I like the sound. Arturia is generous that way. This plugin will cost 99€ in a year.. so might as well get the licence now, even if you don't think you need it yet. Human brains are funny that way.. you'll want it once it costs something. Merry christmas to you and yours!

IDK if this Distortion matches MS20 or not really... But my MS20 style analog DIY filter with blue diodes (LEDs) overdrive did sounded differently. I think it was less harsh but screaming (if the reso was high). I like a diode based overdrive much more and also it's pretty simple! Can be done with a 9v battery basically.

I don't think the distortion is modelling an MS 20 overdrive - the filter itself should be doing that. I just thought it sounded nice alongside. I wish I had your DIY skills though! ):

There’s a couple of different ways to distort signals on the MS20, so I don’t think it’s a specific model of either, though the high and low cut suggests the ESP rather than the mixer. However the filter behaviour is very similar resonating by around 7 on the dial and distorting quite heavily when maxed. The originals are very gritty.

@@StarskyCarr Heh! )) My DIY skills are pretty basic. I'm trying to balance between DIYing, writing music and getting affordable gears to "get that sound". This whole year (and started at the end of previous) was an obsession of buying some used and useful analog synths. The situation of the strong rouble and sanctions did made some people moving toward selling their synths with good discounts. I've couldn't resist )) Now I'm surrounded and getting my way through Raspberry pi quircks to get a flexible, custom and affordable fx box for future. Once I'll make a good step further then I'll continue to write music (that is too much playing in my head already), hopefully will finish the postponed psy-tech album and then continue DIYing all that mess that sits in my closets ))) These are my procrastination cycles with layers and I hope that this will be not forever in a good way.

@@3rdStoreyChemist at least i hear the cutoff frequency changing with resonance high values. A kind of a shift. When i was prototypying MS20 clone filter I was thinking that it's just eats too much current on that levels and my ~1A PSU isn't supporting it enough. Yep, i remember that there was a tone down shifting in oscillators as well and certainly due to that reason too! I've didn't used a voltage reference source for VCO cycling so it was referred to the power source.

Not highjacking or dimishing the Arturia's free filters virtues, but if you didn't know, the Korg VST version can also be used as a insert effect too, giving you all its other parameters, plus, two additional effects after the synthesizer has done its sound processing.

The arturua plugins usually take up quite some space on your hard drive. They are remarkably bigger in the MB department than plugins by other brands. Most of the data is taken up by all the GUI picturefiles. There are a lot of them for every plugin of Arturia.
