This was a great talk! The ISP "Tiers" is something I imagined would exist but couldn't really manage to find an explanation of the topic i could understand as well as this in the brief searching i've done. Most of what's out there in videos is what I now know as "Tier 3", especially about WISPs which seem like the most common usecase that's being shared here on KZbin. The overview of Tier 2 ISPs was incredible, really well explained in a relatively short amount of time. And the Tier 1 part was certainly intriguing lmao now I'm very curious about the inner workings and history about this cartel-like tier as well A part two with details , succesful and failed attempts , numbers, and names would be epic. Something like which Tier 2s and Tier 1s are the main players in each region and how "the Internet" arises out of those exchange points and that peering, how many companies there are, if they die quickly, etc LOL. Not sure if the opportunity to do it in talk form will arise for you in the future but if you can make an explanatory video in a similar format to this one it would be awesome. I'm looking at examples in my country (Spain) and I've found a company called "Adamo" outside of the big multinational Telecom players and it sounds like a success story of your Tier 2 example, I am about 50% sure there are other examples closer to you geographically (although its founder is Swedish). I think it's all relatively accessible information for someone with the knowledge, and I've done an overview and a quick lookup of some of the names you've mentioned in the talk and found interesting threads to pull from, but I don't really feel confident on myself being able to parse the data correctly and, especially to share it in such a clear and distilled manner.
