Back in the 4-4-2 days the second striker was basically a false 9/10 and there to create for the main striker so this whole “hold their own with the new formations” is a bs narrative you just spun. Gerrard could play every position while Kdb played in a attacking role in a pep side that controlled possession. If Kdb played in a city team that wasn’t possession based idt he would perform as well. Also the slip that everyone talks about was Gerrard at 34 playing DM at the end of his career while having 13g and 13a. Gerrard also had the longevity from 16 to 34. When Kdb was injured Gundogan carried and in the game vs Villa. City always found a way without him I.e the CL final. The only thing Kdb has is over Gerrard is pl titles but that’s a TEAM achievement not an individual achievement.

KDB played the whole szn of 22/23, but the last 3 months of that szn, he was playing w one hamstring n played every game in order for City to win the treble, so there was deffo pressure on KDB and was risking his hamstring too whilst dunking on Madrid, Liverpool, Bayern, Arsenal n more. He was the difference maker for the team.

Take Gerrard out of the Liverpool sides he played in and it's quite likely that Liverpool would have won absolutely nothing. Gerrard is the only player to have scored in the final of all of the CL, UEFA Cup (now the Europa League) FA Cup, and League Cup competitions.
