For me I think it's the lyrics that do it. I can relate (in my own way) to what's being said. And the music that's composed is outstanding! For me, it's like a therapy lesson with good music. Revealing things about myself that I couldn't not previously express or put into words, but they've done that for me... then put it into a poetic form, made it rhyme and added music. It's like my life is now a soundtrack..

In almost every way, this is a breakdown of my last attempt at love. From me finally letting go of the walls and trying to be open, to have a healthy relationship. To being used and neglected, turned into a monster, pathetic and weak. Able to see what went wrong, hindsight is always 20/20. All the things I ignored in favor of chasing the serotonin. You get to that point and you understand the why and the how, but you also know it all comes back on you. There's no one else to blame.

This song pretty much tells how I feel about my father. He abused me all my life, which ended my training to being a US Marine. He got under my skin, in my head, and I didn't make it through boot camp because of him, as well as myself for letting it happen. Before I left for boot camp, he pulled a gun on my mom right in front of me. He's done so much damage to my family and I. He's brought the house down on us, and I'll never forgotten what he did to my family and I. His manipulation, his physical abusive side of which I was the punching bag, and his cruel ways of making my life hell. I know it was a simple construct of lyrics but it connects with how I feel about my father.

@avabarron73667 жыл бұрын
hilde105 - Musicic is therapy. Not just for the listener, but for the artist who writes the music as well. Music has gotten me through some pretty tough times in my life, as I'm sure it has for many other people as well. An artists main objective when writing music, is to write songs that people can relate to and interpret in their own way. A lot of song lyrics are purposely written in a way that leaves the meaning open for interpretation by the listener. That's the beauty of music, the same song can have 10 different meanings to 10 different people.
@unknownuser42752 жыл бұрын
Dustin himself has said that he tries to write the songs so that although he might mean it one way, people can be able to interpret it and give their own meanings to it. There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s something we do to try to connect us more to the music

Okay this is gonna be a long one, so here's some popcorn 🍿 I never had the attention span to listen to an album in full without any interruption, skips, just full immersion. I always would listen to shuffled music while doing something else, and starset was no exception. I loved My Demons, Carnivore and Monster like the rest of you goobs who came to watch the video. I even hyperfixated on the band for a while, listening to almost their entire discography, again, on shuffle. Of course Vessels was involved, but I always considered it to be my least favorite album because to me, it was too much. None of the songs were bad, seriously. I love starset. But out of all the bangers, Vessels had the least amount of absolute bangers. That was until literally like twenty minutes ago, where i heard Starlight differently for a bit. (Another song off Vessels) I heard a story forming. I realized that this might be what Dustin had been rambling about in that one genius video i saw a year or two ago where he's being all nerdy and excited about his own band I decided to take it upon myself to put on some good quality headphones, and listen to the album in full. Paying reeeal good attention to the lyrics and sound of it all. The sound is probably my favorite part. If you have headphones like I do, i want you to listen to Back To The Earth's climax for a bit. I cant pick it apart, its too beautiful all slammed together like it is. All i know is that the character we're following is taking a long journey back home after discovering something with such an emotional weight, it has its own gravity. And its crushing. This album is a true beauty. Please please please heed my word i beg of you listen to it in full, no interruptions, just immersion
