I know, right?! It's a different tone from The Barbarian, but I love it anyway. Conan has evolved a bit, he no longer NEEDS revenge (he got that in the first movie).

Overall, it's not great. However, I have seen worse. There are parts of the movie that are awesome. Conan's fight with the mirror monster, is, in my honest opinion, the best scene of the movie and reminds me of the original stories. Go in Peace and Walk with God. 😎 👍

i like the inserted character flaws in older movies: grace jones afraid of rats, the thief afraid of water, conan swayed by women and secretly scared of magic, and the princess genuinely naïve. Capt Marvel and Star wars' Rey's fear nothing and can do everything

It makes for better characters in my opinion, I was just thinking of this while watching too, specifically with Grace Jones's character, literally a cunning and ferocious warrior, able to take on groups of enemies, but afraid of rats. Like sure it wasn't a huge part of the movie, but it just builds characters and makes them more believable, it's subtle character traits that just aren't used anymore because every female character has to be a Mary Sue.

When you're of a previous generation, you're used to movie heroes having flaws, just like real people. Indiana Jones feared snakes. Luke Skywalker was whiny. Leon "The Professional" couldn't read. Maximus The Gladiator couldnt understand politics. Jack Sparrow was a functioning alcoholic. Sam Malone (Cheers) was a recovering alcoholic. It is what it is. I think that's why Batman has always been more popular that Superman. Superman is good at everything while Batman is simply rich and nuts.

Yeah.. this one was fun but you can see why it isn't like the first one.. this one is toned down for family friendly reasons.. sidekick is not as good..Grace Jones is good but the villains are weak except for the captain of the guards and Bombatta.. at least Akiro the Wizard was brought back..and the queen is hot.

There is a really good biography of the author of the Conan books. The Whole Wide World 1996 Stars: Renee Zellweger and Vincent D' Orofrio. Really recommend it. He was a complicated soul.
