I just want to say thank you for this video bc it was extremely educational. My bf is having some discrimination problems at his work with his natural hair and has asked me to loc his hair for him since I have cosmetology experience and bc we cant afford to go to a professional locktician atm. Unfortunately though my cosmetology experience was also very white-led and we didnt learn much about how to do hair for black people (one of the reasons I left the school I was at) and I found your video and it is going to help so much.

I'm two weeks in - I started them myself with two strand twists. Totally product free. I live in Ethiopia and I have a guava tree in the garden so I rinse them with guava water every few days. I've rinsed them in the shower every day since day one and they haven't unravelled at all. I might just let them freeform from now on. This is my second set feels so much more of an organic journey this time.

The blue tool is a seam ripper. It's traditionally used by people who sew when a seam needs to be removed. Or if threads are in a place too small for scissors, etc.

Your locks are beautiful. Please what informed your lock style and pattern when you started? How often do you relock?
@JaeCemma3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I just wanted locs that fit my head size and I don’t have any pattern at all. My parts are irregular. I retie once every 8 weeks or so.

I’ve been natural for a long time now but I just finger coiled my hair a couple nights ago however they don’t look even as full as yours which is fine, my main concern is just that it’s a little straighter due to heat damage and the ends aren’t curling up. I cut off the straight ends in hopes they’ll stay coiled as they grow back out. I’m not good at parting my hair so I just kind of free handed it as well so hoping it doesn’t look too crazy.
@JaeCemma2 жыл бұрын
Your finger coils will definitely expand over time. Fullness all depends on loc method and maintenance.

I started my loc journey 2 days ago Feb 15th. But I am having issues because of the length. Its a little shorter than i expected. I got instant locs. But I am so excited still aboit the journey. I just don't know how long its going to take lol
@JaeCemma4 жыл бұрын
Congratulations on your new journey! 🍾🎉🎈 Fortunately length comes easily with healthy locs. As long as you keep your hair and scalp healthy, the length will sneak up on you. Believe me 😂

I have cut my hair twice in the past 4 years because it won’t grow equal and my edges won’t grow so I been thinking about starting lock but my state doesn’t have any shops that do locks other than white hairs which is easier to do than black thicker hair . I need some ideas on how I can start my own locks at home

What's the oil called again and where can I get one?
@jazzylulu224 жыл бұрын
I’m two weeks in and I definitely follow these steps. My sister is almost 3 years loc’d so she’s been a huge help with my transition. I haven’t experienced the little balls at the ends but I know not to mess with them lol. I’m probably bout to get clowned but I don’t cover my hair in the shower. I let the humidity and moisture penetrate my hair while I shower and after I’m done I seal the moisture in with my own oil blend.
@JaeCemma4 жыл бұрын
I don’t cover my hair in the shower either. It’s actually one of my favorite things about being loc’d. I’ve never liked getting my sleeping cap wet but I don’t like shower caps either. 😂
@jazzylulu224 жыл бұрын
@@JaeCemma I’m glad I’m not the only one. Plus I get my length back in the shower lol. My starter locs are a little shorter than yours and when they’re dry they shrink up so the shower moisture gives my length back lol.

@@jazzylulu22 SHRINKAGE IS REAL. My hair is always longest on wash day and the day I retie.
