First find a pivot point where the heel of your foot hits the floor allowing you to hit the accelerator and brake without raising your entire foot. This is tough if you have baby feet. When students lift their entire foot off the floor the acceleration is usually turbo speed and the braking is way too hard. Practice pivoting back and forth brake, gas, brake, gas. Next find the tachometer. Push down on the accelerator and try to keep the rpm's at 1200 for 10 seconds. This is hard but your brain is now retraining those muscles to be more controlled. Do this a lot. There's a few more techniques but try these.

I am short and I have really small feet. I keep my seat completely forward. I have tried pivoting my foot but my foot ends up slipping beneath the gas pedal. And I live in India where driving is the absolute worst. You never know who will end up in front of your car and we always drive in indisciplined bumper to bumper. I will admit I feel sorry for the passengers in my car. My car does get a jerk (sometimes little and sometimes kinda a lot) because of that.

I had my initial driving assessment just an hour ago and I passed it with flying colors without any practice but watching your videos. Online learning at its best. I got it off smoothly, made the U-turn, went through a round about and parked the car. The only deduction was that I was not able to release the handbrake even at the starting even though I am a heavy lifter, which was embarrassing LOL.

Hello! I know i’m very late to this video but I have a question. How slowly do I have to take my foot off the gas or break pedal? I know I have to ease my way into pressing them but does it matter how quickly I take my foot off? Also say I am driving on a highway and I’m going at speeds 60+ do I still have to keep my foot pressing on the gas or can I take it off and it still go that speed?
@katenee
@katenee Жыл бұрын
You’ll need to keep your foot on the pedal without pressing it to maintain the desired (safe) speed. If you remove your foot from the gas pedal, your vehicle will begin to decelerate.

Thanks for the video. What about emergency stop in an automatic care? I guess you just need to press the brake as hard as possible.
