Nice, that StarTech box was one I was looking at before I decided on the ClonerBox. It's great that you can put them to work together. And, seeing the Amiga setup from the '90s was great (complete with KX-P1124 printer, right?) but I think you topped it with the surprise Shuttle appearance! :)

I still have the KX-P1124. I should dust it off and see if it still works.

I prefer 4:3 ratio flat panel LCD televisions from around the 2000-2005 time frame. They usually have composite, S-Video, VGA and an NTSC/ATSC tuner. They cover a lot of machines in a single display. A plus is that they are usually cheap since no one wants the "square" TV's at the thrift stores. You can also occasionally find some similar vintage Dell LCD monitors with Composite, S-video and VGA.

Nice and informative, Chuck! Thanks! I use a Retrotink 2, but you are right about the HDMI outputs and losing a lot of control over the image. When I hook my Retrotink to some of my TV's I lose the ability to do much with the brightness and contrast. The darn TV just takes over and starts adjusting things based on the signal it detects - and that is bad when you are in the middle of some games and the screen suddenly gets 40% darker!

Have you noticed input delay between the converters?

I haven't tested. There may be some but nothing I've noticed.

The big question would be whether it introduces any lag.

Thanks for the info. I've decided to buy StarTech's VID2VGATV3 unit. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of your unit, but it's probably using the same tech inside. Thanks again for your review.

I use this with a C128 A/V Breakout Adapter from commodore4ever. Works perfectly. 80-column with the RGBI output was a pain. I had to use a BIT-C-128 video DAC and wire it into a Gonbes converter card with a VGA output to get 80 columns from the 128. A lot of work, but decent output.
