i laughed out loud at the lint mob. that feels so real! also, i had locs for 6 years and never moisturized or used conditioner. ever. when i combed them out, i retained very little because my hair was sooo dry and brittle. like you said, if you plan to have locs forever, it's probably fine, otherwise you need to take care of them! low maintenance not not maintenance.

11 years in the game you Do not have to wrap your hair every night especially when short .if you have a satin pillow case that's all you need .I only started covering before year 6 when my hair was no more staying on the pillow. Now it tail bone definitely you can't sleep without bonnet For the lint make sure your hair is covered when you do your house chores .later start brushing with a soft boar bristle brush .before washing so you remove any before it gets embedded into the loc during wash time Lol never heard about the nails. I had nails all the time it's not that important Retwisting wait minimum 2 months to avoid over time thinning but I know some who for 15 years wash and and retwist every 2 weeks and they have no problem .not one size fits all I can spend a full week without moisturising cause my hair is moisturised and sometimes I need to do it daily . listen yo your hair 😊 just like you listen to the rest of your body. Best advice is learn how to do everything yourself as not even the loctitian will know your hair better than you do . Trust the process but also trust yourself

The most important are hydrating and not over twisting. Wrapping is important, but not every night. I can't wrap for more than 2 weeks at a time, because my scalp gets dry and itchy from the wrap pulling moisture from my hair. And that pressure on the scalp is annoying. A bonnet is definitely a good thing, because it covers the hair without putting pressure on the scalp, tension on the roots, and irritation on the scalp.

Retwists every 2 weeks don’t hurt but are not necessary. Retwists every 10 weeks or more cause thinning. So I’m glad you said 5-8 weeks. We recommend 4-6 weeks or whenever you have an inch of new growth. Now if you see someone with tiny locs at the root and thick locs at the ends…their locs were started with the wrong size partings. Freeform is temporary but if you freeform it’s better not to ever retwist and maintenance once a year is dangerous. 😳

How would the shit cause thinning the less yu do it wouldn’t the dread strengthen overtime
@loccdin222
@loccdin222 2 жыл бұрын
@@deee8324 Hair grows every day and where 2 different textures meet is a breaking point. Where new growth afro hair meets locked hair is a weak spot basically. And slowly but surely individual hairs separate from the loc. When it finally does get some attention there will be a weak spot in all of the locs. So something must be done with the new growth to make it match the locked hair. Long story short neglect does not cause locs to thicken…it causes the opposite they thin out and break off.

I like you you’re funny. 🤣🤣. The lint mob that’s coming for me had me in tears laughing. That one quote made me subscribe. I need some laughter in my life lol🤣🤣. Your tips were awesome to listen too. I am almost a year into my journey come June 2022. Boy has it been a journey. At times I wanted to scream because the two strand twist kept unraveling and the frizz is real. I’m a year in and the actual loc is loc’ed but I’m learning the roots will never loc that’s the purpose of the retwist 🙄duh. I was retwisting every week. After hearing so many videos I am at two to three weeks now. The great thing for me is because of spiritual reasons I keep my hair covered in public. If it had not been for that bye bye loc’s. The initial stage and look I would have been quit. I do little styles that help preserve my retwist. I have and continue to do my own hair and I learned everything I know listening to people like you. Lol I was subscribed to everybody initially now almost a year in I’m at like 3 or 4 locsters I am subscribed too you now my 4th😀👍🏽. I have learned to like that unkept look when my loc’s are doing their own thing at the roots, not twisted, the nappy look. I find if I style my locs then it keeps me from retwisting every week or two. I don’t want no thin loc’s 😡. My locs have grown in my journey 😃slowly but I can see the growth. I keep my hair covered for bed ALWAYS never missed a day to ward off the lit mob🤣🤣. If I don’t moisturize daily my locs dry out so I do that daily and I oil my locs with hair growth oil twice a week. I found I just have to learn my hair doing my journey and it will tell me what it needs. I love my locs and I will never comb them out. What’s the purpose of going through the journey to one day comb them out, that’s just silly to me and a waste of time. This is how my hair will be until Jesus comes for me 😳. I look forward to more videos from you because you keep me laughing. How do you deal with the frizz?? Oh and a life saver for me to get my hair to loc and avoid all the constant two strands coming aloose I used a loc tool after 6 months of wanting to pull my hair out and after that first twist with the tool I never had to retwist the loc again. It’s just the roots that come aloose so quickly that drives me nuts. How do you keep your roots twisted for so long to be able to only retwist every 5 to 6 weeks??

