LYRICS
And we were bold
Over the world
We were flying through the satellites
We had ahold
of the lightning strikes
When we should have been afraid of heights
And I was trying just to get you
And now I'm dying to forget you
cause I knew I couldn't catch you
so I left the sky
and I fell behind
We were one in the same
Running like moths to the flame
You'd hang on every word I'd say
But now they only ricochet
We were falling away
You left me with a bittersweet taste
but when I send my heart your way
It bounces off the walls you made
Ricochet
If I was whole
I'd turn right now
I'd forget it and just walk away
Cause I've been told
That I'm dragging it out
But I've been dying just to see your face
And all I wanted was to say goodbye
into the fortress and you're stuck behind
And in the silence now I realize
That after all
That I built the wall
All these broken souls
They never make me whole
They don't know my heart
All these broken souls
Each one more beautiful
They don't know my heart
I'll send out my soul
To worlds more beautiful
But they won't know my heart
It's the darkest part

Fearless - I was talking about the cherecter from the song. Long before this official music video a fan close to the band interpreted the song as a guy that made one bad mistake and has been trying to rectify it but all he ever gets is his past thrown in his face.

When his master passed away, their roles were reversed. He became the master to duplicate multiple copies of her, he thought he may bring her back mentally( not just on a physical level) so he made numerous attempts. At last, he finally realized the meaning of freedom, so he chose death to unbind himself from her. Compare this to real life, I think Starset is telling us to head foward instead of reminiscing the past. The future is waiting for you, don't get caught up in the past. Love is just the surface of this song

To be fair, you need to understand the story to music videos. Quite a few have them. Much like Ramstein, nickelbak on a few songs, FFDP, and many others. You would have to know the Ramstein group to understand their music. They tend to make fun of things. When they create their music they create the Melody first then the lyrics.

This makes me cry. I see it as you're in love with someone so much and something has pulled you apart (break up or death) so you try and make it work with someone else (perhaps a rebound), but you'll never feel what you felt for that person. You keep trying to get it from someone else (broken souls) but they can't give it to you because your heart is with the one you love / loved and can't be with. Isn't that always how it is... Two people trying to fully connect but both being hung up on someone from their past, trying to mold thier lover into what they once had and still want. Those walls you can't seem to get over or let down. Even more so trying to feel love again for someone new but you've been hurt so bad before you just don't feel it for anyone even if it is all you want. However the lyrics are so painful too. It's crazy how in love two people can be and for whatever reason one person checks out. And if you're the one who didn't you're left there trying to understand why (not having any closure). After hanging on to every word I say, why do my words only ricochet? Like the song all I wanted to do is get to say goodbye but never had the chance to. What an amazing song and video.

Brandon Caldwell If you want to love, there is no way around hurting people and yourself. As if you climb a big mountain, it is a hard and long journey and without helping each other up, you will fall and get hurt. The higher up you get, the deeper the fall and healing you up will take longer. At some point you may think it’s unbearable and you don't want to go on hurting and getting hurt, but it's the only way to find your place, your happiness in another soul. If your partner is there for you and feels the same, there will be a rope, and pitons and it will anchor your life and protects you from falling. You want to help each other out, with much effort, attention to both of your lives and by loving and caring. There will be falls, small or big and there won't be an end in climbing the mountain of life.... But the day will come, when you realize, that you came to an understanding how your life should be for you. The journey, if alone or together with your partner gets to a point, where you can look back and say: "That was a heck of a climb, but I am happy i did it, because i can enjoy what i have, love and care for. Even if i only enjoy myself now, i experienced life, tried my best and had the freedom to find myself." Choices of action, reaction and time define our life, our personality. There is no best option, or path to take, only an endless circle of trial and error, over and over, until you take your last breath. Life is chaos, emotions like love are the core, the energy that drives us, keeps us going to whatever direction we choose. Without them... there would be no dreams, no questioning and no happiness. Order and justice in its purest form, cold, no individuality, no humanity...

