Welcome to my channel!
I'm starting a candle business from home in 2023! I only have 1 scent listed, but I hope to introduce more throughout the year. KZbin has been an outlet for me to share my list of creative projects with the world and I thank you for all the support 🥹 Because of this channel, I was able to start something new! I still have a lot to learn, but I'm excited to share this journey with all of you!

Hi! Yay, congrats on starting :) Where are you located? Please share your account, I’d love to follow along! I actually only started with one scent and made around 50 candles. I’m definitely not an expert at this and can’t really say I have a successful small business yet, but that’s how I started. I was super cautious, but in hindsight I probably would have launched at least 4 scents. I’m sure it helps to have friends and family try out your candles first and spread the word as well. Hi! Thank you for watching :) It’s actually hard to find competitive candle supply companies in Ontario. I wish there was a supplier that offered pick up options to help keep costs down, but I haven’t found one yet. I use Voyageur soap and candles and Village craft and candle for my supplies in Canada. Whenever I make a trip across the border, I try to order some supplies to pick up during my trips because I do find pricing more competitive. Are you starting a candle business in Canada as well?

yea, i m in canada n m thinking of starting a home-based candle business. i kno i m finding it quiet challenging finding suppliers closeby. i was thinking of crossing the border to shop or pickup but hvn't done any research on cross-border yet, perhaps if u hv advise on it u can share. r u in Toronto?

You can ship to a US address but I’m in Toronto, so the time and gas it takes to drive to pick up packages isn’t worth it for me. Also the Canadian dollar is pretty weak so after the conversion, sometimes it doesn’t make sense. I have family in the states that I visit a few times a year so that’s when I bring stuff over. Are you in Toronto as well?

How do you make your labels?

I make them on Canva and then print them on Avery gloss labels. I plan to make a video on it soon :) Thank you for watching!

I make a custom soy blend (parasoy) in 9 oz straight sided jars. I'm testing some all natural waxes at the moment to find a similar hot throw. Thank you for watching!

Hey hello such an useful info.. but may i also ask .. wat to do to ensure the handmade candle doesnt melt away before it reaches the person we gifting it to😊

Hi! Thank you so much for watching :) I make a custom parasoy blend that has a higher melt point for shipping and haven't had any issues yet. I believe some businesses use thermal bubble wrap (silver wrap) to keep the candle insulated but I haven't used it before. Hope that helps!

Yes, I made them and printed them at home :) The colours actually came out lighter than expected and the batch I got printed came out darker so I'm aiming for a colour in between 😅 Hopefully the next run is perfect. Hi can I ask how you came up with the price ? Not that it’s a bad price or anything I just want to know how you determined it .. I’ve been thinking about having a candle business but I want to make sure I know how to price my candles , etc

@@corygeiger5881 Hi! I wanted to use Amazon to make my business more efficient and FBA was appealing to me. That also meant I had to be competitive with other handmade candles online which determined what my target cost had to be. At this point, my goal is to get my product in front of customers so I’m not necessarily focused on profit, but those are the things I kept in mind while creating my candle line. Candle science actually has a really great link for pricing candles (www.candlescience.com/how-to-price-your-candles/). There’s different approaches based on target market, availability of materials etc. Hope the link helps! Also, I’d love to see your candles!