Not the entire twist because I've braided my roots, although 2 on my nape are just loose right now and I can't stand it😩. Should i keep keep twisting them (without combing) or leave them alone? Hii!! Thank you so much!🤗♥️ Regarding your question, if yours are only a week in, I would go ahead just twist the ends back up. Within my first like 3 weeks, some of my twist would get loose at the end and I would just twist it back up. After like a month if anything was still loose or loose hairs I personally kind of left them alone and just waited until I gave myself a retwist. I hope that helps!

did 2 strands myself finished Jan 1. I'm 16 and i struggle with a lot. this was my third recent attempt. I only use water and an oil mix for moisture and leave my hair alone. i try to wrap my hair up in a scarf. so far day 12 most my hair has shrunk incredibly. as someone with soft 3c4a hair im surprised. im not looking forward to a retwist because most my hair has come undone or grown out but I promised myself I would stick with it. im also planning to attend uni in a couple months.

I love your presentation you are really full of joy. I appreciate all knowledge I am 6 months in and I am in a different state from my Loctition. I am so grateful to know I have been doing everything right w/ the exception of the always moisturize. I am experiencing such a free feeling w/ my natural hair. God Bless your health as well .🙏🏿🖐🏾☺️

Why doesn’t the wrap absorb the oils the same as the pillow?

My aunts Loc’s comes pass her but, they are full and healthy the the crazy part is she never wraps her hair at night she doesn’t oil or moisturize, she only washes if she gets a retwist which is about every three months, she does NOTHING to her hair

I have really enjoyed your videos so far. New subby! I just started my locs a little over a month ago. Scheduled for my first retwist at the beginning of February (almost to the 8 week mark) and I'm so excited. I am hoping I can safely have my locs retightened no less than every 8 weeks, but I have to wait and see what they need. I started out feeling some kind of way about my starter locs, but I am embracing them, me and this journey. Thank you for sharing your journey with our community! 😊

Do two strand twist pull your hairline back? You know how some guys have dreads start in middle of head an haircut in front part of they head
@ImsimplyLC

I’m CRYING 🤣 I know exactly what you’re referring to. But I don’t think that is necessarily from two strand twist. I personally think it’s from retwisting too often, combined with ur retwist being pulled back in a style too tightly, combined with genetics.

Tapered hairline or front taper you are referring to as the cut.

It happens when guys go get a haircut BEFORE they have there new growth retwisted into their locs. The barber cuts the new growth when doing an edge up causing the hair line to slowly reseed.

Hey hey I'm new here. So happy i found your channel. We have a similar hair texture and both started with 2 strand twist. I'm 1 year and 3 months in and I'm loving it. I did notice that with my texture the length of the 2 strand twist sections are taking longer to loc in comparison to persons with looser texture. Your hair is a perfect rep of what's going on with mines.

Recently I acquired a bad habit. Plucking lint fuzz with a sewing needle out of my locks. It's weird and I know I am tearing them but I can't seem to stop doing it.

I love your energy and advice. My loctician tried to convince me to come every two weeks for three months! I am approaching my 3rd month on the 4th of March. She told me not to mist my hair with water because it will cause my coils to frizz! At what stage did you start moisturizing your hair with conditioner? She told me to moisturize with oil! My hair texture is similar to yours so you confirm that it takes time but the my coils with thicken in time! Thanks for the advice.

Oil doesn’t moisturize its a sealant. Putting oil on dry hair only makes it feel better that’s it.

Water and rose water helps with moisture, and you use oil to seal. Water actually helps the locking process. Some don’t use oil at all because it’s a sealant and once applied your follicles are sealed so putting water on top of if is pointless. I’d say try it and see how your hair responds :) hope this helps

@@sydddd3781 thank you. I guess this why my hair is not expanding like others because all I used at first was oil. I started using water and/or rose water to see if this would help. I don’t know how my buds can travel with my coils being so tight! I have found another loctician to guide me thru my journey.

@@valeriecheriece8311 yes!!!! I’m 3 months locd and started with shoulder length type 4 hair. I also started with the coil method and all of my locs have a significant amount of budding. Give it time and keep them moisturized :)
