Hello Asiya, just wanted to drop by and thank you for helping me with your videos! My results just came in and I got an overall score of 8! (Speaking - 8.5; Reading - 8.5; Listening - 8.0; Writing - 7.5) I was informed by my agent that I had to take an Academic IELTS exam only 5 days prior to the nearest exam date. I didn't fret much or anything since I had a Cambridge based educational background (O and A Levels) and even scored an A in English AS Level. Though, as with most people, there's still a bit of anxiety that comes with preparing to take a test. I was glad that I came across your videos - especially your tips on the Writing Test - because I was more accustomed to long-winded essays with several topic choices. If anyone needs a testament to how helpful this channel is well, here ya go! Good luck to all of you who'll be taking the exams and feel free to ask me about the exams! (Also saved their "Advice to Improve" comments in case anyone wants a deeper look into the aspects considered when grading)

What about reading module?
@moonboy85523 жыл бұрын
@@ranaxaim6788 Since reading and listening modules are "limited" in the sense that we have minimal expression in the two, there weren't any unique comments on my reading module. What I did to prepare for the exam was just going for it. I went through dozens of past reading modules on the internet and cross-checked my answers after that. Doing that slimmed down my mistakes from 8 on my first attempt to 2 on my last one. I'll paste their comment and advice here: Comment: "They are skilled at using their very wide vocabulary knowledge to create meaning, from sentence level to text level, on a range of general, specialised, and technical topics. They are good at following complex arguments and distinguishing between main ideas and supporting details, and at understanding attitude, opinion and implication. They are good at using appropriate reading strategies, such as skimming and scanning, and at synthesizing information and drawing inferences." Advice to Improve: "Continue to develop your awareness of how to read different types of texts differently. What features does that particular type of text typically have? How is information structured and arranged in such texts? Use your knowledge of these and approach the reading task in an appropriate way. Limit the amount of time you give yourself to read a text. As an exercise, try to find several texts on the same topic so that you can compare opinions, views, definitions and conceptualisations of ideas. Academics often make fine distinctions, so see if you can determine these. You may even try to see if you can capture those differences by writing a one sentence summary."

@@gurleenkaur-vm1zk For writing, I recommend going through all of Asiya's videos on this channel, they helped me a great ton! Expand your general knowledge and read various different articles to get used to their "vibe". Task 1 is a no-brainer to most but if you're like me and have difficulty in writing simpler, obvious essays then I highly recommend practicing it and following Asiya's guidelines. Task 2 is...unpredictable. My question was on my opinion of open offices (i.e. without separating desk barriers) where I had to weigh in the advantages and disadvantages. Obviously, I don't know much about it but that's what you have to do in Task 2 - presenting the simplest of points in rhetorical fashion in a way that makes readers believe you know what you are talking about (even if you don't). I separated my argument into 2 disadvantages and 1 advantage: 1) Removing barriers reduces focus as they'll be distracted by the other person's idle antics or work (I brought up school seating rearrangements as an example). 2) Removing desk barriers may increase the budget but only by a negligible amount so this would only be beneficial to start-up companies. 3) Removing barriers may promote team work however research has shown that multi-tasking is less efficient than individually working on one thing at a time (I dubbed it as a disadvantage disguised as an advantage). My personal advice and method I used to prepare for Task 2 was to binge watch Kurzgesagt videos and picture the narrator narrating my Task 2 essay as I write it. Take a look at the comments on my essays as well. They talked of some interesting sentence structures and grammar mistakes from my essays. Comments on my essays: "All parts of the task are covered. (GT) The letter has a clear purpose and a consistent, suitable tone. Test takers can support their main ideas with details and examples, although these might be too general and lack focus. The writing is well-organised and leads logically to its conclusion. They can use a variety of linking words, with some over- or under-used. In Task 2 every paragraph has one main topic. They can flexibly use a range of vocabulary and some less common words with some style, despite occasionally choosing the wrong word or making mistakes in spelling or in the form of a word. They are able to use a variety of complex sentences, and many of their sentences are correct. However they still make a few mistakes with grammar and punctuation." Advice to Improve: "Practice producing different types of writing. When writing informational and argumentative pieces, take care to develop your points thoroughly, providing as many relevant supporting ideas and details as necessary. Don't develop your points separately. Instead, ask yourself: how might I develop my idea so that it logically leads me to my next idea? Then, also ask yourself: does my use of paragraphing help to highlight the flow of my ideas? Have I also used other means besides paragraphing to do this? Use a good variety of structures, choosing appropriate ones to help the overall effect of your writing. Also try to use a wide range of vocabulary when you write, always using the best possible word. For words and phrases that are newer to you, look them up online to see how other writers use them and what other words they often appear together with. Finally, check your writing, paying special attention to those words and grammar structures you're not as confident about."

When we look into the reasons why students prefer law or business to science,we see the students who choose these two fields are generally considered conscientous, passionned and money oriented rather than the students who have a tendency to science, however the students who incline to science may be regarded as meticulous, patient and stable. Having said that, we reach those results which have been based on observations though there has yet to conduct research concerning these kinds of choices, which should have done up to now. What do you think about my writing? Thanks in advance.
