you have to be dbl staffed in daytime sleeping hours 1 staff you make good money when u open more than 1 its a numbers game more you open better your income workers comp & Liability insurance will be around 600 month

The process is long. You would be better served to have a clinical person along for the ride. These homes require a mental helath component. You are badically running a mini-mental health clinic. . You have the supervision and care side (dcfs) and then the mental health component (dmh/dbh). Each of these require their own contract. As somebody mentioned above there are many steps for each contract. There are also many steps to establishing your mental health program within your strtp, which requires its own written program. My experience (licensed clincian 15+ yrs, working, running, developing writing group homes/strtp) so i know what im talking about.

He missed VALUABLE steps and info. I just went through the process. Step 1. Start non profit- that's the ONLY way it can be run Step 2. Go to orientation for certificate Step 3. Type your program statement and plan of operation Step 4. Register as a vendor Need mental health plan Step 5. Need to become accredited which is a minimum of 15k State application is $908 Whole process takes 1-2 years Also...you'll be required to have 3 months operating funds which is minimum of 200k

So when you say get experience, do you mean become a caregiver or other staff member at a licensed care home and work there for at least a year before opening your own? Does being an in home respite care provider at a clients private home count as experience?
