Neill I support you and love you. I see people are turning on you. I see why. I don’t agree with your ideas on gender but I will not allow that opinion you hold that’s different from mine to interfere with my love for you and you work and all you’ve brought me and my late younger brother over the years. I’ve wanted to write you a letter for some time now. I don’t know if you even get your mail or open fan mail. But I’m sad that this is the first thing I have to address. It’s not your fault it’s the cancel culture we have now. I hope this hate for you fades. And I’m surprised and genuinely hurt to see people do this to you. They are will fully misquote you. However I can’t agree with some of the things you’d said in gender in sports. But like I said above that shouldn’t get in the way if all the great things you’ve done and all you’ve brought me in my life. Best of luck from Ireland, ya know it’s good luck because it’s from Ireland. Although I’m a Murphy so my bread always lands butter side down.

@@Puzzlesocks To be honest, I haven’t been following Neil deGrasse Tyson and Bill Nye as closely lately, so I can’t fully speak to the specific examples you’re referencing. But I still think it’s important to recognize that even if they venture outside their specialties and sometimes appear overly confident, their approach still tends to be rooted in evidence and reason, which is more than can be said for most figures in public discourse -particularly those grounded in religious dogma or rigid ideological frameworks. At least they attempt to base their arguments on observable reality, even if they’re not perfect. That’s what I find refreshing. The alternative often involves far more assumptions and less accountability to factual findings. I also try to avoid falling into shallow, superfluous discourse on important topics which is something we see far too often on platforms like Joe Rogan’s podcast. He frequently gives a massive platform to pseudo-intellectuals who push narratives that suit their personal agendas, often without challenge or accountability, to an audience of millions. At least figures like Tyson and Nye encourage a baseline respect for the scientific process, even if they occasionally misstep. The alternative, where misinformation and unchecked opinions dominate critical conversations, is far more harmful.

The question "Once life begins, can it ever truly stop?" opens a fascinating dialogue between biogenesis and quantum science. Biogenesis explores the origin of life from non-living matter, governed by chemical and biological processes. Once life begins, its perpetuation relies on self-replication and adaptation traits deeply embedded in molecular structures like DNA and RNA. Quantum science adds another layer to this inquiry. At the quantum level, particles exhibit behaviors such as superposition and entanglement, suggesting that the building blocks of life are governed by principles far beyond classical physics. Life, in this sense, could be seen as an emergent property of quantum systems, where even at "death," the energy and components of life do not vanish but transform and redistribute into the environment. This interplay raises profound questions: Could the quantum information embedded in life's processes persist in some form? Could life re-emerge under the right conditions, guided by the same principles of quantum mechanics that sparked its origin? The intersection of these fields might one day offer answers, reshaping our understanding of life, death, and continuity.
@stoneysdead6892 күн бұрын
"Could the quantum information embedded in life's processes persist in some form?" It's not just that it "could" it literally has no choice, conservation of information demands it persists in some form, forever. There's nothing new or controversial about that, this is a settled, accepted fact of physics- information is always conserved. Now capturing that information and reconstituting it into something sensible is far, far beyond our technical capabilities- but theoretically, it should be possible.

Can you both meet my 7 year old son? You will be the Carl Sagan equivalent to inspiring him. Thank you both for sharing your love of knowledge. It’s contagious and you make my job easier as a mom when my children want to learn. Thank you. My son is a member of the society! He looks forward to every envelope

I’m glad to see bill nye and Neil having conversations, I watched a video a while ago and it seemed yall didn’t like each other. Glad to see yall together!

Great episode, I have such respect for and enjoy both of these charismatic men so much. Both have contributed an incredible amount to science/ humanity. Both are so interesting/ entertaining and I have learned a lot from them over the years. Most importantly, they inspire and create interest in space and physics for non scientists like myself. They have created such an interest and curiosity, and for that, I am grateful. People like this encourage personal growth for the masses, it's truly profound. Notice Niel has 4 million followers, that's awesome! It makes me glad that so many other people appreciate/ enjoy the channel as much as I do.

As a kid who grew up with Bill Nye its depressing to see a time now where scientists are ignored and things that should be a joint effort being made political.

if you don't think there's life in the universe already something is wrong with you. the scientist of my childhood and the scientist of my adult life. I love it so much

There's nothing wrong with someone if they don't believe it. There's just no evidence so far. It's a reasonable hypothesis. But, no evidence to support it right now.

@@Rqs79I know we need evidence but if you go into chances and probability (and with billions and billions of galaxies), then there's definitely life out there. 100% with so many Earth-like planets discovered.
@katieheys30072 күн бұрын
The probability for it is so high, it's embarrasing for folks to think it's impossible. I think some people just imagine when we say life, we mean a wide variety of life that we see on Earth. All we need is evidence that even microbial life existed at some time on another planet to know for a fact that life has existed out there somewhere. All it takes is ONE piece of evidence, in a sea of billions of planets.
@Rqs792 күн бұрын
@@tomaccino , I believe the probability is definitely higher than zero given the vastness of the universe and the presence of amino acids important to the formation of life found in meteorites floating in space. I just don't how high over zero the probability. If life is found in one of the oceanic moons on say, Europa, or past evidence of life found on Mars, that would be the greatest discovery ever.
