On gear, remember that the quest that unlocks the new jobs will give a coffer giving you free ilvl 525 gear. So unless 5 item levels means a lot to you, you only need Cryptlurker accessories (and you don't need the earrings if you have the Azeyma ones). As for dungeon gear- remember that every clear of a levelling dungeon gives you a gear piece you can equip on the job you ran it with. This means if you already have the complete set of NIN gear for (say) Vanaspati, then you're first clear of that dungeon as VIP will give you the VIP weapon (as it's the only part of the set you don't already have). So you don't really need to be crafting these and they'll just fall into your lap as you level.

Just want to add. I completed all the thavnir quests ready to turn in on early access. That should get your viper or picto to 81, then do your wondrous tales double turn in for 82, then complete log stuff for 83. People yrnd to go nuts doing fates in zones while waiting in ques, so it's a good idea to join the action.

Stocking up side quests is a great option! And yeah, grinding away on FATEs is almost always a great method for the first few months of an expansion release, especially while sitting around in queues. Thanks for checking out the video!
@qamarqammar76298 ай бұрын
Not that I've ever done this or anything ;) but spend down your Poetics on the new weapons or gear before turning in that Wondrous Tails which will overcap your Poetics since it gives 500, and before converting old currencies (Comedy etc) into Poetics. Judging by past expacs we should get a 515 weapon and job gear for the left side when we start the jobs at 80. So a Poetics weapon will be nice (530) but not necessary. The only thing we should be lacking at 80 are the accessories. The first leveling dungeon in Endwalker (Zot) only requires ilvel 500. The main thing is get to 81 so you can enter it so the tips mentioned here will more than do that.

Item level during the leveling process isn’t super important unless you’re a tank or healer. (For the DRK mains in the audience, item level is that blue number next to your character’s face in your Character window. It shouldn’t say 480 when you’re queuing for the level 95 dungeon)

Don't forget when you log out in Ul'dah or Gridania to get either Viper or Pictomancer, to log out in the inn and not just standing outside somewhere because you get a larger well-rested exp bonus from inns.

As far as I know there is no difference between logging out in any Sanctuary (there will be a moon icon next to your experience bar) which includes the whole city and logging out in an Inn. The Inn does not give you more, but is nice for RP :).
@sharlayanforum8 ай бұрын
@qamarqammar7629 This is correct. Anywhere that you have the moon means you're accruing rested XP, its always at the same rate. Good advice to be sure to log out in a sanctuary though! I think the advice of logging out in an Inn comes from the days when city-states like Gridania and Ul'dah were'nt counted as Sanctuaries, so the only way to get rested XP in them was from logging out in an Inn.

Bit late of an add but gear your retainers it's not as hard as it seems just grind some gathering scrips you can chill do it spearfishing while waiting in queue for Pandaemonium raids to get tokens to get i640 for combat retainers. Combat is ilvl based so kinda have to work for that recommended ilvl to have at start is 630, Gatherers only need main hand, off-hand, chest, gloves, legs and boots then they are set since they are gathering rating based. Took me about wanna say 3-4 hours to gear out 5 retainers.

@Plaste776 this preparation isn't meant to be something that everyone is required to do. I like to contribute as much as I can in content, so having the stats at the end of the leveling phase is an important part of the prep for me. If it's not on your radar and you want to just blast to 90 and not worry about gear, that's okay too! But that's why I'm doing now and not then, so I don't have to worry about it when I'm in the moment leveling.
@Rafaelsilva-ce2kp8 ай бұрын
Tbh you only need to have a lvl90 job with the msq done, some inventory space and around 500k gil. For every expansion you will find vendors with cheap previous lvl cap+1 gear that will forfeit any useless grind for tomestone gear at this point, farming anything after X.5 patches is useless in this game, except for glam or hardocre raiding ofc

If I could be that guy and offer some unsolicited critical feedback: I think you need to nail down better who the target audience of videos like this is supposed to be. What I mean is, when you include tips like "Complete the MSQ", "Save up gil", "Cap your tomestones" etc you give the impression that this is meant for beginners or casual players who aren't going to see these things as necessarily obvious, so then they'll treat the other tips in the video as things they didn't realise they needed to do either. This becomes an issue when looking at, for example, your gearing tips, because you say a couple of things are frankly a bit overboard and time-wastey for that kind of player. I can see in the comments you've said the intent is basically just a "do this if you want to, I know I'm going to" thing which is fine, but I worry some sprout is going to stumble across this and, based on the precedent set by the actual beginner-friendly advice, assume these other extremely incremental, extremely temporary gains are equally as mandatory, and then just waste a bunch of their time pre-launch getting melded gearsets and weapon crafting mats for every two levels ready when they *really* didn't need to do that. Point is, one half of the advice in this video is way too much for the beginner player who'll appreciate and be pulled aboard by the other half, while dedicated players like you and I who *would* get benefit from these little extra unnecessary things will find that first half of all beginner advice completely worthless. It's just a bit incohesive, y'know?
@samthorne58848 ай бұрын
This being said, the presentation and your speaking voice are both excellent and I hope to see more of you!

I can understand your position here, but I think it's also extremely important to understand that this video is positioned, and mentioned multiple times, not the least of which is in the title, that this is "How *I'm* preparing for dawntrail" not a guide meant to hand down gospel for how everyone is required to act. I like to do things like the incremental gains in gear because I enjoy optimizing my experiences and have nothing but time between now and the launch of Dawntrail. Thank you for the feedback, and I will try to structure the advice with a more clear deliniation between "what's required" and "what's the icing on the cake" My target for all of my videos, this one included, is all FF players. Not just new or experienced players, but anyone who might be looking for advice or tips. Some points will not be helpful for some people, I'll say things that someone with 1000 hours in the game already knows. Im fine with that. Thanks for taking the time to comment!

The bozjan earings literally state it only works on lvl 80 and below babe.
@sharlayanforum8 ай бұрын
I am once again here to remind people that haste is a thing that is good regardless of exp bonuses But in all seriousness, yes! If you're after the EXP bonus, either earring is mostly worthless either way in Bozja as effects like this only grant a bonus to certain EXP sources, neither of which are the main source of EXP in most speed leveling methods. I recommend using the Bozjan Earring *if* you're going to level the jobs from 80 to 90 in Bozja content, because the haste bonus is good no matter what, and the exp bonus granted in either case is mostly inadmissible inside of that content.
@bartomiejfitrzyk41058 ай бұрын
I don't quite understand this optimization to minimize the time to reach the max level. Especially since you'll be waiting for the raids to unlock afterwards, and then you'll die of boredom waiting for the next content. Wouldn't it be better to calmly enjoy the story and the game in general?
@sharlayanforum8 ай бұрын
I optimize like this because I choose to. I always level every job to max in every expansion, and I always take one of the new jobs through the MSQ, so I try to get one of them to the current max before the end of the early access period. Like I've said in other comments, this video isn't poised as a gospel to tell everyone what they should do and how they should do it. It's how *I'm* preparing for Dawntrail. Optimization isn't for everyone, and that's okay! I'm going to rush to get Viper to 90 so that I can take it through the new MSQ and then enjoy the rest of the time leveling other things and doing fates and other content before the raids release. I think it's also important to remember that boredom is pretty relative. A lot of people aren't playing the game right now because they've "died of boredom" because they've done everything they wanted to do in EW. I still play the game every day even though I've done most everything I want to do. It's a personal experience. Thanks for taking the time to check it out and comment!
