Retwists every 2 weeks don’t hurt but are not necessary. Retwists every 10 weeks or more cause thinning. So I’m glad you said 5-8 weeks. We recommend 4-6 weeks or whenever you have an inch of new growth. Now if you see someone with tiny locs at the root and thick locs at the ends…their locs were started with the wrong size partings. Freeform is temporary but if you freeform it’s better not to ever retwist and maintenance once a year is dangerous. 😳
@deee83242 жыл бұрын
How would the shit cause thinning the less yu do it wouldn’t the dread strengthen overtime
@loccdin2222 жыл бұрын
@@deee8324 Hair grows every day and where 2 different textures meet is a breaking point. Where new growth afro hair meets locked hair is a weak spot basically. And slowly but surely individual hairs separate from the loc. When it finally does get some attention there will be a weak spot in all of the locs. So something must be done with the new growth to make it match the locked hair. Long story short neglect does not cause locs to thicken…it causes the opposite they thin out and break off.

11 years in the game you Do not have to wrap your hair every night especially when short .if you have a satin pillow case that's all you need .I only started covering before year 6 when my hair was no more staying on the pillow. Now it tail bone definitely you can't sleep without bonnet For the lint make sure your hair is covered when you do your house chores .later start brushing with a soft boar bristle brush .before washing so you remove any before it gets embedded into the loc during wash time Lol never heard about the nails. I had nails all the time it's not that important Retwisting wait minimum 2 months to avoid over time thinning but I know some who for 15 years wash and and retwist every 2 weeks and they have no problem .not one size fits all I can spend a full week without moisturising cause my hair is moisturised and sometimes I need to do it daily . listen yo your hair 😊 just like you listen to the rest of your body. Best advice is learn how to do everything yourself as not even the loctitian will know your hair better than you do . Trust the process but also trust yourself

@tashajohnson42262 жыл бұрын
I like you you’re funny. 🤣🤣. The lint mob that’s coming for me had me in tears laughing. That one quote made me subscribe. I need some laughter in my life lol🤣🤣. Your tips were awesome to listen too. I am almost a year into my journey come June 2022. Boy has it been a journey. At times I wanted to scream because the two strand twist kept unraveling and the frizz is real. I’m a year in and the actual loc is loc’ed but I’m learning the roots will never loc that’s the purpose of the retwist 🙄duh. I was retwisting every week. After hearing so many videos I am at two to three weeks now. The great thing for me is because of spiritual reasons I keep my hair covered in public. If it had not been for that bye bye loc’s. The initial stage and look I would have been quit. I do little styles that help preserve my retwist. I have and continue to do my own hair and I learned everything I know listening to people like you. Lol I was subscribed to everybody initially now almost a year in I’m at like 3 or 4 locsters I am subscribed too you now my 4th😀👍🏽. I have learned to like that unkept look when my loc’s are doing their own thing at the roots, not twisted, the nappy look. I find if I style my locs then it keeps me from retwisting every week or two. I don’t want no thin loc’s 😡. My locs have grown in my journey 😃slowly but I can see the growth. I keep my hair covered for bed ALWAYS never missed a day to ward off the lit mob🤣🤣. If I don’t moisturize daily my locs dry out so I do that daily and I oil my locs with hair growth oil twice a week. I found I just have to learn my hair doing my journey and it will tell me what it needs. I love my locs and I will never comb them out. What’s the purpose of going through the journey to one day comb them out, that’s just silly to me and a waste of time. This is how my hair will be until Jesus comes for me 😳. I look forward to more videos from you because you keep me laughing. How do you deal with the frizz?? Oh and a life saver for me to get my hair to loc and avoid all the constant two strands coming aloose I used a loc tool after 6 months of wanting to pull my hair out and after that first twist with the tool I never had to retwist the loc again. It’s just the roots that come aloose so quickly that drives me nuts. How do you keep your roots twisted for so long to be able to only retwist every 5 to 6 weeks??

The most important are hydrating and not over twisting. Wrapping is important, but not every night. I can't wrap for more than 2 weeks at a time, because my scalp gets dry and itchy from the wrap pulling moisture from my hair. And that pressure on the scalp is annoying. A bonnet is definitely a good thing, because it covers the hair without putting pressure on the scalp, tension on the roots, and irritation on the scalp.

Water and rose water helps with moisture, and you use oil to seal. Water actually helps the locking process. Does a bonnet count for wrapping your hair up ?? How should you wrap your locs ? I usually moisturize my locs and then put a bonnet on

Bonnet definitely counts!

I have very loose curly hair n i went the coil route and my scalp has such a bad dandruff problem even when i oil my scalp it just irritates it but when I don’t do anything it gets dry and flaky but even I wash my hair it’s like I’m starting my love journey over. Show I restart and go for two stand twist method

Cut your nails!! If you don’t say that louder for the people in the back pew! 😂 ESPECIALLY if you do your own retwists - I recently had to pause one, not because of my nails, but because of wintry 😖 hangnails. Kept snagging my dang roots, y’all! ✂️✂️✂️

i started off with 2 strand twist locs april 15 2022 and they told me to come back every 3 weeks 3 times. how do you feel about that?

Since ur still in the beginning stage you will need to come back more often but once a couple of months go by I say (4-5) you can go longer without having to come back as often. Just speaking from my experience. Usually during the early stage ur locs are the most fragile and can unravel/form weirdly
