A lot of movies that use a lot of practical effects and animatronics spiced up with CGI from the old days hold up better than some of the more recent full CGI ones. Alien is a good example, as well as Jurassic Park.
@menwithven8114
@menwithven8114 3 жыл бұрын
@@rodew2875 Jurassic park is the most shocking to me! I watched it for the first time in 15 years like a month ago and it's nearly perfect. If someone created a movie today with identical technology to the original Jurassic park it could be successful. I've always liked movies and video games and it has always interested me that countless times over the last 30 years when a groundbreaking movie or game has come out and seemed "perfect" with graphics or CGI it ends up looking terrible 5 years later. I think the first Matrix had the most influence in the last 30 years of any movie for the future of cinema. It's a bit dated now and seems a bit corny at times but it's astonishing what they accomplished.

@@MikeS-ur2ql That was the one guy talking about the bugs not being smart. But they were having a free and open public debate about it. Not exactly a fascist practice. They are not exact replica's of SS uniforms they could be MA state troopers or Irish soldiers in the 1920's. Assuming the bugs weren't smart is racist and probably more accurately "speciesist". It wasn't everyone who believed that as shown in that free and open debate. Fascism doesn't like dissent let alone debate. The enemy was trying to geno side humanity so encouraging people to fight them isn't a half bad idea. The dehumanizing of the bugs is silly because they are not human. Did you see Earth as the bad guy ? Every organized group of humans from Neanderthals to Parthians to Canadians, they will all rally against an enemy. That in it's self is not a product of fascism but of human nature. The fed has elections , there is no draft, freedom of speech, freedom to be a citizen or a civilian. No country or nationality was held above any other the Earth was united. Not a stitch of fascism that I could see.

And he was so lucky to have Dizzy wanting him, cause the way he treated her, any other girl would give up on his ass, his superior literally had to tell him to not miss the good stuff for him to realize, I also hated she died but she went like a pro. One of my favorite movies to revisit every few years. The Action and most of the Graphics still holdup. The Bugs Look Awesome and the movie is pretty funny as a Black Comedy and commentary on Facism. I saw some of the sequels that are not very good. There is a Japanese Anime from the 1980s based on the original book that I still have not watched all the way through yet. Too bad they dont have Mech Suits in this one like they do in the books. I had a Crush on Diz, I would have hooked up with her instead of Carmen.

I still have a signed picture of "Dizz" from Dina Meyer. It was the movie Dragonheart where I first crushed on her.

This movie and book was my favorite for many years :) thanks for reaction! Before this one, "hackers" 1995 were my favorite :) But I wish to see your reaction for military detective "basic" with John Travolta.

Yes, yes, YES! Been hoping you would do this movie for a while now, think I suggested it once or twice. Faithful to the book or not, satire of gung ho militarism or not, I have always loved the hell out of this movie for what it is, a fun, tongue in cheek, over the top action flick with special effects that still hold up quite well today. Some of my fondest memories are watching this with my dad growing up. Excellent choice, Mr. G! Just don't watch any of the sequels, they kind of suck, in my own opinion.😁 Oh, and Clancy Brown as Zim was legendary, one of the best movie drill sergeants ever. Next, you should do The Highlander. Think you would like it.

The funny thing about the explicit army commercials and news reports is the censored parts. They censor the brain bug getting shafted which is funny. But the best thing is that they censored a cow getting killed by a bug then IMMEDIATLY jump to uncensored, dismembered, bloody, human carnage.

I love this movie. I honestly think it was wrong that it did not win best special effects that year. This is a highly underrated movie. Every time I watch this, I cry a little when Dizzy dies. :(

This is one of my favorite movies. Not only are the special effects great for 1997 but the message of the movie is fascinating also. It's a movie about Big government and lack of individualism. Everything for the federation. The propaganda is classic. Men and women life and fight together. They are soldiers first and foremost. The meaning behind this movie is deep.

The book by Robert Heinline, is one of my favourite books of all time. The book focused alot more on boot camp and also they had super powerful power armour. The armour was so powerful that they would be dropped from orbit. I wish they in cooperated this in the movie but they did bring it in to the animated series and in the later movies.

I love how yourself being a millitary man. When that trainee had his helmet removed you immediately called out it was a live fire exercise put that shit back on. "You stupid fuck!" You could feel the emotion in your voice. Sounded frustrated and a bit sorry for the situation.

Man, I've said this before, but, it seems like only a few months ago that I watched this in the theater with my GF and my brother and his wife. Time sure does fly quickly AF! I still remember the audiences reactions. 4:47 And like a lot of guys, Devin, I thought Carmen Ibáñez (Denise Richards) was smokin' hot, but I'm a Dizzy _"Diz"_ Fuentez (Dina Meyer) guy all the way, if you can find her, that's the kind a gal you marry, a beautiful person inside _and_ out. 🖖 _Edit:_ 15 min into your video and I see you mentioned the same thing about marrying "Diz," great minds think alike. lol
