Favourite snack that’s quick and protein packed Medjual dates chopped mixed unsalted nuts chopped Organic dark chocolate chips chopped Peppermint candy cane chopped (Bulk Barn) Optional flavouring can be added Food processor dates, nuts, chocolate chips Roll into small balls To prevent them from sticking together, I put icing sugar in a bag and toss them in it … refrigerate or freeze and enjoy! I loved seeing outside. We don't ever see snow here. Just frost in Winter and lots of cold and sunny days. Many birds stay all year here. Birds in the garden is one thing I love to see and will miss when one day we downsize. Enjoyable video Erin. Pretty scarf. I have always loved my scarfs to dress up Winter clothes and make everything a little more cheerful in Winter. They can also be used in hair or to protect table tops. Long ones can tie back curtains. So many uses.

A favorite from the past was apple crisp. when my son was a toddler, he'd eat the tiniest amount of an apple. So I'd save all the apples and cut them up to make tiny little apple crisps, toss the apple bits with appropriate amounts of flour, ours were small, so about 1T, then mix some quick cook oatmeal and a bit of brown sugar and but for the top. It's baked so... When we were over apple crisps, I would cut all the apples up and put them in a container in the freezer, and when I had enough I would toss them all in the dutch oven with a bit of water and cook it all down to applesauce, throw in some pumpkin pie spice (it's a mixture of all my favorite autumn spices, I use it all the time in replacement of anything that has cinnamon on the ingredient list). No sweetener needed. delish.

Hello! I started watching you during Vlogmas and I'm hooked 😊. I mostly watch on TV, so I don't comment, but I just had to chime in! My mom has a few autoimmune issues including rheumatoid arthritis. I haven't been diagnosed with anything yet, but I do get horrible joint pain in my wrists and hands from gluten/wheat and sugar. I use maple syrup and local honey instead of granulated white sugar. I make my own bread using heritage wheat products from a small company in the US. One of my favorite snacks is a bowl of plain greek yogurt with some berries and chopped nuts, and a drizzle of honey. I'm also fortunate enough to be partnered with a company that has excellent nutritional products. Seeing you mix up your electrolytes reminded me to order my own! 🛒 Happy New Year 🎉

@the.ellemars definitely! Going gluten free and limiting my sugar intake makes a huge difference in how my joints feel. Carb cycling helps me a lot too. I'm still learning about all the foods that are naturally anti-inflammatory!

My favorite is plain or vanilla greek yogurt mixed with a tablespoon or so of sugar free pudding - white chocolate is really good! Then, you can top with a spoon of mini chocolate chips, or blueberries and a spoon of grapenuts for crunch & fiber :)

I have a couple of tips to share! First, I don’t know how strictly you’re taking the anti inflammatory diet,but I wanted to point out that coffee creamer and these kinds of store bought breads (bagels,tortillas) can be really bad. Check the ingredients on the specific ones you get, I’m sure you know what to look out for. Btw tortillas are very easy to make,in case you’ve never tried. Second tip, to stretch out the groceries. When you meal plan, leave at least one day empty. That’s leftovers day,but also and more importantly, use up the pantry and the freezer stash day! That’s my go to, I never realize i have weeks worth of food at home until I actually have nothing fresh left. Good luck! 🛒

Oh yes! I’m fully aware that this isn’t 100% anti inflammatory…we are trying to focus on better not perfect and the breads are mostly for the kids lunches etc. I have tried making tortillas, but I feel like I need a press because I just couldn’t make them right. One thing we really need to work on is using up leftovers (a lot does get used up in next day lunches) and working our way through our well stocked pantry. I admit the kids make this much harder because they are so stubborn 🫠. I really appreciate you kindly taking the time to gently let me know these things.

@@the.ellemars kids, and food... It can be a nightmare I agree! I love leftovers, I have no tip there except, put an egg on it 😅 make everything new and delicious. One more thing on the anti inflammatory thing. I find with clients that listing what you can't have is demotivating, VS focusing on what you should have. So, if you don't do it already, focus on increasing the amount of fresh veggies and fruits and legumes that you consume and don't worry too much about the not so great stuff you still have around it (it will necessarily be greatly decreased) Again, good luck, sending supportive wishes! It's a tough but amazing challenge you're taking

Hi Erin. Remember me saying that our grocery bill was between £150 & £200? Well, apparently, accordingly to the averages on my bank app, our grocery bill averages at £499 pm...I was a little out! Maybe I should've said weekly?? 🤔😄 Watching today's vlog made me want eggs...I think I'm going to have eggs & spinach for my lunch today (it's currently just after 11am in England). Those blueberries were a fabulous price, they're currently cheaper than I paid the other day in England, I'm always curious to see how much other countries grocery items cost. I too would like to have chickens but living in a town in England, I don't think our neighbours would appreciate it. Wow, that's a crazy price for blueberries. Does the petrol cost & wear on your car to drive the extra work out worth the saving on your food bill worth it though? I don't drive but I do occasionally wonder things like that when I'm told that it's cheaper to buy something from further away. The overflowing abundance of quality goods at thrift stores in the US and Canada just shows how much is consumed and discarded. But my house is full and I need to cull things anyhow, so it is probably good that I can't thrift easily.

Sadly, this was at our very cheap grocery store an hour away. Groceries are consistently 25-30% higher at our local shops as we live in “cottage country”. It’s infuriating.

Yes! I would have shared more, but I was super hungry and just wanted to eat 😂! Next time! It’s just leeks, mushrooms, salt, pepper, thyme, 3 tbsp cream and some shredded cheese on grilled toast. So comforting and delicious!
