I could not stop laughing!!! You're right solberglady, Starsky and Hutch forever!!! Hutch's accent at the beginning was killer and the way Starsky was running...classic! I love this show!

The characters weren't "rotten", just stereotyped. ie., At 1st glance, Lt. Uhura in Orig. Star Trek was one of the first black ladies to have an important job; however, she was really only a telephone operator. Later, in the 80's, Mr. T of The A-team was criticized as being cast as a chaffeur. Many tv shows cast 'token' blacks in the 70's (Mission impossible, Ironside, Mannix). Given the important position of Chief of Detectives, the character of Dobey was a nice boost to civil rights.
