Thank you so much for the MNQN reference. That was really rewarding as a fan of both projects. This song is amazing! EDIT: Going a little further into it, I'm not unconvinced that the outro from ANNIHILATED LOVE isn't MNQN speaking to us. The poem there is from Sara Teasdale titled "Alchemy": "I lift my heart as spring lifts up A yellow daisy to the rain; My heart will be a lovely cup Altho' it holds but pain. For I shall learn from flower and leaf That color every drop they hold, To change the lifeless wine of grief To living gold." And then there's the line from the song ANIMAL ODDITY from MNQN: "Some new kind of alchemy I don't trust This feeling you put in me" And then there's the line from this song: "I'm just a mannequin stuck in your plans again Struck by the trance you put me in Plant your curse under my skin it's Alchemy, alchemy" Geez, man. It's so amazing. It all connects. I love it!

While listening through the album again your comment caught my eye. I noticed that in the ending of Alchemy they hint to Disappeared as the circus jockey says the trick he will be performing is making someone disappear, while in Disappeared you hear the line "So come on and all step right up and I'll perform a trick before your eyes I'll evaporate, gone without a trace, off the radar out of sight." It's so cool to find little things like this the artists hide through their work.

man, this REALLY showcases all of what starset is good at, all the different genres that the band dips into. metal, rock, orchestral strings, edm, electronic... i have never seen a band do this so well. it's all so gorgeous and really gives such a cool effect. they have such a unique sound and i can never get enough of it i have a semi-joke with my husband. i cannot skip a starset song. it would be a sin. the ONLY time i have ever skipped a starset song was on a plane and dustin started singing about crashing LMFAO

Someone once said that "Alchemy" sounds like "Carnivore" (Somewhere in Starset's Reddit). Lore-wise, it sounds like the opposite of what "Carnivore" stands for. The BMI gets implanted, and the person is no longer the same. Does the "Pathetic Lifeform" sound like the "Frankenstein" imagery? Meanwhile, the ending foreshadows "Disappear" ("Dark On Me", "Everglow", and "Diving Bell" is sad enough...)

Otherworldly ends with "... but alas, he fell, his cries swallowed by the sea", a reference to the legend of Daedalus and Icarus and a prelude to Icarus, the next song on the list. Annihilated Love ends with "... to change the lifeless wine of grief to living gold", a clear reference to the practice of alchemy and a prelude to this song.
