Start of a one cylinder Sabb model C semidiesel engine with 5-9 horsepower from 1955 in an old lifeboat.

When I was only 14, I used to start my father's 3-cylinder Yanmar marine diesel by disengaging the compression, swinging the flywheel as much as I could, then letting it spin without aid whilst I threw a single lever to engage compression on only one cylinder, which usually fired up without problem. Then, you could engage the remaining two cylinders. It had a massive flywheel, similar to the one on this engine.

Its a hot bulb engine maybe 100+ years old design... This is normal and this is why i would prefer a more modern engine

I think I can see your problem, if you look carefully there was a possibility of a crack forming. It was a midway, towards the back. You need to install a new belt... ...around your waist:)

Well, first, trying to "kickstart" and engine is how my Dad nearly broke his shin when the engine backfired and he didn't get his leg out of the way fast enough. And second, yeah: if a diesel engine isn't running, it's because fuel is not getting to the cyls. Period.
