I have commented on a few of you other videos and in the morning when I check back it is not there FYI there is a special tape that shark bite requires that you wrap the connections with that are to be buried. I wish we could do what you're doing down there. A plumbing license is required for a project like this and we are not allowed to bury pex. We have to use HDPE black or blue or soft copper, and some real expensive fittings. Love the videos and the message. You are doing everything I do and it is great to see a 1 man band getting it done.

I normally don't do the plumbing jobs but trying to learn a little more and your info is very helpful. That is strange how messages dissappear. I just installed 300’ of waterline here in NY. I sure do envy the soil conditions and frost depth you are working with there. Mine was through areas of hard packed clay with rocks, gravel and a wet area that tried pulling my Muck boots off my feet….at 5’ deep. I dug mine with an 18” bucket on a 304 (I can’t dig to 5’ with a 12” bucket because of the width of the thumb).

Hi Sam, Easy digging and must not have that deep of a frost line. Our frost line is 6' here in Montana. I've installed a ton of underground. Couple of pointers for you to try and or consider on the next one. - The inside diameter of Pex is smaller than the pipe size. I wouldn't personally go less than 1 1/4" ID for water volume and I also prefer poly pipe. We use ford pack joint fittings on everything. I'd rather not dig anything up again to repair it. More expensive but 100x better IMO. - Crimped pex fittings are garbage. - Pex Type A piping is great for plumbing supply lines in the house even though it is rated to be buried. - Unroll the roll of pipe next to the ditch instead of trying to "unspool" it and drag it. I had to learn the hard way too.. :) - Utilize frost freeze hydrants that can be repaired without having to dig them up (I prefer Iowa frost freeze hydrants). - When running pipe under a road we like to put foam board insulation over it before we bury it so the frost doesn't push down to the pipe when driving over it. I enjoy your video's, keep them coming!

Also, I'm definitely not a plumber but was in the fire sprinkler industry for 20 years. Curious what the water pressure was at the house before installing the pressure reducing valve. If memory serves me right house fittings are good up to 65psi. Just wondering if you could of done away with that pressure reducing valve. Nothing worse than standing in a shower and feeling like I'm getting peed on, lol.

@@tristardiggin 18" is crazy! Hey, I promise i'm not picking. But on the bottom of the frost freeze there is a weep hole. When the valve gets shut the water weeps out of the hole. What I like to do is take a 5 gallon bucket and cut the bottom of it out. Slide it over the pipe and fill with gravel. Than back fill with dirt. Gives the water a place to go and should help from keeping the weep hole from getting plugged up with dirt. :) God Bless!

Im a plumber in cali, if you are going to do a job like this again try to buy parts online they got all the stuff, and i try not to buy stuff at lowes because sometimes they dont have everything you need, you have to plan ahead for a job like this, and we dont use those pex b because they leak, we use pex a and they also sell insulated pex online.

You need to use compression fittings instead of shark bites? I’ve never had one leak but they don’t last underground. I’ve never used them underground but people who have they come apart in a year. I know you’re using the shark bite in a box and I know compression fittings are more expensive, but they will last for years but love your videos. Keep them up. Thank you.

With electrical wire and water pipes sealed in plastic....never cut or remove the plastic....use the plastic to unspool the wire/pipe....and what you dont use stays neatly rolled up in the plastic until next use. Also...if and where possible... Use a heavy upside down t-piece pipe or something and put the spool around/over it to keep the spool in one place while you do the unspooling

I worked for a local water utility for a while. Just an FYI, it's never a good idea to use galvanized pipe nipples or connectors of any type. It will be the first piece to fail in that system. Copper or pex will both outlast anything galvanized.

Pressure reducer, nah I got over 60lbs at my house... 😂 question for you, do you have a separate hourly rate for yourself from your machine rate for jobs like that or do you just bid the job? I turn down small jobs sometimes because I usually can't justify doing a job for such a low handyman rate unless I have absolutely nothing else going on... It's weird people will pay a plumber, electrician, mechanic, etc... they don't know 100hr but they think you should do it for them for 30hr because you're not technically a plumber, etc ... but you have more equipment and overhead. In there mind they are helping you out with giving you extra small jobs, but they don't understand you can't make equipment payments when you're doing manual labor and the equipment is not being utilized...

I recently have gone up to $1500 per day. That includes machine time and labor time. I charged a little extra on this one because of the addition of the 2 water spigots which took me over the 8 hour day. I generally just take equipment jobs. But occasionally I will do one like this.

I told a friend 90hr for d3 dozer which is probably to cheap but he has another friend with a high track d5 that was willing to do some work for 100hr so you know how that goes. I told him any less and it probably wouldn't be worth my time, and he's one of those with 15 different things to do once you're there. I know another guy who runs a 750k lgp Deere for 150 hr. So I guess it just depends on the area and market you're in...

I put 1 inch pex from the meter to the house. I sleeved mine with 2 inch pvc pipe. I was afraid of rocks poking my pex. I guess it's ok if i don't do it for my garage that I'm building. 🤔

It is electric. But at the moment it is manual 😁 with the hammer attachment. I have been through two of the electric ones so far. And so far I've refused to spend $1100 bucks on a 3rd one. Sure would like to have it back on though...

The proper water service line would be HDPE to the house. PEX will work, but you wont get nearly as good of flow. and you will want to use different fittings and clamps.

@@tristardiggin They are against code where I’m at and can only be used for emergency repair-If you haven’t had any issues then thats good but i’d recommend doing a sweated fitting they make pex ones that you can sweat a pex adapter onto the copper and then do the crimp-more durable and provides more longevity

It has rock teeth on the chain so it does pretty good on loose rock and chews through softer rock pretty good...

what i do is duck tape 2 lowes pails together, bottoms touching, then toss it in the pex and a 2x4 knocked into the ground. god bless.

They do sell 500 and 1,000 ft rolls of pex tubingbut you got to order them and ship to home or store it's unfortunate but super cheap

Just a suggestion that may help you get your videos pushed out to more people. In your titles put the square footage of the jobs while using the words massive or huge, keep it plain and simple like this. Massive 5000 sq.ft house pad with dozer. Use all caps as well. That will help getting your vids to more people as it triggers the youtube algo to push that vid, otherwise your vids will be sent to basically back storage and the only people who will find your channel will be the ones looking for specific vids. Also another thing that will drive subs your way is say your going to release a vid today at 6pm in your youtube studio on every vid do a premiere with a count down timer, set the premiere to start at 5 and as the timer drops youtubes algo will pick it up and push it out. Iam just making some suggestions, if you already know this iam sorry if I wasted your time . Just trying to help.

This area is where I struggle the most! I dread it on every video. Thumbnails and especially titles, both are very important as you mentioned. I really like the sq footage wording. That sounds catchy, I'm going to try that. Also, i like the idea of the upcoming video mention and premier. So, I'm going to experiment with that too. No worries, I appreciate the tips and always looking for new ways to grow the channel...

I generally charge by a daily rate plus materials. Almost never by the entire job. I will be between $1200 and $1500 per day, depending on the work and size of equipment that I use. I do charge extra for travel, depending on how far away the job is. There are some variables to it but that is kind of my standard...