Well, i mean, the heart and soul are basically just chemicals in our brain that get activated in different situations. So if we could find a way to produce those chemicals and the stuff the brain is made up of in the right way, we could potentially recreate those reactions or "Heart and soul" like you call it if we just add the chemicals in the exact right doses.

Theory: The original woman that died was the mastermind scientist. She created the man (cyborg) with AI, robotics, and her own DNA (they're dead ringers for each other) as her husband/assistant. As she died, she tasked him with bringing her back and gave him the instructions of what to do. When he couldn't restore her mind, he felt he'd completely failed his purpose and creator. These events weren't his poor choices, but her demands.

The video was flawless, but the lyrics really struck a chord with me, as it honestly depicts how I've been feeling lately. The woman I'm in a relationship with now... we used to just talk for hours, but now we hardly talk, and the times we do are just cold... empty, and I feel like this emotional wall... I really did build it. Anything I try to say in an attempt to bring back the old her just bounces off, and the wall only hardens. I suppose the video matches as well, as in a sense I'm trying to bring someone back who may be gone forever.

This is really deep... The one that always hit me is: "All these broken souls They never make me whole They don't... they don't know my heart... They don't know my heart! All these broken souls Each one more beautiful They don't... they don't know my heart... They don't know my heart! I'll send out my soul to worlds more beautiful... But they won't... they won't know my heart... It's the darkest part!" In the video, it was the part when he made the perfect one, yet, it was a failure since she did not act like the original one. So, putting those lyrics there, it hit me more than it should have. It was totally awesome! You guys are awesome! ❤

Belle Tarroja "We were one in the same Running like moths to the flame You'd hang on every word I'd say But now they only ricochet We were falling away You left me with a bittersweet taste But when I send my heart your way It bounces off the walls you made Ricochet" "If I was whole I'd turn right now I'd forget it and just walk away Cause I've been told That I'm dragging it out But I've been dying just to see your face And all I wanted was to say "goodbye" Into the fortress that you're stuck behind And in the silence now I realize That after all I built the wall" The lyrics sync up so well with the story of the video

Bittersweet story about trying to find someone you loved in the new people you engage. Its a good story to reflect how we treat each other and that we shouldnt chase the old in the new, rather we should bury the past where it belongs or else it will bury us in problems we couldnt solve to begin with. Such a brilliant concept! Kudos to Dustin Bates, Nick Peterson, and Alec Eskander for creating such a great video.

Obviously starset has their storyline, but I have always seen this song as being with a woman whom you've loved your whole time being with her, but you eventually find that relationship ending trait she has. You keep throwing your love at her, but that one issue keeps growing larger and larger, and your love keeps bouncing off that "wall" more vigorously. He mentions he was the one who built the wall, so I wonder if it's his fault for looking too deeply into it. Those broken souls seem like past relationships culminating into this one though: each one more beautiful as you get closer to your SO but they can never make you whole because it's never the right person. It seems like the issue is with the man and what he brings to the relationship. Wanting more and more from the beauty but never having his ultimate

Actually yes, each one of their songs has multiple meanings. You can interpret them as colorful metaphors for love and being in a relationship, and that's fine and logical. However, they are also a sci-fi band, and so each song represents a scientific meaning. This one is about cloning - you can never create a perfect version of someone. Monster is about how cyber technology changes society. Satellite is about space flight. It's cool and I like it that these lyrics are so deep.

The reminiscing, the hurt, the denial, the anger, the fury, the unwillingness to let go, and the refusal of love's loss. We all go through it, we can never get back what is torn from us and we should let go but don't ever let anyone tell you when you should. Its okay to hurt and feel hate for the way life flows. We're supposed to.

