You do a much, MUCH better job of explaining how everything works than what Lightburn puts out. Your videos are clear, complete and a big help. Lightburn needs to hire you to produce these educational videos.

The foremost aspect to grasp initially is understanding the laser head's position and the location of your workpiece before embarking on the design process.

A good explanation of one of Lightburn's probably most asked questions "where the hell is my laser going to burn from" I actually have a couple of Inox rulers on the edge of my bed in X and Y which I have embedded and also find that useful for reference and I use a wooden square on the bed itself held in place by a couple of Neo magnets for repetitive work. Then pop the piece of wood in or plastic and away you go time after time. Works perfectly. I dont thing since sorting this out in my head a few years back have I used Absolute Coordinates once.

Hello and thank you for this great video! At 3:50 you explain the "Absolute Coords" setting. When you say that it returns to the Home of the CNC machine do you mean to the Hardware Home "HHome" or to the Home set manually by the user through the "Position" command?
@computercreationz

on a co2 laser it returns to the machines home which usually in the upper left or right corner depending on brand.

Thankyou for your videos. You do a gtreat job of explaining this stuff so anyone can understand it. That being sai, I have a question I hope you can help me with. I have an Omtech 60w laser. Its home is in the upper right corner, so when I say purposely move it out into the work area anywhere, and hit "Home", it returns to the upper right hand corner. The green square is also exactly where the red square is which I am thinking should be the origin location. Both are located in the upper right hand corner. However if I have my laser resting say out in the work area and hit the "return to origin" button, my laser moves over to the left side and not all the way back to the rear corner but almost to the rear. The way it looks is such that My Home position and my Origin position are in the same place, however they go to two different locations. Can you tell me why this is and if there is a way I can get them to return to the same place which is home? Thankyou in advance for any information you can share on this topic. And please keep up the great videos, they are very helpful and informative and again, you are a great teacher!!!
@computercreationz
@computercreationz 2 жыл бұрын
it all depends on what start from setting your using in LightBurn. in absolute coordinates this is the way it will function. if you use user origin (my favorite) you decide where the origin is by pressing the origin button on the controller. it will stay that way until you set a new origin. very useful because you where you want to !

One question sir. Why is your design outside of the parameters of the watch band? I thought you might size it down so it would fit completely on the band?
@computercreationz

Great question, I didn’t want my gaps in the design. Also wanted it to wrap down the edge of the watch back. It looks better finished that way. Or at least the customers like it that way.thanks for watching

congrats on the new 35-100 I sure like mine it’s been a true workhorse. I don’t have a series of that process. i try to make content that I don’t see allot of elsewhere. there are several videos that have that but unfortunately they are in several different places.

You may have covered this, but is there any way to make sure that your object is in the exact center of your frame?
@computercreationz
@computercreationz 2 жыл бұрын
If it’s square draw a line from opposite corners and where they meet is center. Use user origin and select center. If it’s round look up how to determine center or a circle

I set up an engrave with "current position" (laser head was in the position I wanted it to start - upper left selected), framed it and it was in the right position. But when I "Sent" it to the controller to engrave, it moved it up and over about 4" to the right. What did I do wrong?
@computercreationz
@computercreationz 2 жыл бұрын
You must of had something else on the screen that was influencing the origin. I turn on use selected graphics radio button. It on the laser panel this way you can have many things on your desk top but lightburn only assigns the origin to what you select. That’s all I reverted use because my lightburn workspace always has more on it than what I intend to send to the laser.give it a try
@MakingLemonadeCreations
@MakingLemonadeCreations 2 жыл бұрын
@@computercreationz I double-checked that there was nothing else on the screen, it was an import of an SVG onto a new page. I will try the selected graphics option. It was weird because it framed correctly. Love your videos! Sooooo helpful!

I'm back. If I enclose the circle in a square and want to tell the controller to cut the square and engrave the circle I would need 2 line layers and one engrave, each assigned a different color, power/speed?
@computercreationz
@computercreationz 2 жыл бұрын
Yes. Your cut layer would be a line mode, and your circle would be a fill mode both layers would have different speeds and powers stack your layers in the sequence you want the laser to do the work

@@computercreationz I am drowning in weeds. I named my square Frame. Say I want to create a circle with an image inside the circle. I want to cut the circle and engrave the image inside the circle. Off Would I name the circle Cut (creating a 2nd layer) and the image Engrave (creating a 3rd layer) and assign a different color for each layer and disable the Frame layer before cutting? My car is embedded in snow so I have not been able to get to the laser to give it a try for almost a week. Off topic. My sister and I took a 2 hr class on operating the laser. The following day we get to the laser shop and we are all alone. Oh my, we went over the manual for starting the laser and it probably took us 15 minutes just to make sure we turned everything on okay. Probably did not get much accomplished that first day. The next morning we're back. Oh Oh. The laser was out of order owing to a fire. OMG, we were frantic. What could we have done incorrectly to cause a fire? My brother is at Makerspace a lot and the first thing he asked was "Did my sisters do it?" We were not the cause; someone left it unattended. Thank goodness for videos!

Just starting with my Alpha 22 watt machine. My problems with setting the "starting point" - current position - were self inflicted. I was moving the laser head by hand, when in fact, after your laser self homes after powering on, do not move the head by hand - EVER, move the head ONLY WITH THE ARROW BUTTONS in Lightburn (move) buttons. When you move the head manually by hand the machine looses it's mind and does not know where it is.
