Starsky and Hutch 1974 Ford Gran Torino Tribute to Iconic TV Show Car - 1970s Pop Culture Icon

Nearly Everyone in their 40s and older remember the famous TV Show Starsky and Hutch staring Paul Michael Glaser (Starsky) and David Soul (Hutch) and the iconic red Ford Gran Torino with the white stripe. This tribute car is so accurate that it was selected by the Revell model car company as the blueprint for the scale model.
Join me, Mr. Will, as I tell the history and walk around the entire car and explain the history behind it and what makes it what it is from the Ansen Sprint aluminum mags and the teardrop police light to the actual Motorola police radio inside. I'll talk about the model years that were used in the show, what engines were in those cars, and where they are now.

Etched in my memory - the Striped Tomato. Around my hometown, one of the things we talked about was "The Starsky and Hutch" turn, launching off in reverse, building speed, then spinning the front end around and shifting to drive so you continue the pursuit. This Torino and the Coyote plus 69 RT Charger from movie Dirty Mary and Crazy Larry were my all time favorite cars from movies or TV I even liked the 71 Ford Custom 500 with 429 that Burt Reynolds drove in movie White Lightning

Nice replica you are correct they only used six ford Torinos throughout the show starsky & hutch 2 1974 torinos for the pilot movie and 2 1975 torinos for the first season with the 400 v8 two barrel fully load with power windows and seats one off them actually had the rear gears replaced with better gearing for the stunts with a sticker on the dash board that said do not exceed 55 mph .season no2 thru 4 used 2 very high option ford torinos fully loaded with the 460 v8 and true factory dual exhaust as Paul.p. The stunt coordinator for the show and Paul Michael glaser ,starsky complained about the lack off performance from season ones Torinos after they got the 2 new torinos both with 6 way power vinyl bench seats Paul micheal glaser complained too the producer that they need too replace the seats in one off the torinos as David soul was sliding into him when ever he made sharp turns sow mid way through the second season they put bucket seats in Torino no. 2.Paul micheal glaser and David soul both hated the Torino as they said they thought it was ridiculous that under cover police would drive such an outlandish car Paul said every chance he got he would wreck the Torino you can see it throughout the series he would always come into a shot and slid the Torino against the curbs.both torinos still survive the bench seat Torino is someone we’re in Texas Joseph wright restored it I used that car as a model when I built my seconded season Torino replica thanks for the video one off the limited production 1976 S&H torinos can be seen in the episode season 2 starsky & hutch are guilty it has Crager ss wheels great video ✌️👍

Since Ford was the lease supplier for on-screen cars through their Studio-TV Car Loan Program, eventually it was decided by the producers that a bright red 1975 Gran Torino two-door would be the vehicle of choice for the pilot episode

1308 were made in 76 not 1000. 100 went to Canada. the DSO (ending in 0022 for U.S. cars and 8000 for Canadian cars