I appreciate your comment. I’ve listened to this song a lot, and just watched the video today. I thought after the video that this was about losing someone from death and not a divorce. But clearly everyone here refers to this in a break up loss. I still think of her often and truly I listened to this song a dozen times today, just bc of the memories it brings of her. Life goes on, sure has after two years, and I find myself wondering when I’ll stop having these “moments” where I fall into these movies in my head and feel the warm blanket with songs like this. But it’s not as bad as a year ago or another before that. Anyways thanks. God bless us all who have lived, lost, and loved.

In some ways I see that she actually created him. If he was imbued with a developing A.I. then it would not be unreasonable to view her as a god? So if your creator/god died and you had access to advanced technology would you not try to bring them back? Consider this question in the context that this robot disregards both calculating logic and the common human understanding of death.

The worst part of a breakup is to realize that beside you there's only left an empty shell of who you loved. And even when the person looks into your eyes like she always did but you can't feel any warmth or emotions directed to you, you've got to let go. Don't think this would end your life but realize it starts a new one. Start using everything you learnd to improve. If it didn't work out you were not meant to be with that person and now you get the opportunity to find the person that belongs in your heart. One day you'll stand in front of the person and in their heart will be a gap where only you and nobody else will fit in. This person will be the love of your life which would never leave you. Don't lose yourself in the past. You won't be able to see who waits in front of you with open arms and a warm place for you in their loving heart, when all you do is looking back. Stay strong and hang out there no matter how hard it might be right now.

And we were bold Over the world We were flying through the satellites We had ahold Of the lightning strikes When we should have been afraid of heights And I was trying just to get you And now I'm dying to forget you Cause I knew I couldn't catch you So I left the sky And I fell behind We were one in the same Running like moths to the flame You'd hang on every word I'd say But now they only ricochet We were falling away You left me with a bittersweet taste But when I send my heart your way It bounces off the walls you made Ricochet If I was whole I'd turn right now I'd forget it and just walk away Cause I've been told That I'm dragging it out But I've been dying just to see your face And all I wanted was to say "goodbye" Into the fortress that you're stuck behind And in the silence now I realize That after all I built the wall We were one in the same Running like moths to the flame You'd hang on every word I'd say But now they only ricochet You were falling away You left me with a bittersweet taste But when I send my heart your way It bounces off the walls you made Ricochet All these broken souls They never make me whole They don't, they don't know my heart They don't know my heart All these broken souls Each one more beautiful They don't, they don't know my heart They don't know my heart I'll send out my soul To worlds more beautiful But they won't, they won't know my heart It's the darkest part We were one in the same Running like moths to the flame You'd hang on every word I'd say But now they only ricochet You were falling away You left me with a bittersweet taste But when I send my heart your way It bounces off the walls you made Ricochet

When he sings "It's the darkest parrrrrtt." I feel it in my soul. It's the darkest yet most beautiful part of who I am.

The last 12 years I have been without the true love of my life, my highschool sweetheart. I have tried relationships and even got engaged to a girl that looked just like her. But no one is her. We can't remake who we want with other people. Not only is it wrong and not fair to the people we do it to but it would never work because the ones we choose, well that's just it, they are ONE. Learn from my mistake and dont loose the person you fall for. 12 years of depression and even tho I'm successful and have a great job, I'm a broken man. You find that person, you better keep them. Don't be me

This song goes out to my best friend who past away in October. He brought me to our very first Starset concert when they were not that big. We ended up liking each other more then usual and he went to Cali, drove off the Angeles ravine and passed away... I can't believe to this day he's gone...his funeral was on my 20th birthday. November 12th....i miss him so much...

Honestly the lyrics to this song are very powerful and the video to match it is unbelievable such a great work of art. Props to starset and everybody involved in making this. Thank you.🔥👍🏻

I don't know how many times I've watched this but when the first clone dies, it's always been really unnerving. Drowning in her own blood 😢. Maybe it's just me but it seems when she slumps into the water she tries to get comfortable and that's haunting in and of itself to me for whatever reason.

Beautifully done. Also listened to this on repeat for days (still crank up the volume and blare this in my car when it pops up).
