like you did gives no benefits right now. Even if you are beelining towards 3rd level of one skill, it's better to put 1 (or 2) in aptitude and 1 in the skill you want. Then, why not just repair your ships in the planet? You'll be repairing them during journey for the same cost. The choice is really between do you want combat ready maxed ships now or soon. Anyways, I'm looking forward to this Let's Play. :)

I've actually been looking for a gameplay series by someone with experiencing, so I can learn a bit more about the game. Your discussion [especially with the experience tech tree] was very helpful. The next update is set to revamp the skill tree so it's less overwhelming for new players. Limit how many skills are available early on, so it's easier to make choices.

Definitetly huge thanks for those small editing-Notes. They are great. I've played that Game so many times but never quite got the hang out of it, except that bigger Ships usually means better as well as bigger guns. Also thanks for playing without mods, i've seen quite a lot of "guides" that used mods without even saying them.

The location for the derelict fleet in the tutorial is readily available to take regardless of whether you do the tutorial or not. Its always an option to make things easier!

I ran into that fleet too when doing a run with the tutorial disabled - are there other derelict fleets like that, or is that one unique for the tutorial / a jumpstart?

@@jonaruo Awesome! I assumed there are derelicts here and there that you can find due to any of the factions fighting, but I wasn't sure about fleets of them like you find in the tutorial

If you like Lashers then fight the Pathers and grab a couple of their Lashers, restore them and enjoy free Safety Overrides for 0 OP! Allows for some OP expensive weaponry.

I mean in the top right it literally tells you that autopilot has been enabled, and that if you try any manual ship control button you'll disable the autopilot. That coupled with him saying that should suffice imo, even if it was a sloppy way of expressing what he meant.

It isn't "Panther" cells, its "Pather" (Path - er) cells, because they are Luddic Path. I made the same mistake the first few times I saw them.

When you do a delivery mission from the bar you always get independent reputation. You go to the bar, you see your options. You are looking for the one that has "Nod" in the description. This indicates that its a hauling mission from an independent faction member. You should be warned that if the item they give you is illegal and you are searched and the goods confiscated the mission does not end. You can simply buy what you were originally supposed to deliver and then deliver it. It sucks but you can do it.

Thank God your using the scavenger start rather than the bounty hunter. Every other video out there has them starting out in the Wolf. Learning how to handle the early game in a non-combat ship (compared to the Wolf) is nothing but beneficial.

I have a question, i recently just killed pirates surrounding a mining station and i am trying to regain control of the station. there are still pirates controlling the station but if i attack it, i will piss off other factions. how do i get rid of only the pirate bosses still in control on this mining station? it wont let me "engage the defenders"

Should I change the battle size? Also, I need help with Colony stuff, I didnt not find a single pristine Nanoforge :/ Also, I never managed to kill a Tier 3 Remnant base, need tips on that too

I prefer a bigger battle size, but that can work against you in situations where you're outnumbered. As for colony stuff, that will be coming later in the series. As will dealing with our [REDACTED] friends :D

To kill the larger [Redatcted] fleets you will whant mid-late game ships. Explore and raid the research stations and if you get, say a paragon(high tech battleship) buleprint or two sell one (not to the blackmarket unless you want pirates to have them) and learn the other. Once you have decent income from colonies and they have the infrastructure to make ships build a couple capitalships. While expensive to field and maintain by the time you have the ability to manufacture them you should be able to suport it and fighting [Redatcted] is a great surce of all a.i. cores witch turend in to certain factions can give you bonus rep with them and with some even 300% their marke value.

@@einarsdarznieks6082 Oh no worries I am at the point where i get 3 Million credits/month from my colonys and i already run a fleet with some Astral and Paragon class ships, my problem was that I had a battle size of 200. Now that I have 400 I can handle them no problem. I seem to be missing several blueprints doe from Tri-Tachion and Hegemony, there I only have 1 and 5 respectivly...

@@jiggly821 If you *really* are hellbent on getting a blueprint, you can raid planets of the faction in question. If the planet has the Heavy Industry improvement, it has a chance of dropping blueprints in the loot table.

I heard somewhere that if you do some legal trade then black market it can mask it, is that true I’ve been doing it on my current run but since I’m new I haven’t notice my suspension being raised I do get kept in every once in a blue moon

Hi! Bought the game last Thursday also due to your videos - it helped to make the final decision and I'm having a blast. Could you talk a bit more about automatic firing? 1. Can I shoot manually from more than 1 assigned numbers or I need to limit myself to 1? 2. Does the computer know to not fire anti-armor weapons while shields are up? I don't want to manually shoot anti-shields and toggle ON-OFF anti-armor. 3. If AI uses automatic firing - does it shoot from all available weapons if in range? Does it ever stop firing before hitting overload? 4. Could you tell more about the (D) modifiers? Which are acceptable to buy the ship on market or salvage and which are not? Are (D) permanent or could be fixed? 5. What determines ship selling price? I see that if I strip it off weapons, the price drops - so I assume that I sell the weapons for their normal value. 6. Could you expand from tutorial on selling salvaged ships as non-viable source of income? 7. I think if you salvage a ship there is a change to acquiring a weapon it had on it too - maybe it's good to salvage just to get the weapon and mothball it and sell later? 8. Is radar profile of your fleet determined by maximum of your ships? SO if I want to be in the dark I should avoid having a tanker or any big ships with high profile? 9. While being a smuggler - If I am in range of a patrol ship and drop suddenly to "Go dark" but outside of it's radar, does it investigate? Or I need to alwasy approach drom the distance already without transponder? 10. If I toggle transponder in the orbit of a planet/station - and trade on black market - does my suspicion level increase? Because if I approach from far away - there is "none" suspicion all the time I see. I can see that mouse steering is ok when you use autoshooting - but I guess keybord for steering + mouse to shoot is the way to go if shooting manually, right? I only played tutorial starts now and leave the system with 200k+ credits every time. But after tutorial I suddenly see opportunities to gain money not that great. Should I focus on exploring with contract? I could get 90k by 1 contract but the system is in the corner of the map, sadly and costs supplies and fuel. My go -to skills are first - salvage skills - than Go Dark bonus. Is it very profitable having a Salvage Rig ship? Just one or to stack them? After tutorial - would it be ok to drop the carrier due to it having 7 speed instead of 8 or would it be a waste of money? Thanks for the content! I hope you'll see a good channel growth in the next weeks.

I've got a tutorial coming on ship combat and loadouts in the near future (there's just too much info to give it decent treatment during the let's play) It will be the New Player's Guide video after the trade guide coming out on Wednesday. (Which will address your questions about smuggling and going dark, coincidentally.) The steering preference really *is* a preference. There are arguments for both control schemes, and arguments against both as well. What it comes down to is the one you are most comfortable with is generally the optimal choice. I'm super stoked that I helped you choose to buy the game. I *love* Starsector, and seeing the community grow is incredibly encouraging. I'm glad you decided to join us!

What is the battle size in settings menu ? How does it effect a game ?

Battle size determines how many ships can be on the battlefield (the setting is for total deployment points) It's mostly used to help with game performance.
