Thank you for giving me the idea that my problem for my boat motor not cranking fast was because of my old battery cables I decided to go a little bit janky and use old jumper cables and it now cranks faster I only did this because the hot wire that was on it was a extension cable

Hello. Very useful advice. I'm having a similar problem so what I did was go direct. Although I didn't run a screw driver over the solenoid, I put jumper cables directly to positive and negative with the same outcome. This is after using a very good battery. Should I go by pass using a screw driver across the solenoid to see if there's any difference? If so, what do I check for next?

maybe this is my problem ... i have a 3 cyl diesel ford tractor 4000 series ,, one day it decided im done not gonna start for you anymore you old B-----d so it didnt ,,bought new starter which isnt cheap ,,,new battery which isnt cheap and it cranks so slow it does not start ,,, so maybe my cables are bad ,,, tomorrow i will buy new cables and let you know if thats my problem ,,, i pray it is been working on it for a week ..
