Toanui Raoulx on the Rotax engines with mags we use toggle switches, the iS version is faded controlled so it uses lanes instead. These are also toggle switches.

How would you go about starting the aircraft if the button were to malfunction for some reason? It seems like there are wires that check if certain systems are on/off, etc. Do those wires inhibit the switch from operating even if the key is detected? Seems like there are a lot of points of failure on this design.

I’ve seen many start switches in certified aircraft go bad. What if a mag wire breaks? Yes there are safety checks for the system. Without knowing the design it’s not really fair to judge the quality.

Is it like a hotel key card that might need resetting if held next to a phone or magnetic device?

We haven't seen that issue however we now have a new bypass that take a pin code. This way you don't need anything on you at all.

It will work with virtually any engine that uses a start contractor. It does however need to be experimental.

The system seems fine but you guys are really gouging the crap out of people on price. I can replicate this system for $50. It's just a Chinese ble tag available on Amazon for $15 and a microcontroller that reads it. There's no innovation here it's just charging a crap ton for 15 year old tech that can be made from parts in stock microcenter.

Thanks for watching, yes this was our first attempt and is quite archaic. We are now on version 3 which also includes voice and data recording and can be controlled from any device or with an iOS app. We will soon be adapting this system to other products currently in development. So you are not wrong, the very first system was quite simple but was also far cheaper in price, we all have start somewhere.

You guys have this thing listed at $850. Esp32 is $5 custom PCB is $3 latching relay/passive components $3-4, button $1, RFID module $5, RFID key $.10, ble key $10. Wire $10 cases maybe another $7. So that's around $50 so let's $75 gets you a shippable product. Development cost is basically nothing since this is just grabbing stuff off the shelf and assembling it. Maybe $800 The college kid you hire can design the PCB and write 50 lines of python. I guess I'm just not getting it.

Actually, if you were to somehow accomplish the act of dropping the keys out the window and your engine somehow sputters and stops all at the same time, and the propeller stopped windmilling, the system would still allow the engine to turn over. The start signal will stay active as long as the master is on., and times out 15 minutes after the master turns off. We thought of that exact scenario when designing the system..
