Thanks so much, Homay and Spitfire. Homay, I always find your demos inspiring. You are a wonderful composer, and have such a pleasant and articulate way of explaining everything you do in such a creative way. And I now have all these libraries (as well as BBC Discover and all the LABS). All are excellent!

I have BBC Discovery. Does it make sense to purchase the Originals set, or would I be getting duplicates?
@TresSeaver3 жыл бұрын
Late to the party, but AFAIK these don't overlap at all with BBCSO: the woodwinds, brass, and strings are "ensemble" patches (full "choirs" playing), rather than individual sections, while the percussion is more focused on sounds used in cinematic settings. As a songwriter, rather than a composer orchestrator, I find the Originals instruments much easier to work with.

Does anybody know what kind of fader I need to make basic expressions like she does here? Is it a midi fader or just a fader need some help guidance I’m just starting to get my gear together for my apartment studio.
@Seafox00114 жыл бұрын
Its a Midi controller (digital control signals) not an audio fader (analogue) that is being used. If you are using the latest version of Logic Pro X they have a qualified set of midi controller brands that work with it. Be aware that the Korg nanoKontrol2 that is being used in this video does work - but there's currently a software bug in Logic that corrupts the 'save settings' when you save or exit your Logic session - which stops the nanoKontrol2 from connecting to Logic next time you reload the programme. That said, the nanoKontrol 2 seems to work fine with Ableton Live using the Mackie Control set. (This is all using a Mac - a Windows PC will be a little different).
@mariobertrand63054 жыл бұрын
Seafox0011 ok thats a bit clearer. I use logic pro. what brands are qualified? I would like to add it to my list of purchases. Also while we are at it, I want to buy an Arturia essential 88 midi keybord and that has small faders, can i use those instead since im just starting out? or should I also purchase a brand approved midi fader controller? much appreciated for your answer!

I’ve often been dismayed by the term, “composing”, as it relates to orchestral music. Technically, I’ve been composing for decades, just not in the classical genre. As a guitarist, vocalist, and composer of hard rock and heavy metal, i would imagine, if guys like Holst were living in our time, he’d be in a metal band.

I don't think Gustav Holst were he still alive would think much of your comment. No, he would more likely be composing in a more modern classical style, perhaps not far removed from that of John Williams. He certainly wouldn't be part of a heavy metal band.
