Jim, you are the niche. I think what separates you from many others is the lack of hype and lack of desperation. Once it becomes a "career" content creators can become boring. I enjoy listening to your voice (very pleasant), your clear enunciation and cadence. Love that Midwestern attitude and accent. Thanks for your thoughtful content, insights and continue to grow this niche community who support your endeavors and are curious about you.

People watch your content because of you. We both blew up recently ha. In one week I went from 85 subscribers to 11k. You never know what could happen. Wish you the best on your channel!

Your first youtube video was so powerful, yes, like a ME TOO movement. It was like a manifesto or a confession in front of the universe, in front of the world. You were so authentic, so unbearably sincere. You touched the heart of so many of us who identified with you being in the same situation - single, not married, no kids. No matter men or women, we share the same destiny, like a burden. That first video was full of grace, unrepeatable. Thank you from Romania.

I do love your humble and honest channel. I do wonder what advertisers would contribute advertising to a channel like this since it isn't niche specific. I'm a KZbin premium watcher but I've saw that you still get some revenue even for premium watchers. I don't see your ads so if other viewers can share what ads they see that would be interesting. I hear that finance channels are some of the highest paid because it attracts big money marketing dollars. I get that it's not about the money but an added bonus. I've unsubscribed from a quite a few channels that posted daily regurgitated content and it lost the appeal of watching them. Keep up the good work!

Jim- Another video idea. How did your friends and family react when they saw you be so open and honest on KZbin. I know I'd never hear the end of it if I was as honest as you about my opinions or experiences. What I admire about you is your willingness to say what you think and the heck with what anybody thinks (save for the tattoo video :-) ) One other video idea: are you corresponding with any of the women from the KZbin comments? Or are you holding fast to your desire to live abroad (and find "a broad" abroad haha). Congrats on your monetization!

In 1997 I inherited some money and I used some of it to buy a Camcorder. They were smaller than the old VHS sized video tape recorders. They still recorded on tape, but they were in cartridges, the size of cassette tapes. The Cam-corder was state of the art. It had a built-in editing feature, special effects, super zoom and motion "stabilization" to reduce hand shaking. Built-in stereo mic. and input ports for tons of other miniature enhancements. I added a zoom mic., & a tiny monitor screen. I also took evening classes at an Art Institute, in basic cinematography. I was about 45 years old, the other students were much younger. I'd already gone to college in the Arts, years before, and earned 2 college degrees. I took the cinema class for fun and instruction. The class was very thorough, we learned to edit, and about filming techniques. We had group projects. Every student had their own equipment, all different brands of the latest Cam-corders. We made videos and acted in each other's videos. After the class ended, I began filming a project of my own interest, kind of documentary, about a local inventor, I was friends with. I also documented a landmark, that was slated to be torn down.
@Smuggler16912 күн бұрын
I remember those camcorders. I would probably find that class interesting.
@Davett5311 күн бұрын
@@Smuggler169 It was a thorough class. We had hands-on access to the latest professional editing suite. There were helpers for our projects. We had fun, filmed some crazy videos. We probably did some things, that are now illegal. Trespassed. We'd go to a large department store, and film inside of it, and not ask permission. Use it as our back-drop scenery.

I think the secret to doing well on KZbin for people like Jim is the "likeability" factor. Jim comes across as earnest and sincere. Many of us gravitate to "salt of the earth" type people as we age and become wiser. We have less patience for phonies. Another KZbinr that has done well for similar reasons is the channel "Steve Wallis". Mainly stealth camping content, but the likeability of the guy is the magic sauce. People find humility refreshing in the times we live. Rough and raw editing, and even specific content, is not a necessarily a barrier to success. Authenticity is more important in reaching an audience organically. If people like you, they will watch.

Well you may find it interesting,....that one video you filmed in a Park, and there was a Windmill in the background. You didn't talk about it, but I wanted to know where in Ohio there was a Windmill. I enjoyed researching that topic and learned there are some old style windmills, in Ohio and other states in the mid-west. Most were used to grind grains. Many were more fake than real. The one in your video is designed like a Dutch windmill, the type I find most interesting. It is not a functional one and is considered "ornamental", according to a Park management web site. There are many photos of it, on line and looking at it, it looks pretty real. The roofing material and the exterior mechanics, match the looks of the still functioning ones used in the Netherlands.
