Flight 4 is so close. I can't wait. These weekly updates do more than just inform. They sustain me. It's so gratifying to see the strong steady progress. SpaceX is doing what an aerospace company does if the goal is the rapid development of safe and affordable access to space to create a Mars colony. Other aerospace companies seem to be in the business of bilking tax payers for the least development possible at the highest cost. Go SpaceX! Go Starship! Thanks LabPadre!

Saddest news I've woken up to in a while. Hearing the crew members' responses about how they were given zero notice beforehand was awful. I have faith that Elon or someone can keep the mission alive, but what a terrible terrible perspective from Yusaku. Pretty sure ift5 will attempt a catch.
@Liberty4Ever5 ай бұрын
@@anthonylosego - Attempting a catch on IFT-5 is optimistic, but Starship is an aggressive and optimistic program. I assume SpaceX will have good evidence of stable precision landing capability before risking Stage 0 on a wild attempt. Honestly, catching a booster seems so audacious that I can't imagine anyone but SpaceX pulling off that trick. It's going to be awesome to see. I still watch the Falcon 9 booster landings with marvel and wonder. After all of these years it still looks like science fiction... particularly the dual booster landings from Falcon 9 Heavy launches.

The cadence of Falcon 9 flights is impressive and have become a normal every day occurance! On a note about Starship heat tiles, it surprises me there hasn't been a substantial upgrade in relation to keeping them fixed in situ! It has been an issue since the Starship short flight tests! Maybe they have been. Since there have been upgrades on various parts of the booster and starship gleaned from the previous three tests, it is the tiles I have heard nothing much about that concern me the most!!
@ginkinky5 ай бұрын
The tiles have been a problem since way before Starship. All the space shuttles had the same problem. They couldn’t find a way to keep them adhered to the surface of the shuttle.
@noelle35515 ай бұрын
@@ginkinky , I forgot about the space shuttle and the ongoing problems! 40 years and not being able to find an answer almost (dare I say) undermines everything! Hopefully someone will figure it out

@@noelle3551 i'm a regard, but i think the problem is the different thermal expansion coefficients of the metal and tile are a massive barrier to getting an integrated system to work. between cryogenic and reentry temps, there is just too much shear force being exerted in the interface

@alquinn85765 ай бұрын
@@lobotomizedjellyfish2171 i'm saying i don't see a path to human flight. if there is 5% of a lost tile per flight and a lost tile is 90% a reentry failure, then this is not a viable system. if spacex can figure out how to glue these things down, i will update, but i am increasingly skeptical
@dphuntsman5 ай бұрын
He has a point: If what Elon said is literally true- that every single tile on the vehicle is Criticality one and can NEVER be allowed to come off at the wrong time- then it can’t be allowed to carry humans, no matter how low they get the tile loss percentage. - Dave Huntsman
